  • BDR releases trailer for their upcoming North East Backcountry Discovery Route (NEBDR) documentary film. The NEBDR is the tenth route for dual-sport and adventure motorcycle travel, and the second BDR on the East Coast. Free GPS tracks, travel resources, and the waterproof Butler Motorcycle Map will be available on RideBDR.com on February 1. The NEBDR feature-length expedition documentary film will premiere at motorcycle dealerships and theaters around the country, starting February, and will come out on DVD and video-on-demand on March 15, 2020.
This epic 1,400-mile backcountry tour of the Northeast Region up to the Canadian border winds through 7 states and nearly a dozen state forests on dirt and gravel roads, challenging seasonal and Class IV roads, and twisty tarmac. Expect scenic views, endless forest roads under a canopy of trees, rocky expert-only sections and the highest elevations in the Northeast. Every state delivers a unique adventure riding experience unto itself
    Visit www.RideBDR.com for more information.

In the early planning stages to ride this route in the next few years. Being from Maine its super exciting to have a route like this developed for people in the NE. Thanks to all that put in the time and effort to pull this together!

Stinson lake locals are becoming increasingly frustrated with NEBDR. Folksare speeding through our community and overtaking drivers on our small mountain roads. Please just slow down and watch out for our little ones. We all love riding up here. We will always help you if your in need.

I can imagine. Plenty of DB's out there with something to prove. Out west there are signs around houses, lower posted speed limits, to reduce dust, and they pave small sections, quarter miles of macadam, to help too, when you drive through ranch yards. Respect is a beautiful thing.

The Vermont Puppy Dog Trail has the same problem, aggravated by 4x4's trucks and Jeeps speeding on the route. It seems to have become a thing with the pandemic - go drive somewhere you'll never come back to, and drive it as fast as you can.
Locals have actually gone out and removed road signs, to make it harder to stay on route.
But the biggest problem is that the 4x4's are speeding thru blind turns, on the wrong side. They don't care. Used to be horses and bikes and joggers shared that route, but not so much since it got so dangerous.
We will lose our access to these wonderful places, or worse, some kid will get killed, if people don't start acting responsibly again. What happened to being neighborly?

Hey Thomas, has this gotten any better or worse since you posted this comment? Hoping to ride it soon and don’t want to inflame any tensions.

Omg 😳 please be respectful to people who live on the trails. There are so many places on the route to open it up. Mad residents equal no more trail.

Finally! A BDR route right in the backyard of NYC. I gotta get the 1090 out there with a few buddies. I’m tired of watching the videos at home. Thanks for all the hard work that goes into it

Wow, I've ridden a number of Western BDRs (WABDR, IDBDR, UTBDR, COBDR, NMBDR) and while the scenery out West is more "majestic", the NorthEast is unparalleled in it's verdant beauty. This route also looks a bit more challenging than the Western BDR's, with numerous gnarly rocky sections to challenge the big GSA. Don't get me wrong, there are PLENTY of pucker-inducing moments out here, but from this video the NEBDR clearly calls for wet, muddy, rocky skills.
Great work and thanks again for adventure handed to us on a platinum platter!

I just completed the trip last week took 7 days total round trip. We had a blast 3 KLR650 bouncing around the woods. Beware if you have the bigger bikes tho some tough spots especially in mass and Vermont. Once you clear Vermont smooth sailing to the end. Ride safe.

What’s up fellow owner of a Fat Old Pig. Getting my 2007 KLR650 ready for this trip. My family just moved here from San Diego, California. Road on a lot of dirt, and ate a lot of tacos, from San Diego to Cabo San Lucas and back. Was looking for something adventurous over here. Appreciate the tips. I’m not used to the wetness over here on the East Coast. Any recommendations for the best time to go? Less slippery.

Don’t discount yourself… I rode the southern 2/3s of the great divide on a Klr and at the pace you probably should be riding it was great. My XR 650 is more fun, my Crf450rl a blast, the glamour rides (bmw) were just too much, and along with the KTMs, needed a support vehicle and a fedex account. Love your dirt ninja klr

Just put my deposit on a Crf450rl. Thought I was going to have to go really far to find a bdr trail to ride. Thanks for the work to make this available to all of us in the north east. I’m grateful to have found this and am grateful to the people who started it. Is there a place to contribute for the hard work put in here?

Saw the 90 min movie last night at GATEWAY BMW in St. Louis, it was great! There us a little delay for the release of the Butler map with the route, which will release mid summer (one part of the route was through private property, and they are still negotiating with the land owners).
