In regards to the old school booktube books, I remember them all haha. I'm 33 so I was on board with all the ya dystopian books post Hunger Games. Loved a lot of them then but not sure if they stand the test of time. It's fun to look back now.

Love the long reading vlog! Omg that trip down memory lane 😱 Anna and the French Kiss was one of my absolute favorites. I was OBSESSED. Almost want to reread it but I dont think i'm going to like it as much 😂 And the Selection I was also obsessed with. Think I read that series like 5 times 😍
i considered rereading some old faves but i just know they won’t hit the same🫣😭
I use Beats but the studio ones which do cover your entire ear instead of just sitting on top of them. So worth it! The battery life is long, the noise cancellation is great and they’re comfy. I use mine at the gym all the time

@@bookswithellen yes!! I originally had the same ones you had but also didn’t like that didn’t have noise cancellation or fully cover my ear. I was also able to get mine on sale for around $150-175 USD a few years ago but I’ve seen sales on them since so definitely keep an eye out for any sales they may have either through the actual website or a retailer like target!

~17:50 yup I remember all these books. It's crazy to look back on some of them lol I remember finishing Snow Like Ashes but only making it halfway through the 2nd book and never finishing it. I don't remember caring for it all that much. But I loved An Ember in the Ashes, tog, The Selection, etc.

Another OG BookTube watcher here. I remember that TOG cover AND the OG cover of Shatter Me - it was hideous. Do you remember how popular TFIOS was? Or John Green in general? Then there was Daughter of Smoke & Bone, Ruby Red, Divergent, Vampire Academy. Idk, if we scrolled back far enough in polandbananasbooks, Katystastic, or JesseTheReader's channel history, we could probably remember them alllll.

I have the sony WH-1000XM4 (headphones) and the WF-1000XM5 (in ears) and had the XM4 inears. Absolute love them. A house is being constructed next to my apartment and honestly the noise cancelling is so good that I can work from home without issues. And they are so comfy that I forget I wear them :) highly recommend them.

The skullcandy crusher evo are really good! Especially for the gym or just music/audio in general, great noise isolation. They also have some strong bass that you can adjust!

I was not on booktube in 2014-15 but it’s still awesome that it was most of these books in 2017-18 bc I came across it in the library. I did not know a lot of the books getting popular now like red rising were from back then tho?? Also I use Soundcore Q20 for noise cancelling headphones and they're really good and quite inexpensive. I'm not a headphones expert so I'm not really sure if they're top quality lol but I love them.

babe these 2014 reads!! the way i was obsessed with Anna and the French Kiss is not even funny 😭 i also loved The Selection back in the day but reread it last year and simply despised it, which is why i don't dare touch Shatter Me, it was life-altering for me back then (and i recognize the OG Throne of Glass cover, but thank god it got a make-over)

I have the Sony mx4’s and use them for the gym they are really good and the noise cancelling is so good. They also have ambiance settings so it takes in ur space and adapts the noise cancellation depending on that if that makes sense. So recommend them for sure

It’s funny because/c we’re about the same age, and I wasn’t on booktube until ~2021, but I read at least half of the OG books you mentioned when I was in middle/high school, lol

i highly recommend the sony xm4 headphones! so comfy and i love the connectivity and i love the tan colour. (watching this video with them on right now lol) the battery life lasts forever and theyre great

I have the Sony XM 4’s and they are great. I work in a shop that sells some of the higher quality headphones and audiophiles who work in that area swear by them. I believe that the XM 5’s are marginally better but they don’t fold so that could be a deal breaker. The noise cancellation whilst obviously not total is a godsend on public transport. The only thing I can suggest is find a shop near you that you can try various headphones out, but for me, my vote, in case you hadn’t guest is the Skullcandy… ok it’s the XM 4’s

I have the Sony mx4 noise cancelling headphones and they’re honestly one of the best purchases I have ever made. The sound quality is amazing and the noise cancelling capabilities are insane. The battery life is great and they’re so good for commuting. They come with airplane headphone jack adapters and so theyre perfect for long distance travel. I’ve flown to Australia twice with them (24 hour journey) and they’re so comfy and the battery didn’t die on them once. I sound like i’m getting paid lol but honestly they’re the best investment I have ever made you should defo get them :) also collided sounds fab! do you reckon I could read it without having read the first book in the series? :)
