    That was my Pop driving the Chevelle. He doubled Ernie in Convoy, and set a car jump record (at that time), but it wasn't planned that way. He was supposed to end up in the barn, but ended up going 160+ feet w/o any suspension modifications, etc. Amazing her survived this gag. czcams.com/video/moXAGBIYu4I/video.html

      Dan Herron , I watched the making of that stunt , it was spectacular , and then when Ernest Borgnine sits up in the car it looks as if was really driving , I seen this when it first came out and I still have it on VCR tape , I break it out now and then to watch it , also have Jaws , Dirty Mary Crazy Larry , and many others , real people doing real stunts , enjoy it immensely , thanks

    After watching this movie as a six year old I could not stop buildning Mack trucks and M-60 machine guns out of LEGO. It shaped me into the man I am today :D

      Chad Kimmel did the same thing in the original gone in 60 seconds when the mustang spun out and hit the pole on the freeway

      Yep. In GI60S, the actor cornered too tight and clipped the bumper of the Cadillac, spun out, hit the pole, and that was it. They had to continue the scene weeks later.

    That particular Mack truck series was one the most rugged trucks out there for over a decade the new Macks look a lot like those old 70s Macks I love em plus having Volvo or Cummins power plants and transmissions well Allison and Eaton depending on what you buy but there still solid trucks

      "Convoy" looks like a "Smokey And The Bandit" ripoff, but it has its own personality and, despite being inebriated, Sam Peckinpah. This was his biggest hit, but his unprofessionalism blacklisted him, until he second-unit work on "Jinxed", and full work on "The Osterman Weekend" and two Julian Lennon music videos, before his passing.

    I don't miss those split rims back then I don't even like the R&R wheels with the wedges that hold them on you still see here and there today on dumptrucks but I still drive over the road and Volvo and Mack are my favorite trucks the KW T680 still catches my eye though

      Dumbazz Memes I always HAD a problem on which body style Chevelle' I liked the best either the 66 67 body style or 68 69 gorgeous cars 396 ONE the greatest motor s Chevy EVER made, only thing about the 70 Chevelle they HAD the 454 but I still like the 66 67 body style. N 68 69 over the 70 style even though 70 was very similar to 69

      The roll over was a legit accident. They wanted to re film the scene apparently but the repair shop they were using during the filming wasn't allowed to work on Brockway trucks, so they wrote the accident into the script.
