  • Walmart enters the collectibles and sports card space, but it won't matter. Also, card breakers will most likely need to have some sort of gambling license in the near future.

    Gambling license? Granted it's a chance, it's also a chance if i buy a box from a store. Does that mean wal mart target etc will also need to get a license. We all know the risks. We all know the odds. Why I agree thar as a collector it is a gamble. But I have thousands of cards that I have bought. The only difference is, some of those cards have been absolutely amazing. Others not so much. Is it a gamble yes. But I know when I leave a casino I might jot leave with a good in my hand(more than likely an empty wallet).
    Ajd as far as those machines go. Those are not gambling. Thats a mystery box for 50 bucks. U know what ur getting. If i buy a scratcher i expect to get nothing, 50 bucks for something guaranteed graded is not gambling.

    You didn’t specifically mention it, but I think I get your point about deregulation potentially fostering innovation and reducing costs. However, it's important to remember that without adequate regulations, businesses may take shortcuts that compromise safety and quality.
    This can lead to serious issues, such as the risks posed by cheap, poorly made electronic products that can cause fires-ie stuff sold on Temu or Alibaba. Effective regulations help ensure that businesses maintain high standards, protecting consumers and preventing catastrophic failures.
    Please consider this the next time you advocate for deregulation. I don’t think anyone wants this.

    • @TheSportsCardDad
      @TheSportsCardDad  Před 20 dny +1

      Balance to this debate is key. If we are looking at extremes, folks use to die in manufacturing factories because there were no worker protections. And so, of course common sense regulation is needed. But I think that's the key, as long as its not overreaching. Just one guys opinion

    • @Mod_Kult
      @Mod_Kult Před 20 dny

      @@TheSportsCardDad I get your point about finding a balance with regulations. We definitely need them to prevent issues like unsafe working conditions, but it’s also important that they don’t go overboard.
      Sometimes though, it feels like the push against regulations comes more from corporate interests than from what’s best for everyone.
      Instead of just accepting general arguments about over-regulation, I think it’s worth looking at specific examples to see where the line should be drawn. I understand that some concerns are real, while in other cases, it’s a matter of perception or even what’s best for the bottom line. Maybe taking things on a case-by-case basis would make more sense, as it’s a complex topic to navigate.

    there is no legislation even proposed in any state (since gambling rules happen very slowly state by state ). It would be years before any state takes action to change current laws to cover breaking.

    • @TheSportsCardDad
      @TheSportsCardDad  Před 27 dny

      What if a state decides this action always was gambling and should have been disclosed as such?

    • @krishdasgupta7313
      @krishdasgupta7313 Před 27 dny

      The what is and isn’t “gambling” falls under a certain rule set for each state. For instance, casino gambling has different rules than sports betting which has different rules than online sports betting which has different rules for lotteries. It’s been argued before that breaking might closely resemble “keno” - where you pre-pay for a set of numbers that can run cyclically. But the differences are many.
      Also important to note is that if states do address this (remember federally online gambling is legal - to allow each state to make their own rules restrictively) - then a breaker would have to have a location in EVERY state it’s operating in, and customers could only break if they are in that state.
      Long and short of it, no current gaming restriction is in place to regulate breaking. It would have to be proposed through state legislature. Usually one politician takes the lead in some state and becomes the martyr.

    • @krishdasgupta7313
      @krishdasgupta7313 Před 27 dny

      Fanatics Live might be in a good position here, since Fanatics Sportsbooks are in nearly every legal sports online gaming state. Just slap a fake breaking room on the “sports casino” and you are good to go. This would assume breakers are employed by fanatics or at least tied to them as such. Whatnot would be screwed
