It's time to teach cocky Rocket League players a lesson. I offered $100 to any toxic player who could beat the rank above them. The catch is that they are actually playing against their OWN rank instead. With the pressure of money on the line and thinking their opponent is insane, can these Rocket League players even beat their own rank?

@@xenbtw9336 I’m D1 in 3’s, D2 in 2’s and D3 in 1’s.. I’ve been these ranks consistently for a couple seasons now.
I think it all comes down to how well you master certain mechanics and your playstyle.
@@1MoreWin most likely I’m the same rank in 2s and 1s (Both a couple games off of gc2) ones is by far the best way to improve I don’t play much 3s but whenever I do I really don’t lose because of my 1s skill pretty easy to convert to 3s

You gotta do this in 2v2 or 3v3. 1s players are overwhelmingly more consistent than people who main 3s or 2s. You can usually tell if your teammates play 1s at all because they have good game sense

Since some of them are still saying "I wish he was my teammate" or "I'd be this rank with him as my teammate"
Now take all of those players and put them in a 2v2 showmatch against opponents who are the same rank to see if they finally take responsibility for their actions
I feel like one big issue with this is that telling them the other player is higher puts pressure on them - a more accurate test would be to literally just have them 1v1 their own rank knowing they’re the same rank to give them comfort, or even to tell them the other person is LOWER than they are to make them feel even more confident.

How the hell can you be better at ones and higher in rank in your ones than your 2s and 3s, I have NEVER had my 1s rank higher than my 2s or 3s, it’s very rare to even have the same rank. Sure I might be a diamond 1 div 3 in 2s and 3s, and my ones has only peaked at plat 3 div 4.

People need to understand, sometimes people have off days, sometimes they're tired, sometimes they have other problems, sometimes they genuinely are lagging. The only people I get pissed off with are the idiots who are toxic and think spamming will make me play better, when it actually does the complete opposite. Someone who can't recognise their own mistakes are the ones who need to be banned.

I agree. Being C2 I'm 1s is much harder than C2 in 2s. 1s rank is generally harder to achieve. And the fact that this is 1s instead of 2s or 3s which is what most players main just makes it even less accurate

These people will never change. Forever thinking everyone else is the problem while never assessing/analysing their OWN gameplay and mistakes.
Imo, that's what really separates the great players from the just better than average players. Great players notice their own mistakes and try to eliminate them going forward. These players never want to admit fault (out of embarrassment?) so never actually learn to stop making these mistakes.
I actually think that 90% of people are exactly at the rank they deserve. It's easy to only realise the bad teammate and not to see when they carry you. The rule of the big numbers give you the same amount of bad teammates as bad enemies. The 10% only comes from the problems of soloqueue (when you keep losing because of the ragequitters at 1:0, and some smurfs), so you can be a little bit lower than your actual skill, but that's just a very tiny difference, and if you play in a premade team of your rank, you can avoid that. I hate when golds or plats say that it's just their teammates' fault they lose. I soloqueued myself to champion in 6 categories (and 1 gc), how is that possible then? Maybe because that's my current skill? :O

Right? I always thought if you can’t consistently carry your teammates every game you deserve the rank you’re in. Top of the scoreboard / hard carry at least 90% of your games. If you can’t carry then you are on the same skill level, not higher. Some people may be better at certain mechanics and bad at others and it balances out into the rank they have. Plus people hyper-focus on the things their teammates aren’t perfect at (especially if they themselves can do those mechanics) and ignore the things their teammates are good at.
@@Timorias I agree with a lot of what you said (especially the second part) but I disagree with the whole you gotta be able to hard carry 90% of games (or even the majority of games) or else you're on the same skill level as the people in a lobby. It's a team game, so unless the skill gap is considerable (like 3 or 4 ranks at least), there's no guarantee someone will be able to carry just cause they're overall better. I've played with people a few ranks higher than me that were clearly better but their rotations/passes were so different from what I'm used to that we just weren't in sync. Plus, there's play styles too so the scoreboard is not the best indicator of skill either... I'm very passive and patient so if I'm playing with a ball chaser they're most likely gonna be top of the scoreboard simply cause they'll probably be getting more touches than I do. Doesn't mean they're necessarily better (heck, those are usually the easier players to deal with in the enemy team).

I’m higher than the rank I should be. I was up to D3 and i took a break for 2 or 3 months came back and i’ve been losing every game it’s pretty frustrating

The toxic rocket league mentality around plat/diamond/champ is that where players think if their teammates aren’t mechanically skilled and are whiffing etc., then that teammate doesn’t deserve to be in that rank. But if someone on the other team is mechanically skilled and not making many mistakes then that must mean they are smurfing.
Here’s an idea. Match toxic players with players of a much higher rank but tell them it’s their rank

my favorite ppl are the ones ho get mad at you for trying to give them advice. I love playing casual getting a rude team8 then getting to play the next match against them. and take advantage of the mistake they refused to fix.
Just something to note, a Champ 2 in 1s is typically going to be a lot better than a Champ 2 in 2's or 3's. Same goes for any of the ranks. The resistance level for 1's is a lot tougher than it is for the other game modes. Personally I peaked at GC3 in 2's but couldn't make it out of champ 2 in 1's. Competition is a lot harder relative to the rank bestowed in 1's.
Meh…im higher in ones than i am in twos tho…GC in 1’s, and hovering between C2 and C3 in twos. I think it just depends on the type of player you are.

For me, I went from plat 3 to champ 1 in less than day. I was hardstuck plat 3 for like 2 months, and then just shot past diamond like it was nothing. Im GC1-2 now depending on the mode.

the biggest issue with this video concept is that a player who can only reach a certain rank with a team is going to have no chance beating the rank above them in 1s... i realize they are secretly playing their own ranks here, but the argument they are actually making is closer to "I could fit in and keep up with the rank above me, IF someone carried me there." Which is sort of hilarious.
Edit: before someone complains about my comment, what I was trying to say is that there is almost zero players who can reach diamond in 1s crying that they cant reach diamond in teams. It's always a team player claiming "I dont play 1s" and guess what? they cant reach their rank in 1s... I wonder what's happening there :)
1s is like a square while 2s and 3s is like a rectangle. You can be good at 2s and 3s if your good at 1s in some situations and if you know how to adapt but you do NOT have an advantage in 1s if you only play 2s or 3s.
I find it hilarious the all the toxic ppl are the worst of their rank as well. Makes for Gud clips when u clap toxic ppl like them before dis vid lmao

I’d honestly like to see people like RetroSpectre playing in their preferred playlists. I lose to plats in ones and I’m a diamond 2 in twos. I honestly think that having them play with a preferred playlist would be better.

A few comments. 1 vs 1 is a purest competition, but is quite unique from the rest of Rocket League, it's almost its own thing. The ability to kickoff really well is 50% of 1 vs 1, I've played against people that smoke me 11 - 1 just on kickoffs, who knows what their actual gameplay mechanics are. So, I would agree that 1 vs 1 isn't necessarily the best prediction of being a good teammate. If they can't rotate, pass or play proper positioning in a team match, it's irrelevant if they can beat me 1 vs 1, especially when I play that mode the least.
I find that the ranks have more to do with consistency rather than capabilities. I've played with Diamonds that are better than Champions as a supporting teammate. I can play one game at C2 or C3 and get a great teammate, and I mean great in context of rotation, passing and positioning soundly, not necessarily a carry, we could even lose but I can tell they know what they're doing and we just went up against strong competition (this is still enjoyable). Other games I'll get a C2 or C3 teammate and they're in their own little world of 1 vs 2 against the other team and don't have a clue where to be when. Sometimes it's also play styles, not everyone has compatible playstyles. I'm bound to lose at least 3 or 4 games a session just on trolls alone who quit because of something they didn't like that you did, even when they're in the wrong. Had 1 guy try to dribble his bad pass and push it over my head when he should have just left it, got mad me and threw the rest of the game ...it's really annoying there are so many players like that at higher ranks.
I'm just surprised that at C2 or C3, the players aren't more consistent. I really do feel like if I had a good teammate I regularly played with, I could easily get to GC1 or GC2, but playing with randoms all the time each session feels like a wash usually winning/losing the same amount of matches. That would be fine if all the matches were enjoyable, but when you know you lost at least 3 or 4 matches from really bad teammates, it's really irritating.
I've seen Koda in my casual 1s sometimes even though I'm like D2 D3 in ranked 1s he is insane
Champ 2 in 1s is different than champ 2s in 2v2, but with that said, great video. Some of the edits made me crack up

I most of the time have bad teammates and I'm diamond but I learned its best to adjust to how your team mate is maybe you have weird play styles it doesn't mean their bad it means you are unable to adjust but there is times when they are terrible but not all the time

7:48 Speedflipping on KBM is very easy. Do your normal diag flip (W+A or D) and then immediately after flipping hold S. I like holding SHIFT while doing it because it makes the lineup a bit easier with powerslide already being pressed. Additionally for the flip, I like to just slide my middle finger off of W onto S. It shouldn't take more than an hour to be consistent at it but controlling the direction of the flip for kickoff can be a bit harder, just watch how pros lineup for kickoff and copy the position they start their flip at.
When I try that, it keeps the nose of the car pointed down, I never seem to be able to cancel as efficiently as it wants
