Ppl just have bad taste. This game is was awesome. The worlds are super cool. I remember getting super excited getting out of schools early on Wednesdays and Fridays to play this. Game. As a kid it seemed harder. But the worlds and music made be wished I was there. The game is so much fun.
I remember pulling this off after realizing that there was no skull print on the grass inside the portal but outside of the portal there was always a skull print. I just did it so much as a kid, I accidentally did the glitch.
I used to go to the portal area for the island level and swim out of bounds then “swim” into Riptos portal, had no idea there was an even quicker way that’s crazy
It sucks this game was so rushed, it was originally planned to be the biggest Spyro game ever but due to crunch they cut so much, some of the levels are just works of art like Theives Den and whatever the ice one was.
This was the only video game that ever gave me the nausea/dizziness side effects from playing for too long that are warned about in the instruction booklet.
Found this out by myself as a kid. Was screwing around with my cousin and said you can get an extra life if you head bash every tile. Best gaslight of my career lol.
Fun story i always hesitate to tell. Before torvul found this skip, when i was just a wee little lad the same year this game came out, i by complete accident found this skip. I didnt know wtf happened but i played normally, beat the game, started a new game and out of boredom just started headbashing. And by pure happenstance i went directly through the final boss portal. Had no idea how or why and thought i messed the game up because i "cheated" (i was like. 4 or 5) so i just deleted the save and never touched it again. Just gave me an excuse to replay spyro 2
Obviously i dont tell this story to be like "i figured that out before torvul look at me" for two reasons. #1. Absolutely pointless. That would be stupid #2. I was 4. I didnt figure it out i fucked up and it worked in my favor
I liked this game so much as a child that I’ve been dreaming of playing it again for more years and completing 100% for the first time, but damn, this game on ps2 it worked so slowly that I had no desire to play it, and then I finally had the opportunity to download the emulator and calmly go through it to the end, I just completed it completely yesterday
From what I heard, Universal rushed the developers of this game to meet a Christmas deadline. Gee, I wonder where I've heard that before? Cough! ET! Cough!

You can’t beat the game like this tgough. You can’t beat the final boss until you have all the gems and/or dragonfly’s you get kicked out of the final boss early
man this game disappointed me soooo much, i even returned to the ps1 versions and replayed them as they were muuuch better balanced it was like spyro was running in slow motionn and every action was delayed and uuufff this game was a mess😂 and jesus the loading screentimes were terrible...

Well, this is technically the first boss fight. You don't get any ending and instead you just get the gem finder ability and get kicked back to Dragon Realms. To actually beat the game you have to 100% it to fight Final Ripto (the giant monster form) and get the ending, so Spyro 4 any% speedruns are just a lie. Lol.
