- Join us for the start of our epic overland journey.
After all the planning, we head out of Johannesburg, via Khama Rhino Sanctuary, to the stark beauty of the Makgadikgadi Pans and Khubu Island in Botswana. We then spend 4 nights in Nxai Pan National Park, taking in Baines Baobabs, dealing with some flooding, and finally heading into Maun to restock for the next episode in the Okavango Delta.
Unfortunately Corona Virus put a hold on our once in a lifetime Africa trip, but hopefully we can get started when the lock down is over. Hopefully everyone is safely at home! In the meantime I will be uploading 4 episodes of our journey through Botswana. If you missed the Prelude take a look here, it explains our current position a bit better - • COVID stopped us overl...
I'm new to vlogging, so any thoughts or feedback appreciated! :)
EPIC Tim, and so awesome to see a great production by like minded adventurers, that does these magic places justice. Nice edit and awesome grade. Well done and can't wait to see the next one. Shared on Facebook mate 🤟
Thanks for the share man, and for the comments! Been glued to your channel!
Well 1st episode - BIG LIKE (guaranteed for the rest as well).
Firstly because the brave decision to get rid and sell everything to make the dream come true, and second - simply because the quality of the product is really good! Very nice camera work. Appreciated!
Thank you so much, we really do appreciate the feedback and support!
@@LostinAfrica You are welcomed! Have no enough time to watch the recent videos, but one day I will :)
Ahh just found this channel from 4x4ventures FB page. Awesome ! Enjoy the travels and keep it safe.
Thanks Blaine! No traveling currently unfortunately, but still have a load of content from before the lock down to get up!
My word, that's phenomenal. I already subscribed and looking forward to following the adventure. Production quality is as good as any I've ever seen with dedicated crews. Outstanding job all round. To be truly ALIVE!

Mark Cloete thank you! Have up to ep 5 on the drive, and can definitely make a lockdown one, but then we need to ask uncle Cyril to let me back into a national park haha!
Tim Hulme Well, then I hope uncle Cyril allows a little more freedom! Itching to get out...
Absolutely Epic, cannot wait for the next one.

Great Job Tim!!! We love your way of filming. We were also there in january 2018. This year we have to stay at home because of Covid....

Excellent video.... How about a run down on your vehicle and gear?
sudhir ramdharee thanks Sudhir! It’s on my to do list. We’ve been fine tuning the set up, so I wanted to reach a point I am happy with before doing it. Almost there though!
@Lost in Africa would also be very much interested in your setup. Pretty cool footage and very much inspiring
Nice vid! How long did you take from Johannesburg to Nxai Pan?
Very inspiring, thanks for the GPS co-ordinates. Would love to see info on border requirements, park rates etc
Absolute pleasure, I’ll try add them to the next series, soon as we’re allowed across borders again!
Awesome vid Tim! when can we expect the next video? actually amazed by the terrain to the campsites. Keep it up!
Jason Vollenhoven hopefully within the next week, just busy with some actual work deadlines and will get it out! Khwai and Moremi! 😍
Tim Hulme so can’t wait!
Loved your drone shots. which drone model is it?
Thank you! This was the mavic 2 pro!
Great video! Cheers from Maun.
Must meet up when we're next up there!
@@LostinAfrica sounds great! I'll see if I can find you on FB
Tim I stumbled across the roof load limit (dynamic) of my Everest (2017) a few weeks ago as only 100kg, despite my sturdy FR roof rack's 300kg limit. That forced me to have a serious re-look (by big boffins) at my load allocation & packing configuration. Btw, I learned that the new Fortuners only have 80kg dynamic limit. Aren't you nervous with your substantial load? (I can send you info if needed)
As per Front Runner:
Roof rack limited @150kg
Tent 43kg
Table 11kg
Gas 7kg
Awning 14kg
Water 45kg
Fuel 46kg
They also sold and fitted everything for me, so I would hope they would do it responsibly. Although I could accuse them of selling me too much of the wrong things a couple of times!
@@LostinAfrica roof limit should include RR own weight. Was a major eye-opener for me and killed the prospect of a RTT for me. Anyway, things are made worse by bad corrugations and liquids. My total weight is about 170 incl RR & spare wheel and 2x Jerry cans. I will only fill those when doing a long stretch and, empty them out into fuel tank asap. So for most part I'll have 130 on overland trip excl wood - 30kg over roof limit. Won't be driving too fast nor hectic technical routes which compounds shearing force on RR mounts.
Music‘s too loud, voice too weak, especially when talking while driving.
Apologies Peter, we were only just learning at that point! Hope it’s still bearable!
