- If I had a nickel for every Barry Allen story featuring a dark timeline caused by him saving someone who normally doesn't get saved that's also called Flashpoint, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but what are the odds that it would ever happen twice??
Pick this story up today along with some other whacky tales here: a.co/d/7CRhAJp

Bro your the first one to talk about this elseworld flashpoint on CZcams it's about time I saw it!
Even though I am not the biggest fan of the Flashpoint comic that kick-started the New 52 Comic reboot, I will say that this story, with the same name is certainly a bizarre and unique story and I like the inclusion of Vandal Savage and Martain Manhunter (two incredibly underrated DC characters)
Was always curious bout this book
I vastly prefer this Flashpoint (the more famous Flashpoint is...not very good imo)! It's a much stronger thematic and self contained story. It's a bit funny it's so obscure, I chalk it up to Wally being the main Flash of the era so it was a bit of a disjointed experience for active fans of the time.
The dreams thing isn't so unusual, at the time, either. During the 90s in DC there was this concept of Hypertime, which was kind of sort of threading in alternate realities and timelines -- this was before Infinite Crisis brought back the multiverse proper, so it was how they explained Elseworlds being a thing. And certain things could connect these disparate "pieces" of Hypertime. One of them is, obviously, the Speed Force. At the time this was a fresh, new, high concept piece of Flash lore created by Mark Waid in the 1990s before later things turned it into a bit of a running gag (hellow CW Flash show). In this story, Barry is obviously connected to it like all the speedsters, and The Speed Force is one of those things that bridges the different realities.
With his mind working overtime with his powers, it's not much of a stretch for the Speed Force's innate ability to connect to other realities to show Barry those things.
And yeah, your second theory on where Barry went is pretty spot on.
It's an interesting premise but man even just the setup is worth more issues - Why does Flash want to work for the feds, in the beginning? Was there a reason or what? That's a story unto itself.
Anythings better than the popular flashpoint comic
It's a solid example of the Elseworlds imprint's value. We get different kinds of stories because there can be finality.
Good stuff :)
