Time Is Ripe For An Ayurveda Resurgence By Dr Rama Jayasundar

Dr Rama Jayasundar is currently a Professor and Head of the Department of NMR and MRI Facility, All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, India. She is a physicist with a PhD in NMR from Cambridge University, UK. She is also a professionally qualified medical doctor in Ayurveda. She has vast expertise in experimental and clinical Magnetic Resonance Imaging, i.e. MRI & MR Spectroscopy; her expertise also includes indigenous development of low cost MR coil; RF pulse sequence programming. Her MR research interests span wide applications in neuroscience. Her current research interests are: NMR metabolomics of medicinal plants used in Ayurveda and their chemosensory signatures; using MR to assess ayurvedic therapeutic response in stroke; MR applications in Ayurveda and yoga; Scientific validation of Ayurvedic treatments; Scientific explanations for Ayurveda.
In this conversation, Dr Rama says any integration of Ayurveda with modern medicine has to be well thought out and it is better to be cautious as the two are very different system.
