    I just quit the industry after 26 years working in front office of hotels. Short staffed, abusive guests and management with their head in the sand. It is a far cry from the prestige and well structured industry I joined in 1996. All my colleagues have left as well. The wheels have fallen off.

      As someone who spent 7 years in both Marriott and Hilton franchises as a night audit, I cannot agree more. It's exactly the same thing everywhere. From staffing issues to awful people you have to smile at, the amount of money you have to handle compared to what you earn, working weird and insufferable hours of the day with just a single day off in a week being the norm... Almost every single person I met in this industry don't check the road before crossing the street.
