The year is 2028, we have not heard from Kingdom Hearts 4 in 6 years when suddenly there's a new trailer. And then at the end a voice says "But, the world is ever changing, for the 17th coming" and the Kingdom Hearts logo morphs into Final Fantasy 17.

A quiet year means we oldies can finally make way through our ever growing backlog.
Not gonna lie, been refreshing not having anything new on my radar. I have already finnished 7 games off my backlog this year, and currently halfway through Guardians of the Galaxy. Before Elden Ring DLC comes out.
How is it going? Finished about 10 games since last year but still have 30 games on my backlog. Though half are not released yet. Though half of the half will be released this year. If I keep this up I might finish my backlog by the end of next year. Considering next year won't be full of bangers too.
@@pandaman1331 how can something that hasnt come out yet, be considered "backlog"? To me, backlog are games that you bought, they have been out for a while, but you havent played or finnished yet.
Of course, opinions may vary the definition for each person.
@@NoctisZeroWorld My notion of backlog might very well be wrong. I keep hearing people talk about their backlog every time a new game was announced. So to me it sounds like a backlog is just a compilation of games you are planning to play. But maybe they really meant that they will immediately buy it even if they won't play it instantly. Some people's behavior still is illogical to me. Like some people never finish a game. I might actually be the strange one though. I have no unfinished game (unless I dropped it because it bored me). And if my definition is indeed wrong then I also have no backlog. In the steam community I'm propably the weird one 😅.

Ok I get what you mean now ahahah, but yeah basically a backlog, is a list of games you have that you havent come around to finishing yet. Usually people buy games on sale, to "play it eventually" but they still buy it at a lower price right away, cause it was on their radar anyways.
Or they are playing a game, but some new game they really wanted to play comes out, and what they were playing gets left behind.
There are many reasons why you either havent played a game you own yet, or didnt finish a game.
And then, for the games that you left halfway through, its kinda hard to go back to cause sometimes, so much time has passed that you'd have to start over just to know what the heck is going on or how to play.
The reason people mention their backlog when a new game comes out, is basically because whatever they were planning to play, or were playing at the time, will be left behind. It happenns when a lot of good games come out in a short span of time.
The Original comment states that the fact fewer games have been comming out lately, lets them deal with the games they had on their backlog because there is nothing new on the way.

I really don't get the hate for state of play. I think it was a decent show. Yes some games were not for me but that doesn't make it a bad show.
New monster hunter, new dynasty warriors, new Alien, path of exile 2, where winds meet, god of War coming to pc. I'm happy all of these got a platform. Even the girly dress up game, while not for me, I think it was nice for it to be there.

I appreciate the integration of the Stellar Blade OST into your videos.
Game Developer here. I worked on a project that started in UE4 and it transitioned to UE5. Luckily we were early on, so the transition was mostly on the back end and took some engineering work. The whole thing took about 2 weeks. The further along the project, the harder this is to do. We had a few minor hiccups, but now are fully on UE5.
That makes perfect sense. I suppose then it would depend on how far long KH4 is then to see how much of an impact it would have on its schedule then. Thank you for weighing in on this!

10 / 10 Game Fest would be with trailers / gameplay and release dates for: GTA 6, Silksong, Smash Bros Content, new Mario Kart, Switch 2, KH 4, FF 17, Dark Souls 4, new Zelda Game
4:16 would be a dream for a versus xiii/xv reboot led by Nomura and the original team to come out one day, that would be the craziest reveal ever
they are remaking ff9 and tactics? after the half baked 8 remaster. not sure what to expect.
I'm expecting a lot of live service garbage no one will remember by the end of the year and some random third/first person shooters and racing sports games to be all hype with them fellow kids. Anything else would be a nice surprise.

I really hope Final Fantasy 9 Remake gets the amount of buzz it deserves when it is finally announced. Of course, I also hope that the Remake isn't just a cash grab, and that a lot of effort goes into giving that classic an awesome upgrade.
I dont think it will look as good as that FF9 fan remake Memoria project. They absolutely nailed the essences of the game there, even had good voice acting too. Wish square had just hired them
to make a full game.
I hope they will make black magic and summons viable.

I have to say, I really miss E3, and I am even more disappointed that I couldn't get to attend one of it before it officially ended. Watching it on TV was something I always looked forward to every summer and it was fun watching all the gaming community talk about it on CZcams afterwards.🥲💖

Remakes of classic Dragon Quest games sounds cool, but one thing I've been wanting to see is ports of the original NES versions of the first three games. I've been trying to find various top-down NES games for research, and all I've been able to find is the original Legend of Zelda. For Dragon Quest 1-3 and Final Fantasy 1-3, all I can find are ports of old remasters of those games.

I'm guessing that we're not going to see anything new for KH4 until Remake Part 3 is wrapping up production. Given that Nomura is co-director of the Remake Trilogy he probably doesn't have time for KH.
I'm not expecting anything too major from SE for a while. I seem to recall them saying they will not have any major releases over the next couple of years.
I'm hoping we get the FFIX reveal later this year but I'm not counting on it.

I wish they'd make smaller or less detailed games that take 2-4 years to make, cause it's excessive to wait so long for games (and most of that development time is just for detailed graphics).
I would like to see them announce FFIX, Dragon quest XII and I would like to see the people behind Sea of stars putting out another RPG. Honestly I would be most excited if CapCom came out with MegaMan X9.

I think I am the only one out there who misses the old E3 before the influencers took over and it only became world premiers.
I think it doesn't reflect the state of the industry that much, but I think state of gaming culture. People have wild expectations and get hyped for stuff that has not be confirmed. I always go in completly clear headed with "i will let it just happen and I will see what is announced." And I am almost never disappointed.
How do I not get surprised from what is presented as SGF ? I never had any expectation in the first place, that help a lot on that front

Man the Dragon Quest news is so hype
Whatever happens, I really hope we get a release date for Epic Mickey Rebrushed which is still coming out this year in 2024. It’ll more than likely be at the next Nintendo direct but since it’s a remake of the original game, it can’t be far off from release at all.

At the same time Utada dropped some Hikari and Simple&Clean remakes..
I just think its too sus for KH to not show off some new tease.
Now that Rebirth is out, the major game I'm looking forward to this year is Assassin's Creed Shadows. Although, I'm still hopeful we'll get some smaller scale games and remasters announced. Such as a FFXIII Trilogy Remaster
NSP: Is it just me or has the amount of time between the original FFIX leak and today, without any announcement whatsoever, been exceedingly long? Even by Square Enix standards. How long can it possibly take to make this game? Are they going to announce it and release it a few months later or what?
Depends on what kind of Remake it is. If its FF7R tier but 1 game I think it might be quite the undertaking. If it's less than that the game might be struggling or it leaked in pre-production.

@@cloud1stclass372 He said in his newest video that the game got taken in house. I think it's more closer to 5 years now. That's kind of the same time as FF7 Remake took I think? So if they announce it sometime this year and then release it soonish it wouldn't be so weird. I think this trusted leaker said it wouldn't be weird if it ended up releasing in their fysical year. Tbh I'm very intrigued how they will manage putting all of this in a single game.
I mean will it be open world like FF7R? Will it just be zones? Even if it's zones + towns/cities then it's still a fuckton I think. Though FF9 I think has less locations than FF7 and so less scope. But in one game in AAA quality. This will be very interesting to see the reveal for. Allot of people are just hoping for their own preferences, turn based, faithful, one game etc. I'm more curious about how they will end up just doing the structure.
But the long dev time could be a sign of that. They said it's been very far in development now for a while. So nearly finished. Gonna be one massive game i'd say..
The DQ HD-2D Remake turning into a trilogy has long been speculated by fans. Based on the initial trailer of DQ3R (from over 3 years ago now) the project looked quite far along. They had functioning combat, a pretty complete looking world map, at least 3 very polished locations, and scripted in-game events (which you generally don't do until later in development). So unless they showed us the sheerest of vertical slices, then there's no universe in which it takes 3 more years of dev time from that point to finish that game. And since DQ 1+2 already share a lot of assets with 3 it just makes sense for it to become the trilogy instead. They would only need to make 4 more sets of player character sprites/models? (idk how HD-2D works), and they could reuse loads of assets for the monsters and combat animations, as well as parts of the world map/locations. Personally I'm of the opinion that this game has been done for a while now, and they've just been sitting on it for the right moment to release it (letting all the other major SqEnix RPGs/DQ spin-offs in the pipline finish releasing/get out of the way).

Since Final Fantasy XVI came out, this is the first time that the series has not shown up anything about the main series, and we have no clue about whats next with the franchise. Yes, we have Dawntrail this summer, but that's just an expansion of an existing game, we have Final Fantasy IX Remake, but are only rumors of it and nothing official. Even we have Final Fantasy VII Remake part 3, but it won't appear, at least, in 3 or 4 years. So, maybe, this year, square wants a break with big titles of Final Fantasy, and focus on other products.
I think that, now, is a good time to announce Kigndom Hearts 4 or Dragon Quest XII for this year or the beggining of the next, and, meanwhile, continue taking out remasters or remakes, like the Dragon Quest HD 2D of the main titles of the most important franchises to have access to them on every actual platforms, like the Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters for Xbox Series, the Final Fantasy XIII trilogy remastered for PS5 and Switch (or Switch 2), more games, like the one mentioned before, Dragon Quest HD 2D, but with the rest of the games of the Dragon Quest franchise for all platforms, and the same for other franchises like Mana, Saga, Star Ocean, etc. Fortunately, with the whole Kingdom Hearts series now abailable on Xbox, it can be fully played on any actual platform.
I have zero expectations for SGF and definitely wasn’t expecting KH4. If something shows up, it’ll be a nice surprise. I’m a little bummed nothing got announced at Tales of Festival this weekend, but the Sony SoP, Marvelous Showcase, and SH Transmission were all great, and I’m looking forward to the next Nintendo Direct, so it will be interesting to see what lies ahead.

I think FF9R is gonna get a soft announce. One main reason is the digital content with the latest FF14 expansion.
All the extra digital content is related to FF9. When talking about it in the latest dawntrail events, they said “they can’t say why it’s all related to FF9 yet”

Gaming really needs to figure things out. Smaller titles need to be encouraged and supported. At the same time this year might be the first time a jrpg will win goty due to the very strong showing for jrpgs this year.

This will probably be a slow year for announcements in general. The industry is going through a rough patch with the PS5 and Xbox, and the Switch is in a transitional period before the new one comes out. The state of play was pretty lackluster, and the Xbox show and Nintendo direct this month probably won’t have a whole lot going on either.
…but it’s already been confirmed That Square Enix isn’t going to be at the SGF at all..
We might hope for them during the Xbox presentation, to stress that they’re going “multiplatform”…

I think another look at Dragon Quest XII, or even a release date for Dragon Quest III 2d/3d remake are highly probable.
For me a Hypeshow would be FF7 Rebirth PC Releasedate for summer and maybe a port that is not complete barebones garbage (one might dream of DLSS 3.* or FSR 3 and what not). That would be enough game for the rest of the year for me. Bloodborne Remaster on PC would help too. But Wukong is coming, the new HoyoVerse is coming and so many other games that are not AAA but kinda seem to be good. Iam kinda okay with not getting "in development please be excited" and then the game goes dark for 5 years because the demo was all they had.
There is a multitude of korean games that were announced and have gone a bit off the radar that would be cool to see again: InZOI, Project M, DokeV (which looked odd the last time but still, it is intriguing).
But there is always a backlog to carry me over to whenever something interesting comes out (like getting through KH and the good other KH games before going into KH3...finally), i think i bought Persona 5 Royal and only played like 10 Minutes, because i was not in the mood for that.
FF9Remake would be a blast :)

Honestly the games industry as a whole has been going down year after year, with less hype for each show case every single time. It's come to the point where I literally don't expect anything good from the Triple A industry.
2023 was imo the best release year for games to date.
Give me release dates and at least a few frames of actual gameplay. I don't need much new stuff; I need to know that something is coming out this fall and winter besides the endless sea of AA and indie games.

I don't care lol, if Kondo announced Trails in the sky remake, this is already a 10/10 for me. If we get a new lost oddysey or blue dragon remaster as teased by xbox showcase, this is the return of the golden age. I don't need AAA announcements to get me all hyped. In fact i am more excited about remasters, ports and HD2d remakes more then anything this year and quite frankly these games have been dominating the industry in the last 5 or so years.
How the heck has trails in the sky not already been ported to modern consoles haha. Really hoping we get it soon

The only way FF9R ever was a turn based game is if the scope was so small it would hardly count for a AAA remake tbh. Or they would really have to go the DQ route with it. Which I'm not certain off. I still suspect its ATB Action like FF7R and we will get the same kind of whining as always because people deluded themselves.

For KH4 I think they are waiting until it's about a year away and Switch 2 to be revealed first. Unless Wu Kong does something exceptional, Rebirth is what I feel could take GOTY this time and I'll be extremely happy lol. A close contender would be Stellar Blade but Rebirth's just an all rounder for me. Stellar Blade I felt was lacking in terms of story but the combat and exploration were rewarding.
FF9 remake isn't going to sell. Fan's barely went out and supported FF7 Rebirth. Yet want more & more games 😂 this community is backwards & ungrateful.
