Taylor Nathan’s sister died really young and it’s about struggling with emotions of that. It’s almost like he isn’t feeling what he expected or thinks he should and is repeating it should’ve been me to make him actually think that. He wants to feel remorse or sadness but he almost can’t

Lauren Haines totally agree, something about the song just draws you in to listen closely to every sound from their instruments and voices and it's so nice how well everything just fits and compliments each other and pieces together as a whole

Hippo Campus is what would happen if nature could sing and play music. Absolutely beautiful and chilling. They ARE artistic and musical geniuses. Landmark was their greatest masterpiece.

Right... my brother has been saying she drowned? What exactly is this song about? I wish I could say it doesn't matter but my brain won't let the lyrics go and I'm struggling to function in other parts of my life as a result 🤦🏽♀️ please explain.
Sibz Mjali Nathan’s sister passed in a car accident when she was 18. Nathan was 14 I think. He wrote monsoon during a studio session and said that he realized it was about his sister afterward. She passed on June 3, 2009. “Just two days after the first of June.”
@@sibzism Well as stated above your comment it was a car accident. You can find the actual news article about it online, I've seen it before. It was posted to their local newspaper. It's been so long I don't know that actual details but I don't believe it was drowning, could be wrong. Monsoon imo would just be the over abundance of tears falling from his face to the fact that he truly believes she should still be alive in his stead saying "It should've been me." Drawing from life experience I would assume that he (Nathan) felt like he was more wild in his youth compared to his sister and if anyone were to die on 'accident' he would have never thought it would be her before him. Such a touching song nonetheless. "Precipitation of heart and head." His heart and mind cannot stop weeping 'precipitation' which would have to be tears such as the rain falls. Just my opinion.

I can not stop listening to this... one of the most well written songs of the year. Everything about it... it is hauntingly good.... it swims in my head all day, fabulous lyrics, vocals on point, the delicate drums, slide guitar, the horn.... I want to crawl inside of this video ;)

As an SPCPA grad it's pretty amazing to see so much talent coming out of the school. And so cool to see this at the Landmark. Their music is absolutely wonderful, I'm excited to hear the whole of their new album!
