She says he was sentenced to 31 years but he only has to serve 10.

So even if he was sentenced to 31 years, 10 years is the minimum he has to serve in custody before he can undergo review by the parole board. But even if he is paroled after 10 years he will still be subject to conditions and monitoring for the entire sentence. If he violates the conditions at any point he will be returned to prison to serve out the remainder of the full sentence in custody.
The penalties for Fraud are very harsh in America. Harsher than sexual assault crimes, child abuse, assault, etc.

How the hell did a death row Inmate get a cong visit? Thought those were only for non violent crimes and definitely not anyone on death row.
They also aren't allowed in Federal Prison.

My reservations about these relationships aren’t about them being inmates but about the fact that they probably don’t realise that it’s different when you’re long distance and when you then live together every day in real life. It’s very possible that you’re not going to like the person the way you thought. And that goes both ways.

That friend saying you’re a bad person if you go to prison is an ignorant person. I’ve been to prison and I’m far from bad, just made bad choices.
I've done this...twice. I've had her same thoughts. But she doesn't realize these guys are institutionalized. It's different when he has only one female to talk to and is stuck in prison. When they get out, they often struggle with pTSD and it's hard to stay away from the street life they are so used to. My ex was sober and did well for three years but then relapsed on drugs and lost everything and went back to hustling and is now looking at going back to prison on his third strike. Current bf doesn't know how to live a normal life and struggles with pTSD and night terrors. They do deserve love but after the honeymoon period reality sucks. Also, remember these people didn't just steal one car or assault one person and get locked up in prison. They lived criminal lifestyles and it caught up with them. A lot of them were in gangs. My ex actually told me it's common for men in prison to seek out female pen pals to send them money or commissary. And for those who are getting released soon they seek out women to parole to their address. It's just an innocent love story. Generally if someone will make bad decisions enough to get locked up they aren't going to change. Some do. But if they weren't messed up when they went in they definitely are traumatized coming out.

Yes! Yes! Yes!! My ex did twelve years. It’s an entire different lifestyles. They have no choice but to become institutionalized. The streets find ways to creep back into their lives. Unless you’ve lived it, you couldn’t understand so it’s nice to hear you hit the nail on the head. Cheers to us finding healthy relationships with ourselves and others 💜

Women meeting men in prison is ridiculous. Those men are professional con men that have nothing else to do but write to pass time. Not saying everyone is bad but they are in there for a reason. If u have children & ur priority is trying to get to know a convict then ur priorities are fked up and u should not be a parent. Jeopardizing yourself is one thing but gambling ur child's life is another! I knew 4 people who were pen pals with men in prison and one actually got married to someone who served 15 years in prison for murder🙄 They all ended with the men messing around and being taken care of by the woman. Then they would complain about what the men would put them through 🙄 sorry I didn't sympathize or feel bad. Ur grown and knew better. They were better off going on a dating site then say to themselves "Hey let me find a great man in prison" so ridiculous and just stupid!
i met a person while he was in prison , who told me he was in for one thing , 3 years later i actually found out he didnt have a 5 year sentence for gbh after a drunken night out , he was a armed robber and had threatened to gut his victims ,he was also a sex offender and had 2 previous convictions against this 3 year old niece and 4 year old nephew . his sister was supposed to be my be my best friend , she never said a word about it and which is why i trusted for 3 years , he is actually in for 23 years , i walked out and its been 15 years and never answered calla or letters again ,i confronted his sister who said her baby niece and nephew was lying they convicted him without evidence which was a lie , friendship was also over

Here is what Singrid needs to realize, if her family had been murdered by Alan, she wouldn't be singing the same tune about her murdering and torturing husband.
Of all the social media platforms and dating apps ... she chooses one for convicted criminals in prison! That right there says a lot about her personality and not wanting to be in an traditional relationship, or wants to be the one in control. To me love is not being able to go one day without that person beside you ... not some random person who is locked up who you barely know other than what he has chosen to share with you. Aiding and abetting aggravated assault is not a petty crime and she should seriously considering sharing her child with that!

Their minds are warped. Why would you bring a guy in prison into your innocent, defenseless child life?! They can't say anything that will be an good enough excuse as to why it's a good reason. These guys and girls are NOT thinking of anyone else but themselves and that's wrong. You teach your children to stay away from bad guys and then you bring a bad guy you barely know and what you do know about him is through a prisoners pen pal. It's just crazy. I pray for the innocent, defenseless children who are entwined in this mess.
Yeah I have been down this route but I knew him before he got locked up I had our daughter I waited for him to do his time he gets out and everything he promised to me all that jail talk meant nothing he was cheating all the time never came home tons of stuff you can get lucky and sometimes get the one out of a thousand guys I guess that can be okay but usually it's not the case I wasted so many years with my daughter's dad hoping things have changed and now he's back in prison again because he's so institutionalized. They are so bored and lonely in there and talk to so many different girls so they can get money and phone time and telling it to multiple people they love them never fall for it!
Yep. My Uncle served 4 years in prison and my Mom’s husband served 13 years. They both told me to never get involved with a guy in prison. They knew guys that had 4,5,6 women at a time and were using them for money, food, and pics to be passed around. They would parole out to a woman’s house because it was the only one that got approved. As soon as they could the guys would leave.
just shows how much the judgmental woman knows. that’s a common misconception, that everyone who goes to jail or even prison is just a bad person.
instead what’s true is that plenty of good people are a single decision away from jail//prison (cannabis, wrong place-wrong time, wrongfully convicted, DUI, non-violent offenses, etc.), plenty of good people incarcerated.

It is bad, but it doesn’t make the person who did it a bad person. Most of us know people who have driven drunk once. Thankfully the two I know were quite horrified by their actions and made significant changes, and not one was hurt. They made bad decisions. But they aren’t bad people.
I’ve been w men that have done hard time. It changes them. When they are in they can love bomb and be nonstop attentive. It’s different when they are in the free world. Also the world is different than it was ten years ago. The truth is, ten years is a long time to be institutionalized. For her sake I hope it’s all rainbows and unicorns, but from a realistic viewpoint this is so foolish especially because she’s a mother.
I would never do something like that, my brother has made a career going to prison, and he said never have anything to do with people in prison.

I would suspect yes, because I often hear about women particularly more attractive women getting a lot of fan mail and admirers. It's sort of an ideal relationship for a lot of guys because you get to have someone in your life but you also get to have lots of space as well.

I think it’s pretty stupid to like sought after someone who is incarcerated. We have so many ways to find someone today. I met my husband on a random dating app as a teenager I didn’t think would go anywhere. Why would you specifically look for someone who is both unavailable and has committed a crime large enough to land them in prison is beyond me

Austin seems like he grew up and really regrets what he did. He was in prison, he paid for what he did and now he wants to embrace having a family. Not every prisoner is a bad person but you should definitely be aware and get to know this person in real life before it becomes too intense.
The problem is a lot of these guys have multiple women that they have met on pen pal sites.

Loads of women were doing it. Getting men to send £ in , or get them to come on visits with a parcel (drugs etc)
Some women even got their pen pal/sugar daddy to do their dirty work for them.

Many women did not have anybody out here to send them in £ so I don't blame them tbh.

I am really happy for you both. Please, do not allow anyone dictate your future nor any potential of a loving relationship you may have or having. Your family and friends will have their concerns that's because they love you and want only the best for you, but at the end of the day if you make each other happy then go for it! We ALL make mistakes in life and we can only hope that we learn from them. I'm in touch with a prisoner we have been each others pen pals for nearly two years and it is one of the best things that I ever did. I feel that people who sit in prison have more time to face their realities and are better for it. Look what's going on in the world today and the way people are acting. I wish people didn’t automatically say people in prison were bad people. Aggravated assault is bad but there’s innocent people who got frames or falsely accused, people struggling with addiction due to mental health and other non violent crimes.
I wouldn’t trust anyone who was in for aggravated assault but my point still stands. Not everyone in prison is a bad person.
Also cops should *never* handle someone with PTSD. They have zero training for that and they make the situation more dangerous. I would never attack anyone but if I cop was hurting me I’d have an episode and my brain would switch into survival mode. The situation would go from no danger to literally everyone being in danger just because cops lack training for mental health and PTSD

My cousin is a hybristophile with a felon fetish and this is a very bad thing to be promoting. She's also a criminal though and not of the "I can fix him!" subtype but this will appeal to gullible, lonely, codependents with a messiah complex and will get more people hurt than anything.

Sadly Love from the Cage or on Road, Shouldn't matter there can be BAD People anyplace you try to find love. The happy part about the Prison Relationships is ' The People who choose this way to love, I think they understand that LOVE IS WORTH THE WAIT. Plus all of the People in Prison have had to go through so many different programs to be able to be released better people, who wouldn't want a man who has had Multiple Courses On a Variety of life & relationship skills before the marriage. It's the PERFECT way to start a new life with these skills, heck these men are hands down more prepared for life. Each Con knows that they have so much more to lose. So the effort i would hope should be flawless. They Cannot fail this time, If someone took the chance on them for love,That LOVE would and should be so much stronger. C'est la vie !
