The cobra done Britain proud every time he stepped into the ring the man is made of stone
Very true. Can't ever count the man out.
Except against ward
B R U M ward is on another level compared to other boxers in his division.
No shame losing to Ward, dude was fighter of the decade
DID Britain proud, unlike your grammar.
Rarely do I agree with stoppages in the last round, but that was a legitimate stoppage
He was gone, gave him every chance to continue. When fighters become punching bags, that's when you stop a fight.
Taylor was fighting on heart his brain was destroyed
When the ref looks at the fighter and sees that he is unable to continue he stops the fight. 2 minutes left or 2 seconds he stops the fight. The ref doesn't carry a watch of course, that's the timekeeper's job, time is irrelevant to the ref, he protects the fighter from possible death. If a ref let's the fighter continue and the next punch kills him he's got serious legal problems. Even Steele's stoppage couldn't prevent Meldrick Taylor from becoming the incoherent, brain - damaged wreck he is today.
He was held standing by the ropes, and at the end he legit was out
Absolutely! 15 seconds left is a long time. Difference between life and death. Perfect refereeing
Carl Froch. What a genuinely amazing career.
Loved Froch's comment in the pre-fight press conference. "Taylor calls himself Bad Intentions. He should change his nickname to Bad Predictions if he thinks he's going to beat me."
He’d been waiting to use that one for a while I bet 😂
I am a Brit and I love Carl Froch, but what a warrior Taylor was also. Taylor never bemoaned the fact the ref stopped it and acknowledged the ref was in the right place to make the call. Two awesome warriors in an awesome fight, shame there had to be a loser.
Jermaine was really a washed fighter at that stage in his career and still brought it. This is a great video to the people who doubt Carl froch as a fighter froch said he'd beat canelo if they'd fought I agree Carl would of beat canelo.
Never gets old, I've seen this clip dozens of times, best stoppage ever, best boxing commentating ever.
Totally agree with all you say. Commentary was top notch here and added to the drama in the ring. Wonderful stuff!
I'M GOING BACK TO ENGLAND MOM AND I'M KEEPING MY TITLE..... that guy is a legend lol.
Mum* 😏 🇬🇧
Gus Johnson was amazing this round, as always when he finds that next gear. You should hear his greatest college football and college basketball calls, as well as his NFL calls. The guy is just brilliance and enthusiasm personified.
What was that commentator's name?
Teddy atlas, one of Mike tysons former trainers
@@timg6555.
Froch is one of the best super middleweights of all time! Great comeback, one of the greatest last rounds I've ever seen. And the commentary was legendary, had me on the edge of my seat!
Commentary made this so much better
Yes, an honest unbiased commentary to a dramatic round.
Gus Johnson was incredible
Tastes are different i guess. I find the yelling annoying
One of the best comebacks I've seen this
It's a bit of a myth that he was miles behind. I could agree that he was maybe a bit behind, but listen to the first words of Al Bernstein in this clip, "I have Taylor ahead by two points but it could be a draw or even a one point lead for Froch."
It was very close going into the 12th, and Froch prob won this with a 10-8 12th even if Taylor makes the bell.
Coach John lol what? He was behind 106-102 on two scorecards. He literally needed that KO to win the fight.
Coach John couple round I think the kd should have got him a draw if he didn't stop him
What was I thinking, I forgot about American judges lol.
Don’t forget it’s two British judges that have robbed us twice in those very dodgy draws , paid off as I was told from an insider.
Froch was beat on points here, he had to knock Taylor out and he did in the most dream like fashion. The best last round of boxing i have ever seen!
Don't agree that Froch was beaten otherwise. That's a myth that grew from the fact that it was a late stoppage - he still had a chance on the cards, especially with a 10-8 12th if Taylor made it to the bell.
Julio César Chávez jr Sergio Martínez that one top 5 in the best last round or boxing award
@1878EFC2008 Gotcha. They were probably less than impartial, but regardless - it was not a massive blowout, it was close.
Was a great fight to watch, as were most of his.
Dude, they don't write em much better for the movies than this even!
@@cesarpalma3342 That is the first thing that came to my mind. That round was really incredible.
Every time I watch this, I still expect Taylor to make it to the bell.
What a finisher Froch was.
I've watched it loads of times. I literally just watched it then and was thinking he's ran out of time, he can't do it.
Perfect example of a fighter that would have won the bout had he not run out of gas. Froch did tag him pretty good though.
@@bobshenix It was the very hard punches Carl landed in the last round that did it especially that one that rocked Taylor
Haha, that's so true
This came straight out of a Rocky movie.
RA The Vigilante Lol! Froch is an amazing lad
Michael A I watched both fights!
RopeADope • Always a fan of Froch!
Yep Froch career was a bit like that. Sometimes comes across as an arrogant cock womble but can't argue with his results at world level. One of Britain's greatest ever.
@Michael if I'd done that I'd take every opportunity to brag about it, as would every fecker to takes the piss out of him doing so.
I remember watching this live with my mates, when Froch put him down we lost our shit beyond belief. Such great memories
Aye. I was in my basement with a mate. Kids were in bed, my wife was away wit her sister, we had the whole night to look forward to this fight. Absolute bedlam when CF did that. A great lad's night at home watching a fight, tremendous. Glad you enjoyed it like we did mate.
Lies, fight wasn’t shown live in the UK it was highlights in the morning
@@Bollands yeah I know cos setanta didn't put in an offer weirdly, so we watched it on livestream over the internet, they had it ppv. Think we paid a tenner for it?
Don't blame you for thinking this though, it wasn't widely advertised!
@@Bollands also just thinking, you could've actually found this out yourself within about 30 seconds. Why didn't you check before you start calling peeps liars? Such a weird way to operate 🙄
💯 Absolutely great memories
Not a Froch fan, but man's got a hell of a chin, stamina and determination.
Spot on
Fernando Alonso Matilla - I was a big fan. Froch could have competed in any era. Froch would have been unbeaten in the era when it was the first Man to be KOd who lost, IMO.
.
As a boxer he was amazing
Froch was all out warrior mode in the end. He was like...'let's ave it'. The thing with Froch is that it would take him a while to figure out his opponent but once he did, boy was they in trouble. This is why Ward refused a rematch. Boxing is all about timing. Froch was coming of 1000'a of miles of travelge and Ward as the hometown fighter fanboy made the most of it.
Nando 55 Yove only got to see the way froch got off he's ass when Grooves knocked him down to know he's got a chin made of granite. "I challenge any man to take that punch and get back up on he's feet" Froch.
This fight ruined Taylor and made Froch, what a stoppage.
Kelly Pavlik ruined Taylor and to be honest the damage goes back farther than that. He had concussions in both Hopkins fights and in the Winky Wright fight. By the time Froch got to him he was already softened up
So no credit to Froch from you then?
Coach John He doesn't need credit from me but facts are facts. It was a good win for Carl but we know Taylor had taken a lot of punishment and been knocked out way before that fight took place. After being knocked out you will always be vulnerable to being knocked out again
You're thinking of concussions. People get exponentially more susceptible to having them once they've had one.
This was not a concussion knockout, this was a stoppage after a severe beating.
Americans have a assumption that their boxer is better going in to a fight, and if thy lose there must be mitigating circumstances.
That's not the case, Froch was just the better man, on this night or any night of Taylor's career.
yeah , this fight ruined Jermain for real, that night and those pavlik fight too man
I remember watching this live, Froch has always been a savage. One of my fave fighters of all time!
It was intense live I remember it even my nan started screaming in the last round
Savage!!🤣 Yepp, that word really does sum up Froch. Not the best boxer in the world, admittedly but a really game toe-to-toe brawler. Hard as nails.
@@mitchellplaice7673 Great memories mate store them and enjoy them later as well
@@71poiuytrewq If Marvelous put on a few pounds that's my fantasy fight : Froch v Hagler
@@Mustaine1ify It would definitely be a war.
Froch became 1 of my favorites after the tournament.
Watching him fight Bute in England was even better. Massive underdog vs an unbeaten fighter and Froch destroyed him. One of the most underrated fighters to grace the sport
Still watching this now .. 2019 .. legend Carl froch
20 20 here mate it never gets old
2021 dudes 👍🏻😏
Carl Froch's training payed off here.. you can see just before they stop it that carl is digging deep, REAL DEEP.. giving every last bit of stamina he had left in him. wow
Under-rated comment tbh. A younger and inexperienced Froch might have lost heart at that point, or been too eager and got caught, but he found exactly what was needed to win.
must've ran many miles for that fitness. beast of a man
Froch is a warrior!
froch what a legend
It still gives me goosebumps sitting here right now years later.
One of the best fights ever at sm weight level man. This fight deserves more credit than it gets. Should have been on comeback of the year. Froch did pretty good man. Definitely one of the best fighters that came out of great Britain.
I was driving my HGV back to Hull from Plymouth and listened to this fight, Froch become my favourite boxer of my life time because of that fight. A true warrior and a legend and also I love his bragging he deserved it all!
This makes me cry i got so emotional that night he's a true warrior
Perfect example of brilliant commentary elevating an already brilliant fight
Gus Johnson makes everything epic. His enthusiasm for competition and his appreciation of the athletes makes his commentary top-notch whether it's football, college basketball, or prizefighting. Maybe he wasn't the best MMA commentator (LOLOL) but just about everything else he voices is simply amazing.
The best commentary
I never saw a guy who needed a last round stoppage to win look more calm and relaxed than Froch.
Lol that's a fact
Fabulous round and equally fabulous commentary.
The commentator was to lit! Lol!
sooo good lol
Too
Can we take a moment to appreciate the commentary on this. Superb.
Anyone who signed to fight froch must have thought wtf do I need to do, I’ve hit him with everything and he still keeps coming. What a chin 🇬🇧👊🏼
Commentary’s amazing. Passionate and descriptive to a tee.
“PUNCHES! .. IN BUNCHES! .. AND ITS ALL OVER!” haha brilliant
Love watching all the fans sat close to the ring just stunned at that ending.
At least one bloke is clapping just after the fight a true fight fan as he looks American if such a thing can be said
The black folks in the neutral corner got big mad when Froch put him on the ground LOLOL
Froch is 30% ability
30% skill
And 40% heart !!!
What a fight !!!
You forgot to mention his chin which was elite.
Right I would have loved to see froch vs calzaghee I think Joe would have boxed him and gave him an ugly face tho both had tanks to go 20 rds
15% concentrated power of will
And 100% reason to remember the name
Froch's combination of a granite chin and solid power punches always made for an exciting fight.
If this fight was included in a Rocky film it wold have been taken out for being too unrealistic. One of the best finishes of all time.
The heart in those two men. Bloody, bloody hell.
Love him or hate him he's a great fighter and one of the best at finishing a fight strong in the later rounds.
I'll go along with that, wasn't his biggest fan but Froch earned his respect hes become entertaining and likeable of late.
one of the best rounds you'll ever see. amazing fight for drama. i always remember his missus screaming go carl in her scouse accent all fight.
Gus Johnson's call is one of the best boxing calls of all time for my money. Ranks up there with Jim Lampley's call of George Foreman's KO of Michael Moorer. Gus always knows how to amp up the excitement.
Taylor is the only fighter I know that always make it to the 12rd and gets knocked out.
Prince Josiah78 if your slow but got a tough chin and good stamina you can out ride the early quick flash onslaught n take him out when he's tired
Twerd lol
Thats right
@@fegstachops6746 twelverd
The only other time Taylor was stopped in round 12 was against Arthur Abraham and he was losing on all three judges cards by 2 points, 4 points and 5 points after 11 rounds so even if he had gone the distance he would have lost a unanimous decision.
Still one of my favourite boxing clips to watch again and again. Froch with a heart of a lion in this one!
Heart, determination, and the will to win no matter what.
The last 30 seconds were the longest time that J. Taylor had ever experienced in his life. LOL
Unbelievable heart of a champion!
Froch is one BMF
Very brave stoppage by the Ref, but bang on. I had Taylor up by maybe 1/2 Rounds.
Froch was an outstanding fighter. Never stopped. Always gave 100%, always in great shape.
Froch’s body punching has always been overlooked!
those rapid ones to the body when most would've been going for the head
I forgot how masterful that ducked jab right hand counter was when taylor started throwing back. He baited taylor's emotions so masterfully.
Boxings such a mind fuck.
Great commentary makes a great fight even better!
One of my favourite boxing finishes I’ve ever seen in a ring! Coming back from being knocked down and literally having to stop him with 30 seconds left, amazing finish!
The fight that got me Into boxing!
That 6 punch combo Froch hit him with around 1:00 left on the clock is great 2 to the head, 2 to the body then 2 back to the head, beautifull at that stage in the fight Froch never was the most talented but he was always able to really dig deep inside when 99.9% of other boxers would give up or tire out, if you give that ability to a guy with a great skill set you have the ultimate fighter
Looking at it again I think it's more like an 8 or 9 punch combo 👌
You can be the best fighter in the world but if you can't take a punch then it's meaningless. Froch had a granite chin and an unboundless desire to win..that's what made him world champion ahead of some other boxers who technically were better
@@PaulabJohnson Facts mate. Most people don't understand this
Still watch this , in my opinion the best 12th round I've ever seen
Always thought frock was a limited fighter. But he never ducked anyone and fought his heart out every time. It’s a pity the rest of the boxing world is not like him. If mayweather was like him there’s no way he’d have gone unbeaten
Karl Froch was a warrior true champion never ducked anyone and won in front of 80 thousand people at Wembley 😉
This fight is why Carl Froch belongs in the hall of fame.
This was amazing from Froch .... Legendary fight.
A true champion
Yes, simply astonishing
Both warriors. Nothing else to say.
As an American froch is definitely the real deal. Gritty and always bring intelligent pressure
Best win by a British fighter on foreign soil true rocky stuff!!
The best win by a British fighter on foreign soil was Honeyghan beating Don Curry in Atlantic City.
@@Mustaine1ify You lot are mugs:
Calzaghe vs hopkins
Fury vs klitshko/Wilder
Lewis vs tyson/holyfield/Klitshko
@@harrymail7 Don't start calling people little boy. Let's look at the facts: Hopkins and Wladimir were both over the hill. Wilder is a dummy, Lewis got lucky against V. Klitschko. Do some research and we can have a proper discussion rather than calling people. Your grammar needs work too.
@@Mustaine1ify Never called anyone little boy.
You never gave single fact mate. Just your own opinion.
Glib yep, Hopkins was so over the hill when Calzaghe beat him that 6 months later he took Kelly Pavliks 0, then beat RJJ and Jean Pascal (who is world champ In 2020). Give Joe the credit, amazing win away.
The reason I loved Froch. He may not have been blessed with skills, his guard was low, but the guy was absolute granite. He could have gone another 3 rounds easy. He was so heavy handed too, as Taylor found out
Froch said in an interview he keeps his hands low after being inspired by Naseem Hamed's style.
He had pretty good looking skills to me, lol. Nottinghamshire hardness.
@@posniknelb6114oh no don’t get me wrong, he had skills, but he was primarily brute strength. And he could take a shot too which goes a long way towards a career like he had. One of the best Britain has produced.
It's almost like Taylor knew it was over before the ref actually stopped it, looking at his facial expression just before the stoppage (which was a good one IMO).
Brilliant commentary on this. Absolutely fucking great commentary that compliments that ending.
Before the TKO the ref did his bit to save Taylor. That was near to 15 seconds that Taylor was down for...
I know you can easily see he was not prepared at 9 so he should have been counted out during the first kd
Maybe but you have to beat the referees ten count and referees are human, not stopwatches. Besides, all it actually did was make Taylor take more punishment from Froch so not so much saving him but more throwing him under a bus.
Superb from Froch. Watch this every few years to cheer me up. 👌🏻
Amazing fight. Amazing performance from Froch. Amazing commentary from the Showtime team - I come back to this video time and again.
3:19, look at that cold blooded spectator, just taking it easy as a man fights for his life
I know 😂
Most of the crowds are full of NPCs 🤣
Shit like this makes a fighter great! You can win win win but doing it in the last minute of the 12th round in his opponents own country! That’s why Froch is a legend!
Froch’s stamina was unrivaled, guy was an absolute machine, no man could out last him or KO him, must’ve been a nightmare to fight against.
Iconic 12th round with epic commentary to go with it
Don't like froch much when he's being interviewed or anything but I'm a massive fan of his career, he was a total warrior with an iron jaw, always in great fights
Taylor goes down at 43 seconds from the end but the count lasts until 30 seconds left plus another 5 after that referee talking time how bent is that?
What a performance, sheer will to win.....Warrior 🥊
My favourite round of boxing, bar none.
This was so epic. Froch is a warrior
The cobra was awesome.. very under appreciated fighter
real rocky moment.
UK warrior
Despite the piss takes, Froch was one hard bastard. And for all those piss takers, ten times the hardest bastard you'd ever come across!
Froch’s composure to keep from smothering his punches showed that this wasn’t just desperation. The man was laying it all on the line but in a calculated way. That’s scary stuff
the body combinations just show his boxing intelligence. most would've just gone to the head
This is when I first heard of Froch
The ref stopped it not a punch too soon and not a punch too late. Perfect timing to intervene. Taylor was beat and unable to defend himself. Another 5 seconds of punches could've been life changing.
Not technically the best boxer but what a heart and chin! 👏👏
What a warrior 🥊
Thats called HEART.
fantastic battler
I just love this commentator
Great fight
Type of round that makes or breaks a career. Just wanting it more can get you over the line sometimes
Have to give Taylor props he had heart to take that kind of pounding!
Commentary on this one is superb
Froch fought like a champion, but Taylor fought like a warrior.
Froch looked like an assassin once Taylor started to go. No rush, just walked him down.
Love this fight.Amazing finish.
