I don't think I've ever broken a mechanical pencil by accident before. The problem with most people's mechanical pencils is not that they're cheap, but rather that they lose them/have them stolen.
Yes this exactly. I like having eraser on the end, not a crappy stylus. Why would I need a stylus if I'm drawing on paper? Also this pencil has no clip so everyone that has it will have it roll off their desk and get lost in short order. The makers of this $70 have over inflated egos and no common sense. I can buy 120 plastic mechanical pencils from staples for $70.... Boom lifetime supply for most people.
That's true the only reason people lose them or are stolen is because they're so cheap now with me the modern fuel 2.0 it never leaves my house I'd rather take a $25 pen and pencil set outside the house that way if I lose it no big deal but my modern fuels 2.0 pen and pencil set stays at home on my desk where I use it everyday that way it never gets lost or stolen

Yes I will. Because I use different pencils for different parts of my art. Ussually I prefer light not so amazing quality mechanical pencils for sketching. A really dark art pencil for finalising and when shading I prefer a softer pencil that can provide a range or tones.
i love you people, i have not bought pencils in over three years i just pick them off the ground. one time i did find a fancy ink pen and i gave it to the campus lost and found but usually i just keep unless they look special. thats the only one i ever found that looked like it was worth more then a dollar. and it had a name engraved on it :/

I am a mechanic and use to draw loads of technical plans. I use this pencil everyday. It lost the clip to clip it on paper or clothes, but I don't need it. And the brand writing has worn completely off. Other than that it does its' job great. No need to buy a 70 bucks pencil. Edit: typo

This is the only reason people get packs. Finals time and you run class to class. Lot of movement and high pressure and you're bound to lose like 10. Just like a guitarist loses picks.

The title of the video is saying that you will never need another pencil. To me and many other people this implies it will never break and you will never need a new one. But you would still need to buy graphite for the entire time you have it. Even if it reduces plastic waste, it will be way more expensive than a normal mechanical pencil. Because it's made out of metal, I'm assuming about 10$

1. The pencil has nothing but metal to grip, not only will this be cold on the hands especially in colder environments but it will also be slippery with this material. The all rounded sides won't help either, normal pencils usually won't be perfectly rounded to increase the user's grip. This thing looks like a bitch to hold. 2. If the pencils so important to last forever you're gonna want to put your name somewhere on it right? Unless you write like in sharpie straight onto the base there won't be anywhere to put it and that's gonna ruin that sleek design they're going for. I feel like normal pencil designs are already supierior to this product and what's best is they're meant to be expendable so you don't have to stress over a stupid pencil. This shit looks like a scam for pretentious customers who like shiny things.
I have three Pentel 200 mechanical pencils, a P205, a P207, and a P209 that I bought more than thirty years ago. I used these professionally, and each pencil has more than half a million words on it, plus God only knows how many miles of lines from drafting, and drawings, doodles, etc. These pencils have plastic barrels, but they do have brass clutches, which is what matters. All three still work fine. This said, I have nothing against spending a lot of money on a pencil. I have three mechanical pencils that, together, cost a bit more than sixteen hundred dollars. These pencils are not only beautiful, they're made to be heirloom quality, which means they're supposed to last more than one lifetime. There are also a fair number of pencils at the hundred and twenty-five dollar mark that make the Grommet look cheap, and that will also last a lifetime. For that matter, I have a number of less used mechanical pencils that are fifty years old and still going. I even have a Parker Duofold that I do use often, and it's not too far from a hundred years old. It works as well as it did when brand new. But get real. The huge, massive majority of pencils that end up in landfills are those used by school kids. Kids can't afford expensive pencils, and no parent is going to buy pencils for their kids that cost more than a few dollars. They'd be lost of stolen or permanently borrowed in nothing flat. In other words, the Grommet, and Kickstarter pencils like it, are the answer to a question that no one asked. For me to buy a Kickstarter pencil, it has to be beautiful, it has to be well made, it has to be functional, and it has to have the features I can get it a five dollar to ten pencil. This is where Kickstarter pencils fall on their collective faces. Every Kickstarter pencil I've seen but one is a plain Jane in every way. Even that one, which was beautiful, had no features at all, and used the guts from a Pentel 200 pencil. I'm not paying a hundred or more dollars just to wrap a metal body around the guts of a three dollar and fifty cent pencil. I guess it's just too difficult to make a Kickstarter pencil that has fetures such as a hardness window, a way to choose how much lead to extrude with one click, or a siding sleeve. But for big money, I want thee things, or, as with my expensive pencils, I want silver and gold. A lot of silver and gold. A claim that the pencil will last a lifetime is simply not enough. I already have a number of pencils that will last a lifetime. Even two or three lifetimes.

Rocki Road It has an eraser in the video. The stylus piece is an attachment. I'd assume it's customizable. Anyway, I prefer mechanical pencils without erasers because I always wear down the eraser to the point of not being able to take it out to replace the lead.
Honestly I’ve been using the same mechanical pencil for years now. Not anything expensive but something that I have taken care of. If you can take care of something it will last you a “lifetime”.
Cheap pencils are useful because they're cheap and you don't have to worry too much if you lose one. If you buy this one you'll have to worry about losing it like it's your phone, and when you do lose it you won't have any writing utensils left because "You'll never need another pencil"

If you have to continuously replace the lead why not buy any other metal mechanical pencil? There's many out there that are just as durable as the one shown but for a cheaper price.
The only feature I see here is that it is made of metal. Does it rotate the lead each time you press it down so that you always have a sharp edge? Does it prevent you from overfeeding the lead? High-end mechanical pencils do that.

My $2 mechanical pencil lasted me a year, then my "friend" stole it. As im writing this, she is using it. I have watched her use it for half a year now. Its a dope pencil. EDIT: Okay, ya girl got a better one. It's $1. Don't know the brand, but it's light blue and has a penguin charm. An even doper pencil.
I only give mine to artists in my class if I really have to. They have custom designs on them so I can tell which one was HB and which one was 2B but that also makes them really recognisable an minimises the risk of people forgetting to give it back. It probably won't do anything against assholes, though.

I mean, avoid over sharing your things or else your class mates will mostly ask to you and you can just imagine how annoying that is. Being generous is actually good but over sharing is not, as they can become more dependent for things on you.

This is wonderful, metal for all of the complex parts of a mechanical pencil is great. But, I do wonder if the founder has heard of Mono mechanical pencils. Sure, the mechanics aren't metal, but it is incredibly high quality. Heck, my mom had one for 2 decades and it didn't break.

Some schools (my school included) don't allow pencils when we write, only when we draw or take notes. Especialy on a test.

The title of the video is saying that you will never need another pencil. To me and many other people this implies it will never break and you will never need a new one. But you would still need to buy graphite for the entire time you have it. Even if it reduces plastic waste, it will be way more expensive than a normal mechanical pencil. Because it's made out of metal, I'm assuming about 10$
but wouldn't it be a one time thing to buy, though, if it's more durable than the average mechanical pencil?

It may take extreme strength but it's possible. Now obviously you aren't going to try and snap it yourself, but you can easily lose it as well
I really like the Pentel Twist erase iii. They seem to be pretty durable and have a pretty substantial eraser built in.

1. The pencil has nothing but metal to grip, not only will this be cold on the hands especially in colder environments but it will also be slippery with this material. The all rounded sides won't help either, normal pencils usually won't be perfectly rounded to increase the user's grip. This thing looks like a bitch to hold.
2. If the pencils so important to last forever you're gonna want to put your name somewhere on it right? Unless you write like in sharpie straight onto the base there won't be anywhere to put it and that's gonna ruin that sleek design they're going for.
I feel like normal pencil designs are already supierior to this product and what's best is they're meant to be expendable so you don't have to stress over a stupid pencil. This shit looks like a scam for pretentious customers who like shiny things.
I paid $100 dollars for an Apple Pencil and it can't even write on paper.
I have three Pentel 200 mechanical pencils, a P205, a P207, and a P209 that I bought more than thirty years ago. I used these professionally, and each pencil has more than half a million words on it, plus God only knows how many miles of lines from drafting, and drawings, doodles, etc. These pencils have plastic barrels, but they do have brass clutches, which is what matters. All three still work fine.
This said, I have nothing against spending a lot of money on a pencil. I have three mechanical pencils that, together, cost a bit more than sixteen hundred dollars. These pencils are not only beautiful, they're made to be heirloom quality, which means they're supposed to last more than one lifetime.
There are also a fair number of pencils at the hundred and twenty-five dollar mark that make the Grommet look cheap, and that will also last a lifetime. For that matter, I have a number of less used mechanical pencils that are fifty years old and still going.
I even have a Parker Duofold that I do use often, and it's not too far from a hundred years old. It works as well as it did when brand new.
But get real. The huge, massive majority of pencils that end up in landfills are those used by school kids. Kids can't afford expensive pencils, and no parent is going to buy pencils for their kids that cost more than a few dollars. They'd be lost of stolen or permanently borrowed in nothing flat.
In other words, the Grommet, and Kickstarter pencils like it, are the answer to a question that no one asked. For me to buy a Kickstarter pencil, it has to be beautiful, it has to be well made, it has to be functional, and it has to have the features I can get it a five dollar to ten pencil. This is where Kickstarter pencils fall on their collective faces.
Every Kickstarter pencil I've seen but one is a plain Jane in every way. Even that one, which was beautiful, had no features at all, and used the guts from a Pentel 200 pencil. I'm not paying a hundred or more dollars just to wrap a metal body around the guts of a three dollar and fifty cent pencil.
I guess it's just too difficult to make a Kickstarter pencil that has fetures such as a hardness window, a way to choose how much lead to extrude with one click, or a siding sleeve. But for big money, I want thee things, or, as with my expensive pencils, I want silver and gold. A lot of silver and gold.
A claim that the pencil will last a lifetime is simply not enough. I already have a number of pencils that will last a lifetime. Even two or three lifetimes.

Rocki Road It has an eraser in the video. The stylus piece is an attachment. I'd assume it's customizable. Anyway, I prefer mechanical pencils without erasers because I always wear down the eraser to the point of not being able to take it out to replace the lead.

Honestly I’ve been using the same mechanical pencil for years now. Not anything expensive but something that I have taken care of. If you can take care of something it will last you a “lifetime”.
Cheap pencils are useful because they're cheap and you don't have to worry too much if you lose one. If you buy this one you'll have to worry about losing it like it's your phone, and when you do lose it you won't have any writing utensils left because "You'll never need another pencil"

I've been using my plastic Bic mechanical pencil and kneadable eraser for almost 30 years.
I have a mechanical pencil from 5 years ago. And it's still great. Only downside is that eraser is no more, but instead I use an eraser.

I've never broken a plastic pencil but I've lost them, so I think I'm still good with using the cheaper one.
My $2 mechanical pencil lasted me a year, then my "friend" stole it. As im writing this, she is using it. I have watched her use it for half a year now. Its a dope pencil.

I only give mine to artists in my class if I really have to. They have custom designs on them so I can tell which one was HB and which one was 2B but that also makes them really recognisable an minimises the risk of people forgetting to give it back. It probably won't do anything against assholes, though.

Being generous is actually good but over sharing is not, as they can become more dependent for things on you.
