“Airtime” isn’t a category that parks look for when they are looking to market something. They’re looking for something flashy, that can be easily marketed.
I would go to Adventureland as a kid and in high school a few times, and I loved the dragon. I loved the bumpiness, it added to the thrill. It also helped the vibes of it being a dragon.
Adventureland updated their teaser today to show the teaser image rotating. That is making me think of rotating seats. I'd love if this was an S&S Axis prototype, but I also think that could mean a free spin.

This is incredibly surprising. For some reason I never would've expected a park like Adventureland to get rid of one of their coasters anytime soon. But they obviously have something big planned in that space for the future. They wouldn't have taken it down now without a replacement in mind. I've never been to this park and I live just a little over 4 hours from there. Maybe I should take a weekend down there as soon as this pandemic is over.

Ive been riding this coaster all my life and I found that the only really rough part of the ride was the turn before the lift hill and the rest was pretty smooth. I also have some really good memory’s of this ride and some day I will miss it. But I do find dragon slayer to be a superior ride.
I got off Dragon thinking "Well, I didn't hate it." It probably would have been better with lap bars, but overall I won't really miss it. That being said, I loved Adventureland, and I'm excited that these recent new additions are garnering attention to the park.
Heres some cool news about Adventureland listen up people there getting 9 new rides for 2022 but removing 3 old classics as well. most are flat rides for kids and one for all ages but still a great improvement. Heres whats being torn down, Lady luck, the falling star and that golden plane ride. Heres the 9 new rides. first 8 are kids rides 1. speedway racers( will be indoors) 2. leap frogs 3. the clipper 4. The lighthouse 5. Bernies swing. 6. Circus balloons 7. the revolution 8. the war hawks and 9 rockin rainbow( a taller swing ride that rotates and can tilt). So Adventureland added a S&S 4d free spin coaster called Dragon Slayer and it’s awesome although they could definitely add another coaster in the future where the rest of dragon was
I loved Dragon. The most recent time I've been there was 2016. My friends and I came at the end of the season a couple days before closing and it was pretty dead. The operator let us stay on for like 10 rides in a row and we all loved it. I'm 5'7, one friend is 5'3, and the other is 5'10 and none of us had a problem with it. As I said tho, this was also in 2016 so it is very possible that the ride got a lot rougher since we were there. Either way I'm gonna miss it 😣
New channel up called, Iowa Theme Park Enthusiasts. Nothing much yet from these guys except one notable podcast they did with Adventureland's CEO Mike Krantz. One question they asked was would monster always be the biggest baddest coaster in this park forever and mike said "no". Go check out there podcast to here more.

They wasted no time tearing that thing to the ground. I wonder if something unexpected became available like Dorney's Possessed that we know is leaving.
Canobie Coaster on the plus side, it’s a very unique and fun ride, and its small footprint allows for another ride to be added in the area later. Great addition to the park. On the minus side, my brother in law described the track to me (there were pieces stored not far from the Tornado) and I was sure it was going to be a Raptor, until I saw the track myself. Bummer. 🙁
Heres the reason The Dragon got removed, It's a terrible coaster and really not really that interesting, Also it tried to give you a damn concussion every time you rode on it. The Outlaw and Tornado are rough but they dont lock your head in with the overhead restraints.
@@CanobieCoaster part of me thinks that since you mentioned that your head was up a bit higher and wasnt right in between the restraints helped you. plus if they tried to add more than just some helixes and maybe went through a longer ride then it would have maybe been worth trying to keep running. afaik they havent developed the main area the dragon took up and only took over a small portion of the space with Dragon Slayer so there could be more area to work with. Also if things go the way they might be going, the whole river rapids will get demolished and then you have a good amount of space to work with in that area too.

I actually liked the coaster, I would be the only one in my group that wanted to ride it, I loved the loops:)

As somebody who has ridden Desert Storm and Dragon, I’d have to say Desert Storm is a much better ride.
Agreed! Desert Storm has crazier forces and no threat of headbanging.

Just noticed this thing had one less car than when I rode it a few years ago. It had a 6 car train when I rode it.

I loved the dragon, it was my first looping roller coaster I've ridden, and I really liked the first helix too

I rode it last year and had no issue either!
I’m really disappointed it’s gone. I never got a ride it but I wish I was able to.
It was a fun ride.
I kind of think a freespin isnt a good fit but a good addition for this small park.
It's marketable and the wild side seems to flip a ton.
