I just bought the fold 4 for 1099$ on eBay brand new sealed in the box. Wonderful device. I stop buying pixel fold for the chip.
Unless they make the Fold 5 somehow make money for you, you're right about keeping the Fold 4. $1800 is a ton of money for a phone, that's like buying a new XPS 15 every year.

The main thing the Fold 4 needs an improvement on is the battery
Screen protector on my fold 4 has a crack in it. My last fold 3 had the same at about the same amount of time of having it. Not sure if I want to have it replaced or not .
I can tell you honestly, im 35. My first mobile was a morarola cd920, since i was 16 up untill two months sgo i solely used iphone, right from the iphone 2g , but two months ago i finally made the decision to change to the z fold 5, and i swear to christ it was rhe best decision ive ever made , the phone is so solid and auprisedly rugged ,aswell as the two batteries and the new processing chip the way the phone preforms is just unbelievable, likee you wont truly appreciate how amazingly good is truly is , best choice ive made going to the zfold 5
Samsung actually uses this strategy of "unchanged" for 2-3 years and then changes everything.

The Z Flip 4 is a really nice phone. It's been great, however the RAZR+ now has the fully functional front screen and the Flip 5 should well. I'd wait to try it out and see what you think.

I want a foldable but like you said I always wait until the price drops. The fold 5 is interesting not for anything other than the 8 gen 2 and I like the water drop hinge. But if the pixel fold drops to a price I can stomach I would prefer that. Because of the front display.
I'm hoping that one the fold 5 ets here we see a price drop on the Pixel Fold, minus the Pixel Watch. They are using the free Pixel Watch to justify the extra price tag, and I think that actual price needs to be adjusted and drop the watch.
Seems like Fold 5 will be kinda underwhelming, unless they make changes in area's that you can't really put in the spec sheet, like haptics, speakers and durability. Difference between SD 8+ G1 and SD 8 G2 is smaller than with SD 8 G1, so performance and battery difference shouldn't be crazy either like it was with the S series.
Speaking of S series, do you plan on making a long term review or a revisit of S23 (vanilla), if you still have the device? I would like to hear your experience with the phone, battery life, how updates influenced the camera, performance/fluidity...
Do you mean the regular S23 or the Ultra? I ended up selling my S23 after I finished making videos on it. I have my S23 Ultra, and have more videos planned.
The only way I'd upgrade is if the trade in value for the fold 4 was 900 and the starting price for the fold 5 started at 1399-1499. Then I would consider.
I just purchased a Z Fold 4 and the inside screen would not work, so I returned it. When I researched it, I found that it was a common issue with the model and there was no resolution as of yet. So I went ahead and purchased the Fold 5 and it just arrived today. Has anybody else experienced the screen issue with the Fold 4, or am I just that guy? I can't wait to get on this fold! LOL!
A good reason to get the fold 4 is you can find the accessories for a steal.

Hi Guy , question to you, I have a fold3 in good condition but I'm thinking on trading to fold 4 since it's very comparable to fold 5 which I can't afford. Since the fold 4 is being supported for 4 more years and the fold 3 is Fazing out, would it be beneficial to trade now or hold out to fold5, possibly fold 6? (If you understand my question on economics or financial)
Pt.2 Please note, I would hold on to the fold4 very much longer since it would receive 3-4 upgrades
You could totally make fold 5 videos right now and claim you got it early lol. Thats so funny. Also, fold 3 still going strong. Only reason I am considering upgrading is for battery and processing power. Gapless is nice too, I guess 🤷

@@TechOdyssey the deal is from Best Buy through Verizon. I get $600 off the price of the fold 4 if I trade in my S23 ultra. My payments through Verizon will be $22.78 for 36 months which comes out to $820.08 which will be cheaper if I waited for fold 5 which will be more money.

@@TechOdyssey yeah I know but in Germany we have this confusing logic, that If you pick a good contract from 1 of the big 3 (telekom, vodafone, o2) companies, then the more you pay for your contract, the cheaper the phone will be. Now you could think "well of course, because the more expensive the phone gets, the cheaper the contract. But that is not the case. A 50€ contract for 80gb of mobile data volume costs the same in either case, with or without a phone. that means if you do not pick a phone (which is optional) for your contract, then the corr. contract DOES NOT get cheaper, You just dont get a phone.
in my case I have this 50€ contract for 80gb and I had the option "do I want a fold 4 for additional 300€ or just the contract itself with the sim card". well the answer for that was easy
I'm getting the z fold 5. I'm finally due an upgrade and been using the s21+ to make my gaming videos so when the fold 5 is out I'll be uploading all my gameplays from that :) cant wait! :)

I will get a Z fold when they make its shape like the Pixel Fold and have an internal S Pen. It would also be nice to upgrade the cameras to be closer to the quality of the Ultra and upgrade the charging speed.

I MIGHT upgrade since im using a Fold 3 but it depends on the trade in value.
Probably going to be like the S23 deals and have better carrier deals and trade in than Samsung, but maybe Samsung will surprise us.

That could be worth while especially while trade in values would presumably be decent and an upgrade to the SD8+G1 or G2 would be a great upgrade especially for battery life.
You will miss the cameras especially the zoom and the Spen. I go back and forth between a fold 4 and S23 ultra and thats what always gets me back on the S 23 lol (and battery life)

You can find a refurbished, excellent condition Fold 4 for less than $1000, that should be a good enough reason not to get the Fold 5.

Unsure. They seem to be reaching the upper limit of performance on the octacore chips.

Edit I just checked the note 7 was the first Samsung to get the Octa Core chip, the Octa Core 64 bit, 14 nm....that was when the note 7 was catching fire and they had to basically discontinue it....I remember when the note 8 was released , it was completely the opposite and was successful..

I've had every Z flip and this has never happened
I got the fold 3 and the screen protector is peeling near the crease after a year and cant find anywhere to get it fixed was good til than looks bad while watching content

Samsung can put a new one on. Also check UBREAKIFIX - they're an authorized repair shop
@@TechOdysseyyep samsung did my fold 3 screen free and i had the same issue. Fold 4 screen protector is flawless almost a year later though just like yours...they learned lol
So the real question is if you have a fold 2 should you upgrade??
Probably worth it at this point. Especially since the 2 doesn't have stylus support, is coming up on end of support, and the battery life isn't that great.
I used to have a Fold 2 and currently have a Fold 3. I will say yes, it is a compelling upgrade from the Fold 2 to the Fold 5. It doesn't look like it would be a good upgrade from my 3, since it's holding up like a champ! Not too many things changed from the 3 to the 4, and looks like the same this year.
The only physical change you could probably point out is where the flash is on the Fold 5, but who's really paying attention to that? Lol
How about if I have the Fold 2. My Fold 2 is still running strong, I feel like waiting one more year.

It is not the same phone - if you have a fold 4 and have generous exchange program with samsung in your country - do it and make the switch. The hinge is better, battery life is better, the phone is more powerful and the screen is better.
I picked up a Fold 4 with 512 GB for $550 samsung Refurbished on Black Friday.
The difference between the 4 and 5 is very minimal and not worth the cost.

The fold 3 had alot of issues with opening my ex bf had the 3 while i had the 4 and his phone wouldnt open all the way for 1 year it would be shapped like a V instead of opening all the way my 4 never had that issue so idk hopefully the 5 is better then both

Yes. But also, it's precautionary. You can't even buy it yet. But you'll be able to see for yourself in less than two weeks.
I get how hard it probably is to get better than last year's model but they were so bad at the trade-in and the ordering process. The flat s pen with the new case is so awesome I was seriously considering spending the $800 (plus tax) plus the case and s pen but can you believe they don't have any matching colors of the cases to the new colors of the 5! And finding the cases when trying to add everything to the cart was horrendous. The truth is the 5 is an amazing device but they just turned me off to wanna pull the trigger. I was literally gonna spend $1000 but they are giving so little to make someone with the z fold 4 wanna upgrade. SMH. Samsung could have done so much better.

Until they came out with a fold that justifies price i wont go back to it. I love the concept. But they want just add the pen permanently to it. Won’t give it top top notch cameras. Won’t give it top notch batteries. No super fast charging as it should have. If this is your premium phone then it should be treated as such.

Had a fold 3 and now on a fold 4 but they arent getting me on another one until they give us a real front screen and a decent periscope zoom camera. I dont like not upgrading since I do it every year {a few times per year lol) but this time its a no go. Ill see what the one plus open brings or track down a vivo x fold plus maybe

I thought about buying the Google pixel fold until I saw those bezels, having owned the Samsung Galaxy z fold 3 I would definitely be hard pressed to send back a z-fold for and keep the Google pixel fold. Samsung makes way superior foldable devices at this point but the battery life on the Z-Fold 3 was so terrible that I just did not want to deal with it anymore. The s23 ultra is now my everyday user along with the iPhone 14 Pro Max I enjoy both of these devices but the foldable is very nice it just depends on your lifestyle
Honestly the lsta thing I think about is the bezels. Really not that big of a deal and you don't notice them at all when you're using it.

@@TechOdysseyI see it this way: the aspect ratio of the inner screen is perfect, also the axis it folds/unfolds along (you mentioned in the other video the issue with the visibility of the crease on Pixel Fold). Now imagine, they would make the cover screen wider while keeping the same folding/unfolding axis. This would result in a more squarish inner screen without any noticeable difference between the portrait and landscape mode., This would be a huge step backward. The alternative would be to make it at the same time also taller. But then it would be a huge device which I personally would not want.

I disagree a bit. Zf2 to the zf4 was a nice upgrade and definitely worth it. They did widen the front screen with the zf4 and that actually made it much easier to use the front screen. I feel like a zf5 is a good upgrade for anyone who has a zf3, and def a zf2.

get rid of the z fold period! my 4 was great for 8 months. first the front screen went black, then the wifi and bluetooth wont turn on and now the inside screen is totally black. the phone is totally usless, yes it is still under warranty but you must send the phone to samsung and have no phone until they fix it and send it back or send a new one. these phones are an over priced piece of garbage. if you are thinking about getting one, DON'T
