    I got the chance to play Jason Becker's original "Numbers" guitar that was used to record Perpetual Burn and had to attempt a little excerpt from "Altitudes" to honor Jason. This one-of-a-kind original shred-history guitar is going up for auction to pay for Jason's lifetime of ALS medical expenses, so myself and many other musicians are playing it to raise awareness. This horrific disease could happen to any of us.

      @@joshsfox6266 This is actually a good idea as a Go Fund Me would remove that element. However, publicity might be a problem, you would have to spam forums and these comments to make sure people donated. So I can see where it would be a lot of trouble but if you put forth the effort who knows what can happen, I've seen crazier things happen.

    • @evilcowboy
      @evilcowboy Před 3 lety +2

      I am sorry to hear about your wife, I know how devastating that can be and I do hope she is doing well. Both Becker and Hawking managed to get the disease to stop progressing, Becker attributes it to the diet his fiance' made him follow early on, she is why the song 'Serrana' exists and is named after her, Hawking believed it was his will to live and refusal to give up that caused it to stop. So it may be worth looking into both of them to learn if there is anything you can do to help her.
      I wish all the best for you and your wife, its a horrible disease and shouldn't exist. I know it may sound cliche' but when I was faced with my daughter as a baby having RDS (meaning her lungs were failing she was on 100% oxygen so just not breathing) I talked to God. He did what they could not, they even asked us if we wanted her baptized for her funeral, thats how close to death she was. The very next day her O2 was 80% then kept dropping rapidly and she went home......she is 22 now.
      I remember clearly thanking the doctor in the hospital, his exact words was "it wasn't anything I did, that is a miracle because medicine cannot explain what just happened."
      Its not mysterious of why he answers some people's prayers and others not, its doesn't have anything to do with any type of religious dogma (God never said anything bad about himself we did that to him). He can only act when it is an act that will not violate free will for the person the prayer is for, I know its hard to hear but some people do want to die when they have an illness that is permanent, he will honor her free will before he honors the wishes of another person because it is a gift he granted and no one on Earth has the power or authority to remove it, even if it is for a good cause. I am not saying she wants to leave, I am saying the prayer needs to come from her and you both.
      God is a lot of things, some we can understand and some we cannot, but one thing he is not is a liar. He keeps every decree he ever made, and he regards free will as the highest gift next to life he ever gave. Thats why it needs to come from both of you.
      Even though some of that may have been very hard to hear, please know that it is from a place of goodness and understanding. I am not saying this to try and upset you, I am saying it because I empathize completely with this and I am just wanting you to know that there is a parameter there and it has always been there. I also want to give you the information that will give you a better chance of it working the same way it has for me on literally every occasion I wasn't trying to violate someone's free will through asking him.
      I don't actually pray, I don't bargain, I ask as if he is the one who created me, like you would ask your dad for a favor. And no I don't believe in or like organized religion, my belief is there is a God and he put us here to learn, thats it. I have seen a lot more happen when I allow God to not be encumbered by a religious dogma, basically he is allowed to be God because I never defined parameters in my belief in him, they all did and all treat it like they dictate him and let a book define a dictation to literally control God himself. I simply can't be a part of that, now that I know he can and does exist outside the bounds of any book.
      Sorry for the long post, I just felt like you needed some kindness and I am unsure of why what you wrote almost brought me to tears but it did. Take care and best wishes for both you and your wife.

    Too bad most will be bought by scalpers or some rich single person who never lets them see daylight again. At least Jason will be able to pay his bills though, so thats good.

    Instead of torturing us with his wah pedal and the same recycled pentatonic lick he's been recycling for 30 years, why don't Hammet do something good and use some of his hundreds of millions of dollars to buy these up and pay for Jason's medical expenses. And every millionaire rock star influenced by him could pitch in as well by buying a little less coke and contributing to a worthy cause. Where is Diamond Dave in all of this?

      I wouldn't be shocked if Kirk doesn't even know who Jason is. It was like when Lars met Richard Christy in the Howard Stern studio and had never heard of him before.

      @@blppt I wouldn't be surprised. I saw that video you're talking about, it was about John Bonham I think. I didn't know Lars hadn't heard of him. Wow, Lars should have known. And Lars, though no Lombardo or Benante is a hundred times the musician Hammet is, so you're probably right

      @@fredhagy7730 Nah, it was earlier, back before COVID when Lars was actually in the studio with Stern, Richard, and the gang.
