WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) - It’s a jarring number to hear. About 1,300 young people are in the foster care system just in Sedgwick County.
Jason Geesaman, the co-founder of Hope Fostered, a faith-based group that works to provide a higher level of care for children in the system, added that another seventy children enter the system each month. These also inside foster homes and group homes but do not even include the children who are at-risk of having to shift homes.
