Yea, Rui also had that last chance at the end but by that point it was too late. They played great against LigaMx teams and definitely had a chance to win this.
And the 2v1 where we didn't convert. Tough one!

Seattle is like our best tournament team in MLS. They're consistently able to produce really good outcomes. They should be pumped for making the final and playing so well. Congrats to Leon.

That’s the way this tournament will be played even with the new format for 2023, it’s designed for MLS teams to win and for liga Mx to make a lot of money.
Bruh, wtf was Shane O'Neill thinking. Even if he didn't actually clip the Leon player (which he did) he was going to dive for a free penalty and this ref was going to give it to them no matter what. Bad decision on his part. Very unfortunate.
He can make that slide with some space between to only block the shot and not involve the striker, he did that way too close against a player who knows exactly how to take advantage of that mistake. Poor decision, and makes me question the coaching a bit too. So frustratrating...
Truly enjoyed this game.
Sounders played much much better in the first half but León bounced back and had a great second half.
Ruidaz is an absolute monster!
Mena possibly better but they are both headaches for the opposing defense.
Liga MX obviously a better league but MLS always has two or three clubs that can compete with best that LigaMX has to offer.
Confident that a LigaMX team can win the Copa Libertadores and teams like the Sounders, LAFC 2020 and Toronto 2019 can compete.

For instance, Seattle would not come into a match held at Estadio Azteca with the same mindset as one held in the banc of california stadium, in the former everything would seem foreign to them & with fewer supporters while the other team would find it comforting to play in a field they've already stepped on before

Given how sensitive the ref was, how did Arreaga's legs getting swept end up in a no-call? Didn't O'Neal do the same thing when we saw a PK? My mind is beyond blown. Shoulda been 2-2 at 90. Sure, Sounders could have played better but I think it's safe to say the ref totally threw this game.
The mistake was arreaga kicked the ball too far from his body, mena touched the ball first and went for the ball in the different angle there was barely a touch on his leg. The sweep oneal did was a big no no in the penalty box and you can tell he sweeped him from the back. Sounders def had the game won but they missed like 2 extra goals before Leon started making a comeback. Sad really, sounders barely made mistakes first half but as they fatigued, they became sloppy. more changes from the coach will fix that.

There was 4 Liga MX teams and 4 MLS teams in this tournament. It was 1 Liga MX team vs 1 MLS team for each of the quarter final matches to start. The Sounders were the only MLS team to make semi finals.

Seattle is proven to be one of the most consistent and most successful team in the Americas but unfortunately due to poor mistakes in the backpost which was unfortunate and again with missing several chances in the game, Seattle couldn't win their first international trophy. PS What the heck was O Neil thinking?!! Also, I love my Seattle Sounders forever and ever! Shout out to them beating Tigres and Santos! Mexico in this year alone haven't won a lot in favor against the US. but in this case I guess we can give them a little break.... for now!

@@alejandroorozco4317 they won the Mens Hunt in 2010, won 4 U.S. Open Cups and 2 MLS Cup who just recently beat Toronto Fc from Canada last year. But they are a very consistent team who were in the Champions League 5 times since 2009 so that is very very impressive for just s team that is barely 12 years old. They will win a international trophy eventually. Given the players that they have and the amount of revenue that they get, especially now with several NFL players endorsing the team.

The US has spent millions if not billions investing in the league, bringing stars from Europe and some young south american talent & they still cannot beat liga mx teams, even if their lives were on the line. Another thing to note here, all of the matches in this tournament were played on US soil in front of your crowds. Seattle almost beat a team that had to travel from another country, but I wonder if they could stand a chance had they been the one's traveling abroad & playing in an unfamiliar setting.
