Here is a story when the CLA first came out and I wanted to buy it. First I have the c230 kompressor of way back. When I went back to upgrade to the newer CLA, believe it or not there at a Mercedes dealership, one of the sellers told me outright not to buy the CLA. I asked him why and he said that car is a complete nonsense. Well not really exactly so 😋 but an ENTRY LEVEL CAR to be exact. As in no power just like any other car on the street with a big giant Mercedes logo and grill. He said the car was designed completely to attract young folks into the Mercedes family. To enjoy Mercedes , not even the C whatever nowadays, instead from E class. Story short I winded up buying an E class. I Love my E class and still have my old c230 kompressor. Mercedes Benz still the best car maker out there for me. Elegance, quality and made to last.
Go figure, every world leaders have Mercedes on their fleet of cars and usually there go to, there number one on world stage. Much love from California 👍

The Cla was not built for Nigerian roads or weather. One of its main purpose, was for college kids in America to be able to afford it.
The front wheel base drive, is due to winter weather. During snowfall, you need acceleration & grip.

I have a CLA250 Edition one and its definatly NOT built for driving in Winter. The suspension is to hard and not made for driving on snow. Its very unstable and "interesting" to drive. But in summer with good tires the suspension is insane - its like glued to the road.

Mercedes usually recommend service every 4 years or 40,000 miles but depending on transmission type, the age of the vehicle, how much you drive, and a few more factors can change. Also, the first Mercedes FWD is not the CLA. lol.

This isn't the first charged 4 engine Mercedes has made; as a matter lf fact, they have been doing it for decades and pretty much know what they're doing.
Plus, putting 'additives', especially indiscriminately in gas actually worsens things up. It doesn't help.
Found the rest of the review practical and your passion, infectious 👍

    • @AkaahanTerungwa
      @AkaahanTerungwa Před 2 lety

@@234drive, many actually. For a relatively recent example before the CLA debuted, the '02 CLK 200 (W208 or 9 - can't remember which offhand now) came with a charged engine.
Remember the C Klasses that came up from the assembly lines circa 1995 with red valve covers? Those are ALL NOT naturally aspirated: they were and remain charged.
However, the very first attempt was in 1921 when DMG (as the company was known then) presented the first supercharged passenger vehicle at the Berlin Motor Show, the very first auto company to do so.
So, as you can clearly see, Mercedes is no learner in this forced induction game...in fact, it is a godfather, having introduced the game to passenger vehicles decades ago, or rather, just over a century ago!

According to most Mercedes car manuals, you’re not supposed to even fill up that tank with non premium fuel. You only use non premium fuel to get to a gas station that has premium fuel. Same with E class and most of the other recent Mercedes cars.

I don't think it is overpriced. That a brand new sold for 18million 8years ago and now a tokunbo sells for 12million is expected. Have we forgotten that the naira traded at 165 naira to a dollar 8 years ago and today trades for about 600 naira to a dollar? Since these cars are all imported, it is no surprise that the price would be influenced by that.

Simple fact , the car wasn't made for African market. When u buy from Europe and America and u ship to Africa, that's the problems u will face, especially with fuel availabilities. The ones made for African market has a different fuel injector system and few things that can take regular petrol or diesel fuel .
Now doing oil change u need full synthetic oil , preferably mobile one brand, not authentic oil , it's synthetic oil, and it's very expensive.
Any vehicle that uses premium oils( synthetic) has to use premium fuel .
Last but not least , too much dust can shorten your car's lifespan .
