I would never ever say Chris is a "country" artist. He is so much more than that one genre. He fits more into blues, R&B, but country allows more mainstream coverage and airplay
He is a true force to be reckoned with, a generational artist

@TheOtherSideofSquirrel believe it or not, but Chris doesn’t care for them either. Every time they interview him after, they ask if he’s going to the parties & he says that no he’s going back to hotel with the family & going to bed. Totally opposite from the crowd! They take the kids & said it’s like a mini vacation!
Chris listened to a lot of the same things you did (imcluding Rap). You can hear all those influences in his music. The masterful way he combines all of that with that magnificent instrument he was blessed with just... Well let's just say playing Chris for your country installment is like cheating.

That was a superb song with an outstanding performance and arrangement. I'd call it blues, soul, R&B. Not country to my ears. When I was a kid, our next door neighbour played Jim Reeves, and Slim Whitman. I think of Kenny Rogers, Dolly Parton. So that's what I think of for Country. However, I'm a Brit, so what do I know?
