  • The Transport Museum at Wythall had planned to hold "Midland Red Day", an event celebrating Midland Red buses and coaches in May 2020. With the unfortunate cancellation of that event, here is a look back at the October 2012 running day with the same theme.
    A large collection of Midland Red vehicles were present, including the 1940 BMMO SON 2418 (GHA 337), 1950 S12 3744 (NHA744), S14 4255 (UHA 255), dual-purpose S15 5056 (5056 HA) and 5073 (5073 HA), S16 5545 (6545 HA), S17 5767 (EHA 767D), S22 5901 (MHA 901F), S23 5956 (UHA 956H), D7 4482 (XHA 482), the Leyland Titan PD2/12 LD8 4031 (SHA 431), D9 5016 (3016 HA) which saw service with Obsolete Fleet in London as an open top bus (not living up to its nickname "The Rainmaker" on this occasion!), D9 5399 (BHA 399C), D9 5424 (EHA 424D), the underfloor-engined double decker D10 4943 (943 KHA), the Alexander-bodied Daimler Fleetline DD12 (GHA 415D) and coaches C1 3311 (KHA 311) and CM6T 5656 (BHA 656C). Also present were Birmingham buses 1107 (CVP 207) and 2976 (JOJ 976), Crosville Bristol L5G KG 126 (KFM 775), Trent SOS SON 417 (RC 7927), West Bromwich Daimlers 156 (FEA 156) and 248 (248 NEA), Browns Blue AEC Regent III RT KLB 956 and Stratford Blue Leyland Leopard HAC 628D.

'Worst thing' in many places when the P.T.E./N.B.C. set-up came along. As with B.R. (1948) only 15 years were to elapse before everything was pulled to bits (B.R. with the 1963 Beeching Report con, the buses with the post-1985 privatisation chaos).
