    “We were at war. I was a soldier.” I love this line from Iroh because it’s past tense. He’s not at war anymore.

    Uncle Iroh and Zuko's back story is so good here. Such a tragic life but Iroh is living his best now.

    If you think this is the best episode, wait till episode 6! This series def has it's up and downs, but when it was UP, it was UP. Some of the changes were great, like the rebels from the fire nation in episode 3, makes WAY more sense now as to how the series ends bc in the original ATLA I'm like, "So... the fire nation has been killing them for over 4 generations and the other nations are just gonna hold hands and sing kumbaya now?". Now it makes more sense, even the fire nation citizens were oppressed. Likewise some of the changes in this episode were great! Bumi changes are more realistic, but I still sort of miss goofy Bumi, but I will have to admit this is a lot more realistic and then he can now remember how he used to be and THEN be goofy. The leaves from the fine was a dirty shot from them haha, I cried my heart out. And adding so much Iroh/Ozai scenes were great.

    Aang didn't choose to get frozen for 100 years but he put himself in that situation. That wasn't a random accident. He learned he was the avatar and instead of facing it head on he panicked and ran. Got into trouble and his powers got the better of him. Fair enough since he was a child, but that doesn't take away the fact that yeah, he put himself in that situation and as far as everyone is concerned, Kyoshi included, he's still not taking his responsibility seriously.

    I love Broken Bumi.
    Also Zhao is far cooler in the live action than the anime.

    I don’t think they’ll get a second season . So many people are trashing this series despite it being great . A-lot of them fans of the original , despite it being better than the original in some aspects. Sad really.

      I'd be willing to bet that the show got TONS of views so I think it will get a second season.

      I loved this. I'm glad it wasn't exactly like the animated one. I like the changes they have made and was glad with the whole series.

      Comments are less important than viewes and completion rates. If many people watch the whole season, it has a high chance for a renewal. And it was a 7,4 rating on IMDb, with ~75% rating it from 7 to 10. So the majority likes it fine. People trashing it may be loud, but that's always the case.

    I have mixed feelings about the changes to Bumi. In one way it makes sense that Bumi could become resentful of Aang and dealing with the pressure of a century of war. Of course the message from Bumi (and others like Kysohi) would have hit harder if they followed the original plot of Aang running away, instead of just clearing his head.

      As far as anyone knows, he ran away and he's done absolutely nothing to clarify that. Because even he knows that deep down that's what he's been doing since learning he was the avatar.

      Agree with @zimvader25. All most people know is that the Avatar vanished 100 years ago and that since a new one didn’t appear, they know or at least have every reason to believe the Avatar survived and has been in hiding for the last 100 years. There’s a reason so many are shocked to find out that Aang is still a child and it’s simply because they have no idea what actually happened, just that he vanished when they needed him most. I’d also wager the Fire Nation has spent the last 100 years painting the Avatar as a coward in hiding. In any case, only a handful of people even have a glimmer of the truth about the ice and not even all of those know how or why he ended up in ice.

      @@cervanntes To add to that Avatars are known to live way over 100 years, some even lived 200+, so it makes a lot more sense why Zuko was looking for a master fighter and all that. They all thought since he wasn't being reborn he was still alive somewhere practicing or doing something for some reason. The fire nation thought he was preparing to kill them, and the other nations kept hope for a few generations then lost it. So when Bumi sees Aang and sees he's still a kid, you gotta realize all the times where he had something happen he at least thought maybe he was somewhere out there preparing, then he learns he was just "sleeping through it all". This was way more realistic. I won't say better, but it is more real. I think at the end Bumi remembered his true heart and feelings and he's now basically the Bumi we know, they just gave him an arc, just wish they'd shown him playing around a little bit more after for ppl to see that it's not like he's different forever now, but the sliding wasn't enough to display that to most.

      Bumi would realistically be surprised, want to know where Aang was and why he was still a child. Things being darker and more grim don't automatically make them more realistic. Bumi isn't realistic in either series... he merely reacts in a way that tells the story they want to tell.

    • @Saphthings
      @Saphthings Před 5 měsíci +1

      @@Cacklebladder777 Yep, and he did. He asked why he is still a child. And ONCE he learned it, he THEN had a way more realistic reaction than in the original. That's why the scene starts after the conversation and he goes, "So the world blah blah and you got to sleep through it all". He's upset he has to leave and flies into a storm and get's to sleep while the world burns.
      Yes. As someone who's gone through trauma, and deals with trauma victims, this response was very realistic.
      That's like when an absent parent tells his adult kid he had some reason as to why, and almost every person will usually react with, "idgaf what your excuse was, you weren't there, and it was your responsibility". In ATLA that was the outlier, which is also possible, but it's rare.
