OMG the year was 1973 and I was living in The Robert Taylor projects in Chicago Illinois getting ready to graduate 8th grade and worshipping at fellowship Baptist Church and Rev Jackson was there All the time and when this came out I was there history was made that Year ❤❤❤❤❤

I would love to see this movie being Available on DVD Someday.
I bought this DVD from a collector 2 months ago, but it was just a trailer, each performance was just half or less then half of the songs being performed, it cost 20 dollars and is being sold as Save The Children Soul Concert 1972. I contacted the collector and told him he sold me a trailer, and he said he would check around, but that's the only one that exist that he sold me, the full movie is not in circulation anymore. Well this one I'm watching now at least got whole performances, even if it's just some of the movie.

It could happened anywhere but IT DIDN’T!! THIS HAPPENED IN THE GREATEST CITY OF ALL TIME CHICAGO AND DON’T Y’ALL FORGET IT and remember when this went down and them filming here in Chicago at the time back in 1972. Plus, PUSH EXPO was a big event here in Chicago back in the early 1970’s to about 1977/1978 held every year at the Amphitheater located around 40’ something on South Hasted Street. There were concert performances every night and exhibits held in the building at AT and food, merchandise, job opportunities available. The event was always a two week thing that took place in the September/October months for years. Sponsored by PUSH - RAINBOW COALITION AND OPERATION BREAD BASKET. By the way, I used to attend the event every years as child and young teens. Chicago represents!!!

My favorite performance was by the Staple Singers.
In the beginning of the documentary the speaker said "All of Expo is on Film." So there is a full documentary somewhere. I will be searching for the full documentary of Jesse Jackson's Operation PUSH Exposition held in 1972 in Chicago and any similar films of made during that time period in Black history. It is March 1, 2024 so Black History Month 2024 has just ended until next year. But, moving forward it is important for me to continue learning about the history of the Civil Rights Movement that took place during my childhood and throughout my lifetime. Now in my old age (70's) I continue to put the pieces of my life together. I would like to intentionally do something that will make a difference for the good. And what better way is there than to share the music of that time period and documentaries like this one to bring about awareness of why Black Lives Matter. ✌🕊🤟☮💟
I remember this like it was yesterday(telling my age)i still have this on wax along with Wattstax 1&2, talk about Black unity this was it...another reason why i believe the 70s was the best era for Black music

24:37 I wonder what instrument was Marshall Thompson, of the Chi-Lites, playing as they began singing "Oh Girl"? I think the studio version of this song used a harmonica - at least, that's what it sounded like - but in this live version, it seems to be something different. It looks too big to be a harmonica. This upload is a golden treasure.

Hello Brothers and Sisters. I'm German and I've loved black music and people since I was a teenager. I saw this film on German television in 1975. I recorded the music on a cassette recorder. I've been looking ever since. Thanks to CZcams I can see at least part of this wonderful film. but where can i find the full version?

So what happened to the rest of the movie? There is so little info about this on the web. I noticed that TCM has a listing for it, maybe they have a print? The soundtrack double lp has The Jackson Five, Roberta Flack, Quincy Jones, Ramsey Lewis, Nancy Wilson, Jerry Butler w/ Brenda Eager and many more stars. The American Masters documentary on Sammy Davis has footage of him giving his famous "I am a black man" speech.

I saw this great film a few years ago at a performing arts center and later came a panel discussion after the showing.The quality of the film looked just like a bootleg.Nelson George,the journalist said that the film needs to be shown again.I agree!I'm hoping for a future release,too and outtakes from the other performers and those who weren't shown in the movie.Take care!

I saw the presentation in Newark Performing Arts Center in Newark,NJ seven years ago.After the film was shown,journalist Nelson George and a few others were talking about the movie and I remember Nelson saying that the film needs to be shown again.I agree!I'm quite sure there's more footage outtakes sitting somewhere in a vault.Fingers crossed!
I would've thought Operation Push and later Rainbow Coalition would still retain the rights to this but I guess not. I saw this is the theatre when it was first released and the audio was first class. I have a copy of the soundtrack also and it's first class and it's 2 discs and there is a lot missing. The recently released concert "Summer of Soul" doesn't hold a candle to the quality of the sound and lineup in "Save The Children". Hopefully someone like Questlove can get the rights to this film and do the right thing.
