This is why I fucking love grunge. All the bands, all from the same genre, all knew each other and were all friends. Like even before the grunge hit mainstream, all the bands knew each other and saw each other play.

Yeah well it wasn't mainstream at the time it was sort of underground not everyone even liked it it was a bit punkish almost then it morphed into the "alternative rock" genre and gained more acceptance it was not on every radio station though it had more of a cult following as they say.
Steam Junky I wish people would stop using that word. It's borderline derogatory at this point. The bands deserve better than that. Nirvana was Rock, AiC is and was Metal, with some experimentation on the side.
GOLDENFLYWARRIOR lol how old are you? fucking 60? with a fake profile of a young girl? leave the kid alone your a disgrace to people who like this music and yes people as young as 14 can like 90s 80s 70s or 60s music just like you do chump
The scream chorus gives me some fucking shivers! if Nirvana and Alice in Chains did a collaboration on one song, I think the world would have exploded in the early 90s from the overwhelm of those two gut wrenching screams and voices.
I was not expecting Kurt's vocals to come in with the AIC track. I must say I rather enjoyed it and I thought it fit the video with all the pictures of different band members hanging out together. What I enjoyed the most tho was how the song opened up my imagination and I thought about how cool it would really be if Kurt and Layne were both still here, healthy! What it would be like getting to hear these guys collaborating with other artist for real. I'm sure most Kurt fans know that he was preparing to collaborate with Michael Stipe from REM right before he died. Strange right? Not really tho, at first I was kind of like, what! Why would Kurt want to collaborate with Michael Stipe of all people? The two bands are nothing alike. That was just the immaturity in me. When in fact they are a lot alike even tho Nirvana's music was a lot heavier then REM. They both have an incredible knack for melody and lyrics to the point where it's almost perfect, so perfect that our ears most likely wouldn't have been able to receive it. Our brains would have melted resulting in instant death. And I probably would have still listened to it regardless of the side effects. Miss Kurt, miss Layne, miss grunge, that era is one of my most cherished experiences in life as a teenager. When you feel like you have the world by the balls and you can do anything. Enjoy your youth kids because it will be gone in the blink of an eye. Dream big and don't ever lose your imagination.
So I dont feel like I have the world by the balls and Im 15. Plus my imagination is shit compared to the way it use to be. What do I do? This is from what I've been told not how normal kids are suppose to feel.
High school sucks for all kids, but at least we had some really great music to listen to while we were teenagers. I pity the terrible shit these kids have to listen to these days. That's the one really good thing about our generation. We were really lucky to grow up at a time when sincere music was popular and in the mainstream.
+jimmy fabs Wow, what a great comment! I agree. I miss that era so much. Long before all the social media, internet, American Idol crap, there were real bands who started out in their garage, broke, just playing music because it felt good. Kids coming together to create music, smashing their guitars and drums, just going nuts and having fun. I miss the purity of it.
+Jared Thompson I remember feeling like that at 15. Grunge music really spoke to me in those days. I hated high school, felt lonely most of the time, life kinda sucked. I don't know what "normal" is supposed to feel like when you're 15, and I doubt I was anywhere close back then. But it does get better. As you get older, it just kinda changes along with your perspective. Just ride it out, see where it takes you. It's all a journey.
I'm from Seattle, I grew up with all these bands for better or worse. Experienced a great moment in time for about 4 years and I salute this as a salute to the Seattle music community, past ,present and for the future of music this city has. Bad ass job.
loving the combo of layne and kurt plus got pics of pearl jam and chris cornell and all the good ole grunge boys back in days...great song and pics in the video.....but Layne..my god at vocal ability
Wow, Layne's voice goes awesome with Kurts scream. Not just the harmony, but since they both sing from the soul it's twice as good. If someone put alot of work with good software, I bet you could create awesome mixed songs from these dead singers. I mean these two voices need to be put together and harmonized. If I had the software I love to give it a try, but it will take talent.Anyway this is a Brilliant idea. The title is misleading and there is no information written, but this is a good start
Man what great photos! How I wish I was around late 80s in Seattle and experience the underground scene before everyone blew up to fame. Must have been a magical moment. I was born in 1991, so still fortunate to grow up listening to these legends (my whole family are hardcore grungers.) My first ever concert was Foo fighters when I was 13. Saw Pearl Jam when I was 15. And saw Chris Cornell solo a couple of years back. But still not close enough to late 80s / early 90s. I badly want to see Mudhoney, there's still hope! Layne and Kurt are nothing alike! Not even sure why the two get compared. Unlike Kurt, Layne could actually sing. He was actually a hair band vocalist originally...and was damn good at it. The man had talent and it's a shame he went out the way he did. Long live Layne.
sandromnator do worry about it, this man looking thingy doesn't know talent if it hits him...its the same situation when he trys to find the G spot but fails😂
Sure layne was a better singer but he couldn’t write hit records... that’s why Jerry wrote everything for him. There’s a difference between just being a singer/performer and an actual artist. Kurt’s song writing went triple platinum and #1 on billboard, that’s pure talent and on top of that he was a decent singer. I’d rather have both than one or the other. Decent singer with superior creativity beats a great singer with no creativity, as an artist and musician.

jimmy fabs, i agree, that was a memorable time in my life too. the world was just better period. music was better, fun times. no responsibilities. feeling bittersweet right now brother.
@@DontJinxItYet yup, their assholes but I saw them in concert last summer and they sounded amazing, almost better than they used to and you've got to give them the credit of being nearly the only hair band that survived and thrived through the grunge transition.
Oh ok , I get it now..that is why when I was in the line to get in at "the croc," someone mentioned about new management , it was around May 2012. When I went to Seattle for the first time in 1991 I only stayed 2 weeks, I was too young, only 16 so I was so able to do a lot of things lol. I really don't understand why there's so much hate for this mix. I honestly love it. Everyone has their own tastes and opinions though.
On a side note, does anyone know exactly what the music is from? I know it is the music to Man in the Box, but it's obviously not the original. Is the guitar solo from Jerry Cantrell or what? Thanks
Because for whatever reason some Alice in chains fans need to shit on Nirvana any chance they get cause it's apparently Nirvana's fault Alice in chains aren't as well known. I personally like Alice in chains better, but I like them both
Song- not so much. Pictures- awesome! Lot of history there!

@Beth Meyers Absolutely true, we're all fragile but we keep acting hard to not show our weaknesses

I saw some interwels he confirmed liked pearl jam.
who wouldnt, vedder is an arrogant ass.
@@DontJinxItYet yup, their assholes but I saw them in concert last summer and they sounded amazing, almost better than they used to and you've got to give them the credit of being nearly the only hair band that survived and thrived through the grunge transition.
Nirvana in Chains! Smells like 2 sweet angry angels singing in Paradise!
I went back for 5 days in 1993, I was able to feel a little bit of grunge era that changed me forever . I am sure you will be able to go to Seattle again, and the grunge era still alive inside of many of us
