  • Wythall Transport Museum held the "Fleetline 55" Running Day to celebrate the 55th anniversary of the type last Sunday. 4943, being almost 55 years old and the only D10 surviving, also took part in the running day.
D10 was an advanced and unorthodox double decker designed in 1958, with maximum seating capacity and driver-only-operation (DOO) in mind. It adopted the mid-engine layout of BMMO single deckers, and inherited some novel features like rubber suspension from D9.
D10 is indeed an advanced design but it was less than successful in operation. Midland Red later introduced Daimler Fleetlines as their standard DOO double decker.
    Thank you for watching!

I wonder what's the reason behind the sloped driver-side windscreen.

To combat internal reflections at night. Many bus designs of the 40s, 50s and 60s incorporated this feature irrespective of manufacturer. Some designs included an opening section for ventilation.
