    I had the same issue on the wire on that side... man it was short... i had to struggle with a screwdriver for a long time... a real nightmare.

    Left to go to work today and saw one bulb was gone on my number plate. One quick view of this video and I managed to do them both myself! The shorter right hand one was a right pain in the bum to do and I have tiny tiny fingers😆But they’re all done and I was right chuffed I did them myself- I’m a cack handed woman and still managed 😂 Thank you!

    Done this for mine today, looks great! You weren’t joking about the number plate lights being a bit fiddly - mine was short too on the right hand side, I just about managed without any tools.

    Hope you don't mind me including this here Dan, not wanting to step on your toes at all or use your platform, just to let others know about the rear interior lights.
    I have a 2016 reg J11 and just completed removing all the yellow looking interior lights and number plate lights with LED's (bulbs as listed by Dan for this video). The back seat overhead lights are working so I changed the festoon bulbs too. Removing the rear interior lights- I took the drivers side one out first and made it much harder than it needs to be, so I'll go to the passenger side rear light. After taking the light fitting out (it came out quite easy), leaving the cable fitting attached, I unscrewed the tiny screw (seen from underneath the fitting) holding the clear plastic in, and next to that is a little plastic tab connected to the clear plastic.
    Pushing on this makes a space around that edge of the light fitting to get a small screwdriver in. Moving the screwdriver along toward one of the four pieces of clear plastic holding it to the light fitting, I gently lifted the plastic until it came off. I was careful as I recalled Dan said they can break easily. You can now take the old festoon bulb out and put in the LED one, making sure the yellow part of the bulb will face outward for when the fitting is replaced. I tested the light fitting before replacing any of it and it worked so I put the clear plastic cover back on, refit the screw and pushed the light fitting back in. Again I tested it and these LED's are so much better.
    Big thanks to Dan for letting us know how to do these things, you're a gentleman. I also had the same problem changing the bulb on the right side number plate light as you did, but it is doable as I am crap at doing these sorts of things. My tip, make sure you have all the nescessary implements before you begin. I wasted 5 minutes trying to find my needle nosed pliers for that awkward bulb fitting.

    My goodness how fragile car's are to-day. I changed the tail lamp on my pulsar after a struggle to get the plastic lens off without braking it. A few months later I changed the other side, but now it was winter therefor the plastic lens was now brittle and bingo! It broke, bugger. I am getting I am to scared to tackle what should be the simplest of jobs on my car.

    I don’t know if they changed the light cover in the 2015 model, but mine doesn’t fit back on properly with the LEDs installed, need the slightly shorter, 4 LEDs.

    In addition... Those vanity mirror LED bulbs you told me about, I got four of them (in a tiny pack) and they do fit. One problem, the one I tried to fit blew the fuse (when it went in) for all the interior lights, and the dash cam, not sure if anything else went with them. I have had a go at removing the glovebox but for some reason it does not want to come out. I have been in touch with the supplier of the LED's and they said turn the ignition off... and have the light off... yeah, okay, not sure how that can happen with this car.
    I don't know if you have any suggestions Dan as how to get around this problem. DOH!

    • @TheQashqaiGuy
      @TheQashqaiGuy  Před 3 lety

      Ah yeah. I'd always recommend disconnecting the battery if you're working on live electrics.
      Removing the glove box is a case of opening it, then pulling towards the seat while pushing the back of the tray part inwards to clear the peg on each side. I show this in the dashcam hardwire kit video.

      @@TheQashqaiGuy Hi Dan, I tried removing the glovebox as you do in your video. However, my arms have got more puny with age and I can't seem to do the job with the glovebox. Must say I'm not keen disconnecting the battery either. Seems this is not a job for me to take on so will see about the garage doing it instead. Thanks for the input.

    Completely different question here. Any idea how to fix the back window washer? Getting no spray so I'm assuming there's a loose connection somewhere. Cheers

    • @TheQashqaiGuy
      @TheQashqaiGuy  Před 3 lety

      Try using the washer for a good 20-30secs then look for a puddle somewhere, that'll give you an idea of where the leak is.
      Can you hear your pump working when you use it?

      @@TheQashqaiGuy hi Dan. Had a look at that problem and it seems to be a leak in the pipe just at the entrance to the boot. When I switch it on for a bit the panel just above the right rear seat/seat belt spool is soaked. Looks like the panels need removed to get to the leak. No idea if this is a big job or not. Motor working fine obviously too. Any suggestions other than take it to the mechanic! Cheers

    • @TheQashqaiGuy
      @TheQashqaiGuy  Před 3 lety +1

      @@QUADFLY So if you'e happy to dig around and remove the panels then i'd have a look, it's probably going to be either a leak in the piping itself or a connection loose - either way easily repairable with the right tape.
