Uhh, it's people like you making comments like this that causes people like Jackson to ruin his life doing drugs when it turns out that he's not nearly as good as people like you have made him out to be. OK? He's a great little surfer, alright? But for a dude that has been traveling the world surfing since he could walk, he's frankly not that good. He has bad style, and no lip game. Kid would get dusted in contests against elite talent. He's pretty good but he doesn't look to me like he's got showstopping natural talent. That doesn't matter though because he sounds like a decent young man and a good soul. That's all that matters anyway.

I know nothing about Jackson but I do remember watching his dad and all the momentum videos in the 90s. His surfing was on another level, all of the Hawaiians pretty much own anywhere they paddle out.

Slater's video game is still the best surfing game ever. God I spent countless hours playing that game, great music, movement, the water dynamics were incredible. Wish he would do a second, with today's graphics, oh boy!

Kelly growing up in Florida Barbados was always looked at with the exception of Puerto Rico as the east coast or Atlantic Hawaii. Not Kelly's first nor hopefully last time putting on a show at the bowl.

Soup Bowls is such a good wave. Would travel there BITD when traveling with boards cost $20 each way and the baggage handlers treated boards with respect. Haven't been there in a quarter of a century. I miss it.

Barbados is a mini Hawaii..Kelly said in his book he made a few trips a year when he was young to Puerto Rico and Barbados which helped him overcome the fear and learn to ride reefbreaks, so when he got to the North Shore he was prepared..!
Right. I remember reading that in his book. Barbados and Puerto Rico really can get deep water energy from the North Atlantic. It's not a far flight from fla. Puerto Rico flights used to be real cheap. For fla guys it's nice to have somewhere reasonably close to experience some real open ocean power.
Absolutely..surfers in Florida can catch the great waves of the caribbean just getting a quick flight even if you're just a Saturday-Sunday surfer and score great waves.

Great surfing, really hard carves with big sprays and big airs. All with great style, section anticipation and wave knowledge... Very mature surfing for his young age... Didn't knew him yet... I know a rising surf star when I see it! Then checked the name... Now it makes more sense. It's Shane Dorian's son. I think he surfs better and cleaner than Kelly at his age and that's a big deal! (but can't compare because surfboards were bigger & heavier)... Looks WSL Ready! Objectively , looked that he deserves a few Wildcards!
