Thank you for sticking up for Daniel. He said last night on his stream that he is going to step away from protesting because of all the nastiness that has been thrown his way. He's a gentle soul.
Daniel was a trooper and got more out of her than anyone else would have, he walked a fine line to keep her going and I say well done Sir 💪💕
I do feel sorry for Danny. I feel like he is just so young and simply naive. He's trusting and wants to believe people can be honest. He doesn't have the life experience to see through people's deception. He couldn't see how she was playing him!!
I watched Daniel’s whole interview. I was a journalist at one time. He did a great job at diverting her to try to get her to answer his questions. As a young reporter , I think he didn’t do anything wrong. I’m with you. Just anyone talking to her was short of a miracle. Just because we didn’t like what she said should not be a surprise to anybody.
Great job supporting Daniel and calling out the manipulation. I really appreciate that you are bringing the focus on the abuser in the story. That is the real concern.
She also never said she believed the victims. The only thing she acknowledged was Danny was convicted.

I lost all sympathy for her when I found out that she had a issue with another lawyer, and she handled it by going to CPS and making a false report that she in her husband who is in MP were abusing the child. After much investigation it was found out that it were false and she was put up on charges of making a false report. I do believe she went to jail for that. I can not in any fashion condone a person that will do that.
Hey ya, Uk woman here. Only 2% of all stalkers are convicted in the UK. 700k are thought to be stalked at any given time - it’s a terrible statistic. The conviction was fictionalised, however, I do believe ‘Martha’ did the vast majority of what was depicted. She’s such a ‘victim’ that she’s literally doing a nightclub appearance. People can bark on about mental health all they like but I’m not convinced there’s a cure for narcissism.
Her ethics are severely lacking which means that if your her friend, you can do anything to anyone in her restaurant and she'll still support you.

I definitely believe she knew who she would speak to, and who she could gaslight. I think he didn't know what to do, or how to handle it. I felt sorry for him, he was uncomfortable but tried. I also understand how angry Will was at this interview and why. Will is a seasoned pro at dealing with this sh** and you do not speak or negotiate for him period!

The situation with The Baby Reindeer reminds me of the Griselda movie . Sofia Vergara and/or Netflix got sued by Michael Corleone Blanco the son of Gisela Blanco. They did not notify him that they were making a movie on him or his family. Not only that, a lot of the things in the series were false. False timeline etc. Anyway he sued and won $50k. Not much but he won.

If it was my own relative who did what Masterson did in my biz, I would run as far as I could from the scandal not show up in court and definitely go on record by righting a letter for the judge.
What should have happened is they should have stated "Based on a true story". As a viewer it would not have swayed my opinion on the series, we watch shows that are always over dramatise actual events, they should just clarify it.

Re: the La Poubelle interview, Danielle from Salem did an AMAZING job letting that woman pour her narcissism all over the place on camera. I don't know why anyone would criticize him. This guy could get a full confession from a criminal and make the criminal feel like he was making a friend. I was impressed.

We need to eliminate using this quaification word, when no qualifying word is needed!
Sometimes we might need the qualifier word, figuratively.
If an action is not physically possible, then the word, figuratively is used. If an action could be either, real or imagined, then the word literally is used to indicate a real action. The word currently is being used incorrectly for emphasis.
The person wants the listener to believe the speaker is serious, truthful. " I, literally, jumped the fence."

I watched Baby Reindeer as soon as it dropped. I missed all the blurb about it being a true story (somehow!) and so treated it as pure drama. I was still greatly affected, and felt it was a groundbreaking drama about male victim hood. Just like real life I felt Richard as a man felt too ashamed and traumatised to report report the media guy. Martha despite being dangerous was also a pathetic character and I think like is happening now, he and us the audience didn't take her as seriously as if she had been a male perp. I felt it really challenged mine and others views about who a victim is and who we have compassion for.... So it's still posing questions all through this furore!
Then of course I found out the rest! From watching and reading everything and finding at least 4 twitter accounts I can confirm are Fiona plus her very active Facebook (10s of posts a day) I have no doubt the emails and letters are true. So we are only left with the alleged conviction. If it had been defined as 'based on a true story' that would have given Gadd carte blanche to make up his own ending. As it is, I still don't feel there is any issue with not sticking to complete facts.
I'm not sure if I think Fiona should have been platformed. If it was a male perp, would that have been OK? I think not. But somehow a small, obviously mentally unwell and likely isolated Scottish woman and it's OK?
The guy that thought is was a 'documentary'! It was never called that. Nothing dramatised can ever be called that. It worries me that people believe anything they see that says 'true story'. But there never is objective truth, there are always 2 sides. That concerned me. And as for the woman, part of me admired her spunk but she just totally wound everyone up and I think it devalued her point - I'm not even sure I ever heard what it was!

I think this guy did better interviewing than Pier did with Martha. I think as a 🇨🇦 looking in. This interviewer is new and will only get better. They let her talk. The more talking the more we learn. Pier on the other hand? Very condescending and confrontational, he put Martha on the defensive.

So, I've done a bit of a deep dive on the Fiona information. I admit, I really went down a rabbit hole!!She did, in fact stalk a woman who fired her, then went on the stalk her husband.
At the end of each episode (I checked😂😂) it has a disclaimer that says "This program is based on true events: however certain characters, names, incidents, locations and dialogue have been fictionalised for dramatic purposes."
There's a British pod cast done by a well know TV personality who says everyone in the industry KNOWS who the man is!!

I don't know about the first woman. But I have seen Baby reindeer, thought it was rubbish. The actress that played Martha did a good job, the man who played what ever his name was, the main lead, I thought was a boring actor, he made me yawn all the way through. She may have done some of what he claims, but he also led her on and has admitted it. Now we have lawyers looking into it and there is one part of the (so called) true story that netflix is claiming. If the lawyers can prove that it wasn't true, netflix is gonna get sued. There is a QC working on the case, he was talking to Piers Morgan about it.. I think this story has a lot more to be told yet. I didn't enjoy the series, thoought it was junk to be honest. I couldn't stand that woman on Piers show, she was totally rude, appears to be a narcassist herself, with problems. I do like Piers remark to her near the end of the show LOL i heard you say based on a true story, they can have licence to dramatise something but then they have to say they have, they say its a true story, not its based on.....

I remember watching Fargo the TV series .., at the start of each episode it said it was a true story ... and until I was well into it, did I realize that was sarcasm, and I was pissed because you do watch things differently when they state they are true.

Conducting an interview should NOT be determined by how others feel about the subject of the interview.
Should Hitler have been interviewed?
The answer lies in understanding the purpose of interviewing a person.
Little Reindeer, a Netflix documentary: In any documentary, facts matter, and some facts are significant, while others are not. One of those Netflix "fasts," was that Fiona was arrested and convicted for stalking.
If untrue, then it is NOT a documentary, it's just a fictional movie, and should have created fictional characters. But the characters in this movie were presented as real people.
Once it is decided to be presented as a "true story," the actual "duty of care," of the producers, is to be accurate on significant details.
I do not care if all the details are accurate except Fiona's arrest and conviction, that inaccuracy is so significant, I would never watch another Netflix "documentary."
As the viewers, we should all care about the reputation of others.
Imagine a prosecutor, arguing to the judge, "Okay, that evidence I claimed as true, is actually false, but trust me, everything else I alleged is true."
If accuracy of significant details about a person's life don't matter to us, then we are nothing more than gossip mongers, and stimulant junkies.
I agree, whether or not to conduct the interview shouldn't be based on how others feel about the subject.
I disagree on some other points though.
1) it's NOT a documentary! It's not a docu-series! It's on Netflix under comedy/drama. It's. A. Show.
2) it says in the credits that it's BASED on a true story and that certain characters, scenes, etc have been fictionalized for dramatic effect
3) Baby Reindeer creator has stated that real Martha wasn't sent to jail, that part was fictionalized cuz it's a show
4) Netflix and the creator haven't said Fiona is Martha, she is the one claiming that. They've never verified that. It doesn't matter that the actress kinda looks like her cuz the actor that played Darien looked like the guy who was falsely accused of "R"ing the lead actor, so people can look like someone and have it not necessarily be representing that person.
5) Fiona has known about Baby Reindeer for 5+ years (according to her), back when "her character" was played by a barstool and she was fine with it back then. I think she's only coming out now for money and as another way of getting under the skin of her stalkee.

Whether presented under comedy, or mystery or crime is irrelevant. That statement means people and events will be true.

I have responded already on your other points.
Before the movie starts, the statement was printed on screen: "This is a true story."
This means that the viewer should trust that the people and events are true.
Something can be true but not accurate. For instance, it was reported Fiona sent 400 thousand emails. What if, it was only 200 thousand? Or what if over the course of 6 months it was only 20?
The first, 400,000, or 200,000 is evidence of stalking, where as the 20 is not.
My point is that creators of a true story film should care about truth AND accuracy regarding significant events.
If Fiona was never charged or convicted of stalking, but the film presents that she was, this is significant: it is completely false, and not merely inaccurate.
If it is proved true that it never happened, I will never watch any Netflix film presented as, either, a true story, or based on a true story.
Reputations matter.
