Hi Thanks for all your videos. I bought a 2016 QASHQAI TEKNA DCI 1.5 a few weeks ago. Like you the courtesy lights did not work. With the information you provided, I bridged the 2 terminals with a blob of solder, sorted. Cheers Bill😊
I fixed it with tin foil and blu tak and it works exactly the same. Bent a thin piece of tinfoil and stuck it on each terminal with blu tak. No problems so far and quicker than soldering iron
Thank you very much, this worked wonders for me. I got myself a soldering kit from temu for under 10$ and got working and fixed both my lights under 10 min, again thank you.
Hi! I am the owner of Qashai 2015. I'd like to say, Thank You, to you. I had the problem with the switch not working properly. This video has helped me fix light and now works when I open the doors in my cars but yes as you mentioned on the video, the switch will not work, which I'm perfectly fine with that. Cheers buddy!
Good solution. The failure of the part is caused by a tiny ball bearing on the middle of the switch (inside the module) you need to gently pry the switch out). After a few months the spring pushing the bearing out onto the contacts is not strong enough to retain contact. If you replace the spring with a stronger one you can fix the unit as new. If you are going the low tec route - still a good solution, and you don't have a soldering iron, twist some copper speaker wire into the gap between the contacts.
Any suggested places to look for stronger springs? Edit: Took the switch out myself, found the ball bearing and spring. My spring was measuring 3mm OD (outer diameter) and 17mm free length. Bought some springs measuring 3mm OD and 20mm free length online so compression on the ball bearing is now higher
Tried this, but doesn’t seem to work. Does the spring press down on the white carriage part? I can’t get it to clip back in that way. The other way the switch is still intermittent.
Hi Dan a know its been like a 2 year post but I've just purchased the qashqai and used your great video, so many thanks I just soldered across the pins but might if I can replace them .
I have a 2020 Qashqai and want to install a rear dash cam and feed cable through roof lining. I want to install it on the top of the back window, but I'm unsure how to remove trim on the inside of the boot lid. Could you possibly produce a video showing how this comes unclipped, as I'm unable to find any CZcams videos showing this? Thanks Len
Hello. Thank you for your very useful videos . You are helping to many people all around the world . One question: after fix as you explain in this video is still possible to turn the light completely off ?
Hi. Quick question. With this solution will i be able to turn on the light whenever i want, or only when the door is opened? because I need the light when the car is in motion, cause of my children. Thank you.
hi, great thanks to your video. I got my rear interior courtesy light back after followed you video. However, it only light up when I open the car door. The switch button is not working(the clicking sound from button is working perfectly). Any further advices? thank you very much.
Hi , I have followed what you have done and they do work and go off when you lock the car. The problem is when the car is unlocked they stay on all the time. Have o done something wrong?
Hi Dan, do you have any videos on replacing external rear lights? I can do it all except having huge difficulty disconnecting the electrical wires - I just can't find the right place to put pressure on to release them
Hi dan...can you fathom out why i have constant live on one terminal but need the door shut and light to go off? Mine either stays on or not at all ? The other side is fine thanks
Nice fix, can’t believe that they try and charge that much for them a complete rip off! Look to be worth about 40 pence🤣. With soldering it’s all about being quick and re tinning the joints. Always use multicore solder, never acid based flux! Pre tin the new copper wire before starting to solder to the terminals having given them a drop of new solder. It looks from the terminals you could just bridge them without fitting a loop as they are next to each other which would be neater. Sorry I’ve been in electronics, TV then computer services all my life, so I’m a bit ocd about it😉. Nice offer to do other people’s, good on you, expect Nissan UK have loads for you to fix 🤣🤣.
Hi, I'm having a problem with the passenger side light in the back. The light only works if I press down on the switch, as in put pressure on it. I replaced the bulb and checked if anything was loose. Do you have any fixes for this? Thanks in advance!
Yes I have a permanent fix that makes it work only with door open or on unlock. Check my other videos. Or you can send me the lights and I can do it for you
Hi Dan, thanks for yet another excellent video. Speaking as someone who breaks everything he touches, could you possibly repair my light? i have one working and one not and it drives my ocd mad...
Do you really need to take the unit apart and remove the switch. Can't you just add a short wire across the two terminals without taking anything apart?
I couldn't see a way. It looks like the heat from the bulbs causes them to deform and stop making the correct contact. I guess you could look into finding a similar switch but I don't think that would be too simple!
The problem I have with mine is not the switch but the light can be intermittent if it works, it comes on and after a while it starts to flicker and gradually dims
Hi Dan, I’ve had my 19 plate Qashqui for almost 2 years and finally, they are now working! Thank you!
Legend, this fix worked a treat for my wifes Qashqai, it only took me 8yrs of having non-working lights to get around to fixing them. 😂

Just done this yesterday as mine were not working and now they are working :), luckilyi had a solder iron in the garage. thankyou Qashqai Guy.
I just use some foil and some tape and it works just fine
Hopefully it doesn’t cause me any problems
But thanks for helping me sort out this problem
Yesss it worked!! Thank you. I used solder without wires. Just connected the two pins. Ow.. and i didn't open up the part at all.
Yeah I think opening it up was overkill, but nice one
Dan very kindly sorted mine out too, can't thank him enough, top man!
Great fix, my right hand light wouldn't light and now done this hack to both lights and works great when doors open, top man!

Day 2 of Qashqai ownership for me and i found this fixed one of the rear interior lights! Like you say it feels like the switch is quite badly made.

Good simple fix, Dan.
Works like a charm! Thanks!
Gr8 thank you I have same issue with the rear passenger light on my QQ I looked online to get one but to expensive thank you
I’m gonna try replacing the spring first of all, see if this helps. 3mm by 20mm is what you need.

Awesome, tried it and it works like a charm. ✌️
Many thanks. Took longer to take the light out that to solder the wire. both sides done in less than 20 min. They have been bugging me for ages.
Glad it helped
❤ really good tutorial thank-you
Thank you for the fix! Did it to my QQ 2015. ❤
Hello. Thank you for your very useful videos . You are helping to many people all around the world . One question: after fix as you explain in this video is still possible to turn the light completely off ?
So this fix makes the light come on with unlock and door open. After that it turns off. There's no way to stop it coming on unless you desolder it.
@@TheQashqaiGuy Got it .Thank you .
Rubbish Indian made switch!!! Thank you for the help...

I did the same .I just soldered the 2 elements without the wire

Hello sir thank you for the great tips. I have a question ! Is there any chance to have both lights mean with the doors and manual as well ?
You need to wire in a new switch
@@TheQashqaiGuy Thanks for the reply. Also could you please tell us about that new switch. Thank you so much for your help
So it would need to be a 3 stage switch that you wire each terminal to the existing ones.

It is a festoon bulb, see my other video for info and a product link
Hi do you no the part no for the rear head rest for 2014 j11 1.5 diesel asenta please
Maybe worth a Google search?
The problem I have with mine is not the switch but the light can be intermittent if it works, it comes on and after a while it starts to flicker and gradually dims
Hmmm, deffo not the switch? It could cause the flicker, mine was doing that before it finally died.
I've have a 69 plate Tekna and have the same problem, but I believe the problem caused by too much condensation inside the vehicle,
The only bit I might need help on is the heat
Yeah, maybe worth finding someone with a soldering iron? If you're still at school maybe a technology teacher could help?
I've done this to both the rear lights but still no light any ideas?
Have you checked the fuse?
Tnx 👍
What type of bulb is it
31mm festoon bulb
