Ex-Stig Ben Collins has always yearned for a European hot hatch, and Mike has found him what could be the best car of all time from that category. The Lancia Delta Integrale. Should Ben buy one of these timeless future classics?

Ben is an excellent presenter, very knowledgeable, passionate, and easy to listen to. He really should do a lot more of these. Pick up where the trio left off.

I think he gives what real petrol heads want in his delivery. This Chanel is does it all the time. Top gear definitely has its place but this offers something different - it’s a bit more BBC!

I for one don't mind The Stig waffle on about the technical and history of the car. As 1)it was quite interesting and 2) with Ben's indepth knowledge we are bound to learn something new.
I feel this way so often. Like even for The Grand Tour, Wilman talks about how much work it is to cut it down to 1-1.5 hours, but I can't imagine who wouldn't want them to be longer!
(Especially with only 1 special a year now.) Also: This channel in particular tends to cut off James a lot in a joking way, as if we don't want to lap up every bit of his obscure knowledge.

What's with giving Ben the "James May treatment" of fading him out over 4WD? I wanted to hear him compare this to AWD. This wasn't about nuclear power. C'mon! Would love to see Ben in a later model WRX to continue the topic. I love the look of that car Hammond drove in Africa. Guess those aren't 1500 quid anymore.
Same here! I was really enjoying that too and unlike James... Ben is alot more engaging lol. Though, I suspect the production crew deliberately (edit: to clarify, meant production crew at TG)made Jame's audio appear more montone than normal lol....

I think the budget for tha challenge is about 6000 quid. But yeah, it's not under 10k quid car anymore

80k seems appropriate for such a beautifully maintain Integrale… One of my favorite (performance) cars of all time. I was a teenager and aspiring industrial designer when it came out and was in love at first site. Perfect proportions!
We need a directors cut where we can listen to ben explain the mechanics of the car

The "pixellation" on the thumbnail still made it look unmistakenly like a Delta Integrale.
I would not mind seeing more Delta on here, neither does Stig May.
Although i am not really a fan of its looks and it's way too capable and logical for me to appreciate as a layman.
But it does look like a really well balanced car. Captain Obvious signing out.
Ben is an amazing presenter / car reviewer. I'm glad he finally has the chance to share his opinions without having to wear a mask non stop (although I loved the Stig too! )

I drove professionally for a few years thirty years ago and I do not watch much of this type of television but I was wholly impressed, as I suggest you should be, with how quickly the hedge goes past, and how composed his whole body remains, while he also talks to the camera. I admit I was not sure I would warm to him, but actually I was entirely won over, so he is a total success. Yes they should give Ben much more screen time. And, having recently reassembled and fitted a Torsen 4wd transmission and differential you do want to know how it works and no they should not have faded Ben out on that, I think.

Awesome, I think I recommended one of those in the video where he said he's looking for a hot hatch, hope he finds one on a budget.
I love the way those cars drive, in hard numbers a modern one would be way faster etc. but something like a Delta is far more immersive than a modern GTI.
I'd go as far as saying it's as if you compare real racing with sim racing.

My dream car when I was a kid. Grew up seeing this beast just chewing WRC Constructor Championships.
Between Drivetribe and Praga content, I'm loving seeing more of Ben. Wouldn't mind more long form stuff though as well.
Fantastic. "It's a very naughty car". I had the HF 4WD which was pre Integrale with 56/44 raw front split. A sweet car for the day with sublime steering. Completely reliable and usable, so much so, I racked up a huge mileage in it. And that's the problem with nearly all Integrales; they're so nice to drive, they often have huge mileages on them, Unfortunately, they are now too expensive.
This is just about the perfect hatchback the stig would ever need.
The pixelation of the video thumbnail did a great job. No one would possibly see that it's a red Lancia Delta.
My dad had a delta integrale when I was a kid. We drifted around with me in a backwards child seat. Doing figure eights on a parking lot!

Remember on the TG Lancia tribute film when Hammond said the Intergrale “wasn’t very pretty”…must have been laced with smack that day.
I get this sense that Collins is highly educated & there’s some poet fighting to get out, something in the cadence
This car reminds me of the Mazda GT-R which I had seen in the 90s and loved the look of. Similar specs but being made in Japan it will be more reliable. Amazing car and Stig is very lucky to drive it.
He tuned me out on my diff chat LOL - there will be more of that though, oh yes!! Loved this car
If it is original check the chassis between the doors because it breaks there. It is a family hatchback from 1979 with a 1.3L petrol engine and 10y later they fit it with 220turbo monster and a Torsten 4x4. It won everything, but as a street car it is made to stay in the living room, to show it to guests.
I just bought a 84 Lancia HPE Volumex (supercharged estate) and I love it. It's practical, comfortable, handles nicely and delivers power in a way no modern 2liter can. It may not be quick by todays standard, but it's entertaining to drive and pretty to look at.
You don’t need to blur the car in the thumbnail, it’s a Delta alright. Absolute classic. Saw one for 300.000 euros the other day.
So glad that Ben is becoming a regular here. He's brilliant. Chris Harris and Tiff Needel should also get more time on this channel.
Had one for 6 years. Truly phenomenal car. Loved every drive in it. It DOES have lag, but this is old school and highly addictive.

Had a red one from 93 for 15 years. Great car when its not broke. I had a black alcantara interior. On bumby curvy roads I have never had anything better.. it was a monster
One of the greatest cars ever made. Looks fantastic and was an absolute rocket.
Driven by one of the best drivers ever on TV even though we didn't know it was him most of the time.

Absolute bucket list car for me... just in awe of them every time I see one 🥴
Holy Grale, respect. When buying one, check for the cracks at the bottom of A pillars under the carpet, turbos can be fixed with hybrid Garret 3/4, mapped engine to approx. 280bhp is safe for the gearbox. Clutch is a nightmare to replace, but then again, penny wouldn't drop through the engine bay. Intercooler position can be improved for clean air and tubular exhaust manifold and 3" exhaust is a must.
PS. Just make sure you replace timing belt at 25k miles intervals, as those exhaust sodium filled valves cannot be found anymore, used to be £40 each back in late 90s.
You should probably consider putting some tyres on that thing instead of the thin coats of black paint. It would make the ride a bit more comfortable than sliding down a gravel path.

I bought the cheaper delta hf turbo when I was 15 nearly 30 yrs ago.. what a car that was .. still think of that car to this day .. 🔥🔥

I also had hf turbo in early 90s, finally got evo1 in 2008. Still love them to this day

Always liked the design of this car, and have always been on a lookout for one, never seen one in my country, not even on the road, probably not even one here 😂 so much love in these old cars, way cooler to look at than these boring EV cars buzzing around everyday.
My brother is a serial Integrale owner, so I have had the pleasure of doing s few. Spot on review except for the omission of the profusion of interior rattles which I believe Lancia engineered into the design.
'The Stig' is a genuine legend of modern pop culture. But I can't help but think that Top Gear missed a trick not having Ben Collins as a fellow host of the show?! Great stuff.

A friend had a mint condition yellow one around twenty years ago,he said he'd never sell it but he kept getting offers..someone at a car show wanted it...they asked how much,he gave them a silly high price as a joke......and they accepted.

If they asked him, he, mighta refused given he's more friendly with Clarkson than the other hosts.
He was fired over a book by the bbc. there was probably a lot of bad blood in that he would not have made the list for possible presenters to replace the trio.
