Forcing my cats to watch , to show how grateful they should be
I always wanted to put my cat and in feral community to learn how good she has it. Scared straight version for cars lol
@@mjohnson1741 pshh! my cat doesnt eat no walmart cat mix food , i have to forcely always ordered online this one brand that i once bough for emergency and didnt like, noow thats all he eat and big oh bag of cat mix i haded to donated to the stray cats that visit and he jusy stares at them like through the window like "yeah eat my left overs"
My cat was a stray and he is still as picky as any other lol. Even picker because he was eating food of the other cats in the neighborhood so I imagine he had different food every day
Also very agressive towards other cats it's a bit sad but probably had to fight with them for food whole life.
He absolutely loves me for giving him food though from his own little cute bowl
😹
That little ginger kitten really breaks my heart.
Well, since I actually did grow up in this island (Hydra) I can say that it is indeed the nearest thing to idyllic for cats.
Hydra is one of the few islands where cars are banned, so most cats, even those that are kept as official pets by a family, are left to freely roam and return to the house whenever they need food, shelter or caresses. Combined with the lack of natural predators, it makes them the true kings of the island (there are very few stray dogs and most of them have either a healthy fear of the colonies or, like the dearly departed port mascot Boubis, have befriended them).
Even for the strays, it is not unusual for people to leave out food, be that leftovers or cat food, for the neighborhood cats, and especially those that live around the port or restaurants get exceedingly well-fed, which explains while most cats in Hydra are friendly with people, even if they have not been specifically socialized.
Pet culture in the island, as in most rural areas of Greece, used to until recently more of a symbiotic relationship with animals that merits both parties rather than the much closer bond of urban areas, which meant a much more hands-off approach to the care of cats, especially strays. Since 2007 though, the organization Hydra Ark, in collaboration with the Municipality, has been spraying, vaccinating and more actively monitoring the health of the local stray population.
Thanks for coming to my TeD talk.
I was in Hydra in 2002, it was a very different reality. The cats were sick and filthy. I really hope what you say is true these days.
But stray cats problem is much bigger than just feeding. The biggest problem is over population. Are people spaying/neutering the cats so they don't keep breeding?
Sick cats in cat communities happen by nature. You cannot prevent that. We all who feed stray cats see sick cats all the time. Some sicknesses like leukemia or kalazar can't be cured most of the times.
@@timoooo7320 To my best knowledge yes, Hydra Ark and the municipality do neuter as many cats as they can get their hands on (very easy for a cat to hide outside of the villages, the terrain is way too rough)
I wish I could help all the cats of the world, they are very precious to me. Helping them starts at each community... I hope people will have more kindness and compassion towards them.
Me too . I’m doing my best , I have a connection with cats and my heart can’t handle watching them suffer . I often adopt strays and re-home them ! I have 3 of my own , Rupert , poppy and Millie. I can only do so much but giving your all is the only thing you can do ! Every little bit makes a difference !!
Funny, I really don't get that. There are 600 000 000 cats in the world and more often than not they are an invasive species, a pest themselves threatening biodiversity. I absolutely don't like them, i never feed stray cats and i only give money on vaccation to organizations to castrate them.
Cats in Greece are not treated like those in USA. In villages, people feed them and as a reward for killing rats. In my village in the island of Lesvos, everyone that I know, takes care of stray cats and feed them when possible. Little plates with water can be found everywhere during the hot summer days.
I live in Patra and have the same thing here. Thank you for describing the truth of cats in Greece man.
What do you mean, I'm in the U.S. and I've always fed stray cats here, as many of us do. We are a multi-racial/cultural society where some of us do this and others don't. You apparently know little about the U.S.
@@littlecasino60 And apparently the creator of the video doesn't know the reality of the cats in Greece. Cats are wild animals, as birds and raccoons. That doesn't mean we should collect all of the raccoons and birds and tame them. I know you aren't the one to blaim, I just wanted to say these things
I’m glad that dishes of water are left out for the cats. They’re particularly prone to kidney disease and need lots of fresh water, even in winter. 💦🐈👍😻
Yes it is SAME here in Cyprus . The Cypriots and the tourists give the sweet cats food , water ,they are so sweet and friendly and they look mostly so clean 😍😘
such a beautiful place with lovely cats
Subscribe! More cat content on its way ;)
I hope the ginger kitten and the mother are both getting enough to eat.
Great video with great narration! Kinda wish it was longer :(
Poor ginger kitten :(
I visited a close friend on the isle of Crete many times, and all the stray cats were phenominal! They were all fairly tame, but it was a sad sight to see. My friend told me that tourists often left them behind because they thought they could take care of themselves better by joining a 'cat pride.' Many of the cats were tame because they had once been pets....such a sad thing to see, and because of this...I no longer go to crete (even though I rent out a cottage there; I have it managed by a close friend instead).
The lies. I have joined a few cat pages and the things they do to the animals in crete.... Horrible. Never visiting
I moved to Crete a couple of months ago but have now started thinking of moving somewhere else, just because you would have to make a decision to leave sick kittens to die. Too Many cats. Too bad attitudes
the mother has a good heart
Why didnt you help ginger kitten just filming. They are domestic, they have to take care :(
Yes hooman. We are warriors.
Poor kittys...
Just back from Greece... the amount of cats I came across in a little village was staggering. Including: two dead cats next to a busy road, many pregnant cats (it's springtime! ) , some mums-to-be only kittens themselves, cats with all kinds of wounds, a one-eyed cat. Old battered faces and many young ones. And not a vet in sight . Most cats very friendly towards humans and tourists, who feed them. They are all outdoor cats, all hunters. So not much wildlife in sight either...
20 seconds in "take the ginger in with you" 😂
What happened to the cats? I'm so invested in the drama now, did they survived? Come on...! We need a follow up! 🙀😿
Currently in contact with an organisation called Athens Stray Cats, in hopes of adoption of Greece's many stray cats..
Crows go after kittens
❤️
3:02 mother cat : get away from my kitten
Lol here come all the cat moms 😂
And cat dads
@@IsaacCantwell *cough * and cat dads 🤝
Greece have 10 Million people and 50 Million Cats
Those cats aren't stray. That's literally how they live, they aren't pets. If you try taking one inside your house (especially if it's an apartment) it will likely go mad.
That is not true at all.... We take in many wild cata and they are sweeter because they are so grateful. We have one from Corfu at the moment and he was sweet from day one.
People should help these cats instead of saying things they make up or just assume.
I live in Kalymnos and we have 7 cats who live both in and out of our home. They are the most friendly, affectionate and happy cats now that they are safe, loved and healthy. The cat crisis is a real one, and sadly it's mostly foreigner's who take the initiative to offer them help. We don't have a lot of money, but we do out best. If everyone just did a little bit, then people like us wouldn't have to be struggling financially to care for these poor animals.
That's a stupid comment. You clearly no absolutely nothing about cats
This is anuj ,love from India 🇮🇳
The cats in Greece aren't stray cats, they are true inhabitants of the place. The Aegean cat (the official name) in Greece is an icon.
I live in China. I have two cats and a cat rescue team. In China, cats with coronavirus or FIPV have received effective treatment, including my cat recovered from FIPV.

Through VPN silly :) im in china in vacation lol
Cyprus ?
This is Human big sin they domesticate Cats and Dogs for their safety and now those cats struggling to survive. and in today's human world they don't get enough food to eat.
I BET ALL THE BIRDS ARE GONE WI[PED OUT BY CATS WHO MURDER THEM ALL
Damn I guess they're dead now
İ understand life better through Cat visiualization and disagreement
So you're saying that even the cats are racist " the black cat being lowest on the hierarchy eats last" seriously I can't.
I felt so sorry for those cats. They are malnourished and probably die within the year.I'm sure, though they keep the mouse/rat population under control. But still...
Domestic cats have actually been on Cyprus for thousands of yrs. If they couldn’t handle it they would’ve died out. Strong independent kittys
They are wild animals!!
They can survive. the fact that that mom survived to have kits shows that. the little ginger orphan alaso shows that life can survive :)
The fisherman aren’t caring for the cats. Only prolonging their suffering. Much like we do with the homeless.
wow youre actually like my mom. moth cocoons about to be cooked they were still alive i said NO! my mom said "some moths like to die cooking ends their suffering"
