@@treshawnshannon I think it was so McQueen couldn't see the road and drove off into the graveyard. He doesn't have headlights so the moon was the only light source he had to stay on the road.

The animation for the recreation of the deleted scene "Lost" is pretty great. Just as good as the original. Although at 1:25, (the part where Lightning is swerving from left and right before he ends up back onto the road in reverse) it doesn't even look like Lightning McQueen is swerving from left and right after he is caught in the fence wires, but he appears to be driving straight and is barely swerving from left and right at all, compared to the original deleted scene in which McQueen is clearly swerving from left and right while he is entangled in the fence before going back on the road. Of course, the movements in the part in where Lightning is entangled in the fence before he ends up back on the road could've used more work, basically to make it a little more accurate compared to the movements of Lightning swerving in the original deleted scene, although the remake itself is still great otherwise.
Perhaps almost every animated movie have dark creepy scenes as part of the movie as a whole, but the storyboard get reviewed before the release and the directors decide to take it off because kids might be scared

Controlling the rig is pretty easy, but the whole work to make the rig it probably was the most difficult part of this animation

This scene was most likely removed from the Final Cut due to the creepy stuff in that scene.
They actually brought this scene back in radiator springs 500 1/2
But you see, while McQueen stumbles upon a graveyard of old cars, it didn't have the tumbleweeds in The Radiator Springs 500 1/2
