Ed Friedland - The Bass Whisperer demonstrates the new Ninomute. Shot on an iPhone SE 2 with two mics into a Centrance Mixerface. #nordstrandaudio #ninomute #davidgagerealist #thomastikspirocores #centrancemixerface
I have one, yes, it's very cool, it really helps me sound and groove better, for all the reasons Ed mentioned. I do the roots stuff out on gigs, nothing more.
Ed, this is a great video and addresses something I'm wrestling with. Bought a hybrid carved top and sides. An awesome sounding bass, but so much gorgeous melodic articulation, it lacks the front end punch, which is important for me as I play mostly only gypsy jazz. The forward punch is a big deal. I just bought the Ninomute based on this video, until it arrives I do have one question for you. Why not put on a set of really good guts to get that gut-like sound?
would this be good for the baby bass? even though the sustain is quite short on the BB already maybe it could tame some of the ping of the higher notes in the register.
It depends on the music. I have a bass set up with gut for thump, and one with steel for sustain... but it's nice to make the sustain go away sometimes. I'm a thumper.
@@BassWhispererTV interesting! Are you still using the KK baby bass? Do you still rate it? I’m thinking of getting one but I can’t afford to buy a lemon. Thanks
Yeah, the Bass Whisperer is back!
Has been a long time! Bass whisperer was my first CZcams channel subscription.
Cool Video! I'm going through your Building Walking Bass lines book at the moment.
Awesome!
I love your demonstrations. Keep up the good work!
Great vid! Good to have you back
Good to see you Ed.
love my Ninomute
Good to see you Ed!!!
Nice to see you Sideshow Jerry! I watched some of our old vids the other day.
Hi Ed! Great to see you are back! Missed your return last year! Subscribed again!
Hey Ed, good to see you're well. That's a nice mute, doesn't kill the sound of the upright.

I heard yours... it really makes those Gallis thump!
Great video Ed! I'm really enjoying my NinoMute. You're right. It's so much better than foam or anything else I've ever tried.
i think that honestly improves the tone and clarity so much, great video. lovely bass as well.
Well, it's more to my preference for roots stuff, but I also think it would help in a boomy room.
Great!
Sounds really good!
Nice brother, nice✌
This is a great solution for folks who don't want to raise their strings to get more thump or to make and eub sound more authentic.
It's always nice to see your videos. Thanks for you books too. Is your bass a cristopher 200?
I think it’s the 203? The Academy model. Not expensive!
Aha! Gonna try this with latin jazz.
When I can got to check this out on my EUB could be great.
Great tone Ed. Guess you're not missing the Juzek. Very cool mute. Gives a little bit of the gut string thing.
Yeah, that Juzek was problematic for me.... 20 years of hating the way it sounded.... I like this plywood way better believe it or not!
@@BassWhispererTV It sounds great! I have a plywood (old Kay) and a carved bass. The plywood is much less of a hassle. Cheers Ed. Love your posts!

How's it working for you? I like it! Great with Spiros.
Master dave here your old student from the UK - sounding and looking great Ed- hope you ok.
Master David! Nice to hear from you. Life is good in spite of it all, hope you're doing well.
@@BassWhispererTV HI Ed- yea doing ok- coming outta lockdown.. Hope you doing ok man

I daresay it would help with feedback in some situations.....anyone?
Mamouns😊😊😊😊
The BEST falafel anywhere, and the most dangerous hot sauce. I got the tshirt at the New Haven location.
Hey can you do a quick video about the action on your upright bass??
Action? It’s not exceptional... not too high, not too low. The key is having the fingerboard well dressed. This one was.
@@BassWhispererTV thanks. I hope you'll be do videos more often. I always enjoyed your content.
Funny. Some guys looking for endless sustain. Others trying to kill it. Musicians!

You seem extra wound up today. Have you been looting?
Must be the sativa.
