I really disliked the movie Cruel Intentions until I watched the behind the scenes and everyone was saying how funny the script was. I highly disagreed but rewatched it using their lens. I love it now. The way you described Pestilence seems like it might be using the same lens of dark/gallows humour and makes me a little more interested in reading the series.
yeah that makes a lot of sense!! i think you have to suspend your disbelief a little bit, i’m defo gonna try the rest of the series to see how i feel
Hey Ellen! Great page count for 14 hours! I recently finished Once Upon a Broken Heart and at the beginning I was like I don't think this is for me but once I got into it I just loved it. I have the next one in the series so will definitely be reading it soon. Wildfire sounds like fun so I may have to add that to my tbr. Loved the Pep interlude! 🥰🐸

I totally agree with you on Pestilence. I really wanted to like it, but it just fell short for me. Sometimes the main male character gave me 'cave man' vibes.😊 I will continue the series because sometimes the first book falls flat, but then they get better?...here's hoping
YES!!!! caveman is such a good way to explain it hahaha. he felt very childish to me, really wasn’t a fan. i’m really hoping the rest of the series gets better as i own them all🫠 that’ll teach me to stop buying entire series at once lmao

i try and pick books i know will be quick and easy reads!! defo don’t reach for long fantasies or anything. sometimes rereading an old favourite also helps!
