We LOVE The Wingfeather Saga! My daughter and I read the first book together this school year and are looking forward to reading them all. I love how reading together with our children creates such a special bond! How do you plan how many chapter books each of your children will read each school year? I feel like I always plan too much.
That’s a great question! I don’t really plan how many 😬 I just make a running list, and let them have opportunities to pick too, and when they finish one, they pick another from the list. If they don’t finish the list I made, it’s okay :) If they need more ideas, we get more! I don’t want to be too picky about how much they read. And this helps us to keep reading as an enjoyment and not a chore or a checkbox.
We love every single one of your "love" books...except for Henry and the Chalk Dragon. It is sitting in our to read pile after seeing it on Andrew Peterson desk during his wingfeather read aloud!! We haven't read a single one of the ones on your to do list though, so it gave us some ideas!
Great recommendations! I read Roll of Thunder Hear My Cry in middle school and loved it! I look forward to reading with my boys. I love your humor too.
i recommend *personalised childrens books* - it is still the same book but you're able to have them customized with certain labels and cover, making it special as a book gift
I get lots of books as gifts second-hand as my local bookstore ( that sells stationery, art supplies, games…) which are half or a quarter of the price of the brand new versions, and are in almost as good condition. I like The Wings of Fire series about a diverse group of dragons who are travelling round their country to understand a prophecy.
My 10 year old has read a number of books (both with me and also solo). Here are some of the better ones (according to him): The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien Skyward by Brandon Sanderson (he's currently reading the sequel) Hatchet by Gary Paulsen Call of the Wild by Jack London Watership Down by Richard Adams Where the Red Fern Grows by Wilson Rawls Invitation to the Game by Monica Hughes
Thanks for sharing your recommendation, I bought my daughter a book called wish by Barbara O'Connor for Christmas, I will be checking out the books that's your kids like also❤️
Not the series! There’s the 4 books, plus an extra “additional stories” about the same characters, but different authors. They are trying to create an animated movie or miniseries for Netflix!
How appropriate are these books? Our daughter just turned 10 and just got into reading wich we are thrilled by, but we want to make sure what she reads is appropriate. We are very strict about the media she can watch/ read and dont want her watching or reading anything innapropriate, anything with violence, sex, swearing, drugs or dark themes is not allowed and the good guys have to win in the end. These books sound fun and I think she would like them but we want to make sure they're appropriate for her before we let her read them.
We stick to these guidelines as well! So nearly all the books on this list will be appropriate. My only warning would be the wingfeather saga. It's not overly dark or violent, but there is fighting and characters do get injured and die. But it is done very tastefully and is family friendly. And the good guys definitely win in the end, but there are times where you are not sure if they will. We have read The Wingfeather books with our 8 year old.
@@JoyfulNoiseLiving That's wonderful to hear they're appropriate! My husband and me are very adamant about our rules for what are daughter can read and we dont want her reading any violence, so we wont be introducing her to the Wingfeather saga, but we will definitely check out rest of the books you mentioned and I think she will like them! Thank you very much for your help!♥️
🤣🤣 I’m so sorry! That is definitely not grammatically correct. I never know what comes out of my mouth sometimes 😆😬 Edit that to “quicker” or “more quickly.”
Sorry for the long intro! 😬 Skip to 02:59 for the book suggestions!
Thank you so much because now me and my daughter know what to read!

Adventures with Waffles is funny, but it has some serious parts too. We listened to it on audiobook last year and my husband and kiddos enjoyed it.
Awesome! I’ll have to read it next.

KAYAN KOLLYN:
The great fantasy adventure book series for teens and youngsters 😊
Unmatched imaginary world 😊
Beyond Harry Potter ❤❤❤❤
Okay
Warrior cats!
Yes!! My daughter is reading that series now 😊
What is a tween. Lol
It's 10-12 year olds... They aren't quite a teenager, but they aren't a young child any more. Like a "tweenager" - in between.
You lost me when you said “more quicker” …
