This is testament to how great the 86/87 Turbo Regals are when they are properly maintained.

Great work! My home track as well. Our cars are very similar,,you have a bit more cam, ,i have a 212/212 flat cam, with 1.65 HS rockers,,so 497 lift ,,but i have a bit more turbo, bisons 6266..all else is the same ,,ported irons, intake,,rebuilt 62 T/body. I have a stretch front mount,60Lb injectors, alky TT chip,DW external IL-350.. I can vouch for the MT 275/60/15 "R" DR as a great street tire. The PTC 17 blade NL helped put me firmly in the 10.7 et. @ 127. Same boost at you at 27-28. You have the MPH for tens for sure..as you said..have to get it to 60 better. I recently have experimented with a new tune. I fattened my WB up to a 10.4 and it luvs it. I raced a friend who just ran a 10.72 and a put 2 cars on him.

I’ve often wondered about the addition of fuel. These runs were at 10.6 instead of my normal 10.8. I used to run the Comp 212-212 in a different car and I will tell you this cam is a completely different experience. It sounds better and pulls way harder. This converter is incredible on the street and pulls really efficiently. But I can see it’s not going to cut it for 60ft. Someday I’ll do a 9.5NLU probably the next time I cook the trans. Lol.

@@J-Finelli231 Hey, great vid! Glad to see you 'finally' got to the track. I almost have to bet with a really great launch/60' time and a healthy dose of good air(say, after a nice cold front in October LOL), you'll break into the 10's. I live in South Florida, so I fully understand the 'bad air day' thing pretty well and KNOW how much of a difference it makes with our cars. Oh, don't forget that alky system can throw a bit more 'fuel' with the turn of the knob too. Not exactly apples2apples ideal by any means, but if you just wanted to bump the A/F a bit richer to see if a 'real' adjustment may help, it could be a quick telltale maybe? Just a random thought on the alky idea. You are truly motivating me when I see this vid here, to work on my latest T-Type- An '86, single-owner, 67K original mile car... ALL original everything. Fortunately, I have MOST of the upgrades on hand already so it is just a matter of .... motivation LOL. Thank you for sharing your build

Great video. I can tell you from exp, your 1/8th mph is good for 10.90's - 10.80's. You're leaving 4 tenths on the line in the sixty. With your tires, and getting the brakes to allow launching at 7-9psi, you will definitely run high 10's with the exact same tune. It's running very strong and the spool up is exactly what you need. Imagine launching on 8-9psi and having full boost within the first 5-10ft off the line. That's what your combo will do when you launch it hard. If your converter is too tight and or your brakes won't hold 7-9psi w/o pushing through, you can always use my Jedi trick, aka "the poor mans trans brake." Get some zip ties, form a loop around your e-brake lever, get more zip ties and and extend the homemade pull cord that you can hold with your left hand and easily grab the steering wheel after you pull it on launch. The trick takes some getting used to and many of us have perfected it over the years. After you do your burn out, quickly double bulb, jam the e-brake, shuffle your feet, stomp the brake pedal, stomp the gas and when you see your magic number pop up on the boost gauge, pull your homemade e-brake pull cord and release the brake pedal at the exact same time and hold on. Remember to not let your foot fly off the gas. I also highly recommend making a homemade seat brace to keep from bending or breaking your factory drivers seat and bending your steering wheel. Ask me how I know. ;) It takes practice to get the the timing just right, but when it works, it really works. Just don't do it too many times as repeated e-brake launches with the foot brake can and will eventually bend the back plates on the factory rear drums. I can neither confirm, nor deny having first hand experience bending them back in the day. :) When I took my own GN to BG in 2018, my goal was to run a 10 anything. 1st pass the car ever made down a drag strip I quickly learned my converter was too tight and brakes weren't enough. I suspected it even before making the trip but ran out of time to address the issues. First pass, it ran a miserable 12.13 @ 114 with a 2.03 short time on 25psi. Poor mans trans brake mode engaged. I turned up the boost for the 2nd pass. E-brake launch on 12 psi, 1.57 sixty, 11.07 @ 121 on 28psi. 3rd pass, same tune, same method but I forgot to turn up the boost, still on 28psi and 1/8th mile only qualifier for TAI. 1.54 sixty on same 12psi launch, 7.03 @ 97. 4th and last pass to run a 10 second 1/4 mile pass. This time I made sure I turned the boost up. Launched it at 15psi on the e-brake, really killed the tires with a slightly slower 1.58, but it ran a 10.85 @ 125.72. 34psi crossing the line. My buddy Tommy Harmon took the video of that pass on my channel. I have to run way more boost because of my stock cam, stock rockers and heavier race weight. Yep, I'm a big boy, LOL. Your combo is making a good bit more power with your mods and lower boost numbers than mine. My best Jedi guess with your heads, cam and rockers, at your boost level is easily 50-65 hp more. Try it and turn that boost up to 30. I predict 10.50's at 128 with your combo and launching hard, with sixty's in the low 1.5's to high 1.4's. You're well on your way. Especially if you do all your upgrades and wait for late Sept early Oct turbo weather. For your radiator, the Cold Case radiator and clearancing the upper radiator support so it fits, is the best bang for the buck replacement going. Thanks for sharing your results and OUTFRICKINGSTANDING videos! The Turbo Buick community needs this content, both for now and for the future. I suspect you already know a lot of my rambling's above so keep up the great work Justin! (Patrick Rubio from Precision Turbo & Engine, Username RUQWKNF on turbobuick.com) :)

Thanks so much for the message, Patrick. I believe we may have briefly met for just a second. I was working at a booth at MIR World cup around 2019 and came to the PTE booth for some shirts. We chatted about Turbo Regals for a few minutes. I could be wrong but I think that was you. Anyway, Your analysis is 110% spot on. I know this because I went back last week and did exactly that. I laid into it and got to 8-9psi on the line and boom! 1.59 60 and 10.91 @ 125 first pass. I later that night tried again but spun on the line for a 11.0 at 126. This is with 25 psi and 8-9psi launch. I'm confident I can get more out of the launch by pushing it harder off the line. I was so excited to see 8-9 I just let it rip. I am familiar with the E-brake we used to do that on the street back in the day. The zip tie extension is a great trick!! I think when the weather gets nicer and DA drops, I'll turn it up to 30 and leave over 10psi. I also haven't touched the timing so I think there is plenty left in this car. I'm still on the stock short block though so... this may all lead to new bottom end videos some day lol. PS, I'm Red LS1 on TB.Com. Been there for 20 years

@@J-Finelli231 Excellent update! You probably spoke with either Wes or Bradley. The last time I was at MIR was back in 2010. I just went back to work for PTE back in March. But I know we've conversed over the years on the board. Your combo is really going to fly once the weather gets better and better track prep. Not too mention when you lean on it. I honestly think you have a very low 10 second combo once you get all the kinks worked out. Which would be flying on that turbo. Definitely keep up the great video content. Your attention to detail is exactly what the Turbo Buick community needs.

Man great run with the temperature being as high as it was. My mods are a TE60 turbo, engine was taken down and hot tanked still using stock internals flat tappet cam. Heads are stock but reworked to flow better similar to the turbo trans am heads on the 89 pace car. 3inch down pipe, 2.5 pypes exhaust, new headers, alky, bigger injectors, hotwire fuel pump, cold case radiator, turbotweekchip, scanmaster g. I haven't taken mine to the track yet. Crazy part I sent my car in September 2019 got it back in 2020. I only drive it on weekends so I'm still officially in the break in period on my drive train. My car is mid 11 capable but l haven't tested that yet. Crazy part is your 0 to 60 times are like 3.7, 3.9. Dude most of current high performance vehicles have trouble reaching those numbers and cost less than 100k.
