    Awesome video again Adrian!
    I wish I would've known this back when I first started. My alarm killed my battery on a few windy days and I always heard the car battery was too powerful and would fry electronics. I would always push start it, if it had a little juice left, but not enough to crank. But man, that was always hard and really rough!
    Great video again!

      Long story: I switched my BMW to a lithium battery, and the BMW's battery strap was way too long, so I needed a shorter one.
      I remembered the Bonneville has a short battery strap, and I don't have that bike on the road, so I donated the Triumph's battery strap to the BMW.
      But now the Triumph needs a very short battery strap... Enter one of my Kraken's garage wristbands. Saved me $8 from the dealer, thank you sir! 👌

    Can a motorcycle be compression started-pushed in second or third gear to turn over the motor? Or is the compression too high for that?

      @YouMotorcycle  Před 2 lety +2

      Bump starting it? You get pushed and then release the clutch and drop a gear? Yes. But it's easier on older, simpler, carbureted motorcycles, newer ones can be harder, and obviously the more tech and the heavier the motorcycle the more you're going to want friends around to help, friends who might have a car with some cables in the trunk :)

    If you let your motorcycle run for a while would the battery eventually recharge itself?

    • @YouMotorcycle
      @YouMotorcycle  Před 5 měsíci +1

      Motorcycles aren't like cars. They need high rpm, not idle rpm, to really recharge a battery. You could ride it for an hour and try to recharge your battery that way, or for $30 you can get yourself a battery charger so you never have to deal with a dead battery again. Life is expensive. Batteries are expensive. There aren't a lot of things in life that pay for themselves. A good battery charger pays for itself and means not having to buy a battery for almost a decade. I would invest in a good battery charger.

    • @YouMotorcycle
      @YouMotorcycle  Před rokem +1

      If your battery can't keep the bike running, and your charging system is fine, just replace the battery, you'll need to anyway. Alternatively, charge it overnight with a motorcycle charger and see if that's still the case in the morning.

    • @PakistaniMetalhead
      @PakistaniMetalhead Před rokem +1

      @@YouMotorcycle what's the assurance that the charging system is fine?
      On Sunday (Honda 300) stalled when I stopped on a stop sign (due to my error most likely).
      A battery boost worked and I was able to ride it smoothly back home (around 30 minutes ride away). When I got near home, I filled up the gas, and then it wasn't restarting but started it in gear after a running boost start.
      Now however this problem is occurring, I guess next step is to figure out how to install the battery but I'm unsure if the battery itself is the problem or the charging system / alternator.

      @@dylandate yes on bike there is this side shields under the sit. If you pull the right one gently in the corners applying pressure should come off. There, there an eletric plug connected with a 30v fuse. You can't easily remove the fuse but if you loosen the 3 bolts of the region, holding everything on the bike, it will be more manageable and you can remove the fuse. The fuse is inside a white plastic easy to find once you remove the right side. That was it on my bike

    • @YouMotorcycle
      @YouMotorcycle  Před 4 měsíci

      Yes if you're getting no reaction from the motorcycle at all either the battery is completely dead and a charger can't help it, or you have a fuse burnt out and need to check your fuses

      What's the plan with that? Cut the connector end off to expose the wires to clamp to each wire? Leaving two exposed wires, positive and negative side by side, just a hair away from each other? Sounds like asking for a lot more trouble than just doing it properly.
