- The WDR BIG BAND plays "Chrystal Silence" by Chick Corea. The main theme is played by Karolina Strassmayer on the flute. The arrangement for the WDR BIG BAND was penned by former chief conductor Michael Abene, who also leads the WDR BIG BAND in this concert. Recorded as part of the concert "Tribute to a Master - The Music of Chick Corea" on October 9, 2021 at the WDR Funkhaus / Cologne.

Yep ! one of the quintessentials for sure. One of the ones you just can't resist ... Message to all arrangers out there : raise your hand if you've never took a crack at arranging/ working on it somehow (regardless of style and/or personnel) ... I know I did :) Anyway this rendition is outstandingly classy -- pardon my French ... transforminig it into a flute concerto of sorts is just brilliant. Kudos !
