I’m totally in love with my 5wt opst microskagit rod, it’s such a pleasure to cast.
Perfect tool for Australian estuary fishing.
Great to hear!
Yes please review the OPST Pure skagit rod please, please, please.............specifically the 8wt.
Great review! Thanks. How do you think the OPST 3wt compares to the lighter 1wt/2wt Sage rods?
I got the 9’9 3wt and love it
Super fun rod. Hope you get plenty of use out of it this year!
Ben, Thanks for another great review! Did you ever sort out what Scandi line pairs up with this rod? I am specifically thinking of using it for wet flies. Merry Christmas
Try the SA Spey Lite Scandi
@@Tridentflyfishing What weight?
@@crp6523 bump
I have the 4wt with a 210 grain SA Skagit Lite. Casts occasionally collapse on themselves. I'd try not to exceed the grain window. Been fishing it for about a year.
Are you happy with the setup overall?
@@Tridentflyfishing mostly yes, but just trying to get more consistent results
How would this rod fare with casting indicator rigs (two nymphs+ splitshot+ indicator) on small to medium sized rivers.
Tyson Seafoot sure
Great review! Do we know the price on that bad-boy?
$599 available here: www.tridentflyfishing.com/opst-micro-skagit-series-two-handed-fly-rod.html
Can you compare the pieroway renegade to the opst micro skagit line or have any comments?
Haven't tried the Pieroway Renegade but can personally vouch for the OPST. Very fun rod
I want to see someone fish with this. I want it bad but between a pulse sage or this with my opst 175 grain headsetup.
The Micro Skagit is such a fun rod, and the build quality is top notch, too. Try it out!
Did he ever say the price or if it was available ?
$599 available here: www.tridentflyfishing.com/opst-micro-skagit-series-two-handed-fly-rod.html
The commando style line was actually introduced in the 60s. Just saying.
What reel are you using?
Most of our rod tests are done with a Lamson Liquid.
@@Tridentflyfishing The reason I asked this question is I am about to. purchase this in a 4 weight and will be using Lazar (mono) running line. There doesn't seem to be a fly reel suitable for micro spey rods utilizing mono running line, i.e. a full frame reel in the appropriate weight.
@@123hurst3 Have you checked out the Hardy Ultradisc?
