In today's video, I install an all-new audio system in the 240SX. As I worked through finishing the Interior Restoration Part 2 video, it was the perfect time to ditch old wires and worn out speakers for something that packed a greater punch. While the interior was taken out, I ran new wires front to rear, converted the old 4X6" speakers to 6.5" speakers, added a modern head unit and installed a powered subwoofer in the trunk. I wish everyone could hear it in person as the difference is incredible! DISCLAIMER: I am not a professional. This was my first time installing a system like this. I learned a lot and am super happy with the results! Enjoy the video!

ChrisFix Thanks man! It's been so great!! 🤙🏻
This is the first time I've ever seen a 240 being treated like a JCCS classic car level restoration! Awesome job Kyle! This is easily the most interesting and in depth 240 restoration I've ever seen on CZcams!
Upload more videos of this project!
As you can see he also did the interior and the brakes, that means 2 videos that should be out soon.
I’ve always wanted to see a video of someone installing a Kicker Under the seat Subwoofer, Nice video
Thanks for showing everyone that 240s can actually have a nice interior!
Nice ChrisFix transition! Looking good kyle, nice work on the audio. That Sony unit is great on features.
I would love to take a ride in this car. Just to hear the interior.
I don't watch he's reviews that much but I like watching his restoration project's and his vlogs.
same
Wow great video. Can't wait to see the rest of the series and you got some great tools to help with the work.
GOOD JOB I am proud that you installed this with your own hands and i am excited to see more episode.
It looks so good, can't wait for it to be finished!
Saabkyle you are my favorite youtuber. You do the best car reviews. I love your videos.
Always excited to see you post a video, Kyle! Been a fan for a very long time. It's great to see you doing projects like this!
@Saabkyle04 Fantastic video as always...
That sound system is very amazing! The installation may be complicated, but it's fun and worth the effort!
Omaris Bhumiriady Thank you!
Saabkyle04 Anytime, buddy!
I highly appreciate your gratitude.
That 240SX would be so cool once it's completed!
Wow, amazing interior! Can't wait to see the end result !!!
I love your videos my friend! Great work, congrats on the 1Million subscribers!!
humble mechanic? u mean chris fix? looking forward for that video.
Humble Mechanic is someone else. He has a CZcams channel.
I like Chris fix better , tbh
I love audio system builds. Can't wait till I get to do one on my own ride
I was just looking at that exact same Sony head unit for my 05’ Sequoia. It seems to be the lowest priced with Apple Car Play and Android Auto plus I really like that it has a volume knob and not volume buttons!
Nice installation. I always installed the power amplifier under the driver's seat, that's because I use the rear seat for passengers (I have an '89 Geo Metro) and they get into the car using the right door. Nice job Kyle (a little complicated) but Nice job
An actually informative video on what is needed to install bigger speakers on 240
My grandpas 350z has bose and it sounds really good with a lot of bass
Its amazing the dedication you put into your 24osx. I had one way back in the late 90s. I just bought a 89 240sx bone stock. its a project car. Im going to invest on leaving the car flawless.
I love it! I know you say you're not a professional but watching you doing actual work, installations, repairs, etc. is really fun to watch. Great work, that audio system is going to sound awesome!
CrazyIvan1337 Thanks buddy!
Dang Kyle, that’s an awesome project that’s coming together very well. Thanks for sharing man.
Feels like I just watched a sound system install from Steve Meade. Great work!
U made this my happy place man! Love your videos u cut no corners!
Great work and attention to details, hope the result sounds great
Excellent work. Looking forward to more progress on this S13 restoration.
That’s a great looking 240 can’t wait to see the end result
if you want it clean you should get r32/r33 seats
Coming along quite nicely.
Kyle, amazing job mate, you are one of the very very few people who does things the right way. Thank you for not putting tacky/ricey crap in the car and not mangling the car in some douche-igan way. I love every mod so far, keep up the great work! Love all your vids.
A true project car
The red handle wire cutting tool is intended to crimp the solderless connectors as apposed to your off set channel lock plier. It has specific shaped notches for a proper crimp.
James Jones Yeah, I used it after the fact to make sure everything was snug 👍🏻👍🏻
I've tried that exact sony xav-ax100 at my local Walmart. Practically the only touch screen unit they had that I liked. More simple to use too :)
Well done! Looking forward to seeing the next video!
So so so happy you got this gem
Great video Kyle
Great video, keep ones like these coming!
So clean! Great job
adding a subwoofer is one of the best upgrades for a car
Can you spare any information on how you kept your speakers from hitting the window inside the door and also cleared the speaker cover in the door panel? I'm currently trying to do this to my 240 using the plastic speaker adapters on ebay for 240's and having issues with clearances.
for the front speakers, when you did the new wiring, where did you connect it to? the amp behind the seat?
Going into my dentist office, sitting on the seat anxiously waiting for a root canal. I called the dental assistant to ask where Dr. Kyle is at only to be answer, he's doing a CZcams video about his project car...sign...more anesthesia please!!!
You and chrisfix are awesome! Keep up the totally awesome work!
Where did you get the new carpet from and can I get one for a s14?
Nice Job Kyle !!
Nice job Kyle! Just subscribed after watching all your 240sx videos!
That was a nice install!!!
That's gonna be some *CLEAN* 240SX
Hey sorry I'm late but do you by chance know what the model of that head unit and speakers is?
This is a very exciting project your car is going to be awesome when it's done
Wow Kyle this looks so good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You really did go all out on this car. Pray for me and my S14a restoration
May you kindly inform which Sony model head unit you used in this install video, I agree with your choice and would like to add the same to my 240sx Thank you!
Kyle love your 240 I'm doing a rb25 swap as well haha I was wondering were did you buy your 6.5 speaker adapters for the rear?
Looks good mate👍
Damn, you did your research! Nice work.
Put a back up camera in the car and a 360 dash cam and stuff! Also I've been seeing a lot of 240s being restored on youtube glad the car is getting some love and respect and not just parted out....and messed up from ricers going through cars and parts or failed projects!
Is it only the speakers that are wired to the amp and the subwoofer is wired to the head unit separately?
Awesome tutorial Kyle!
Voted best 240 on youtube. I would daily tf outta this car!
waiting for your next video bro!!!!
Where did you you get that rear adapter?
Good job man looks great!!!
Absolutely gorgeous I love your 240sx one of my dream cars I recently just got a g35 and I'm looking for ideas to change the appearance of it and keep the classic look your awesome keep doing videos can't wait to see wat else is in store for your 240sx
Hell yea new AUDIO SYSTEM!!!!
Great job man
Fun fact the stock car speaker wire was most likely pure copper that's why it was so small. The "upgrade" wire is aluminum coated in copper.
With the rear speaker size upgrade are the stock covers still able to fit? Or is it just exposed speaker?
I bought the same head unit for that exact reason
New sub for sure quality is good clear audio great tips keep it up man
Awesome video dude!!! 👍👌
Nice work! I'm excited to see the interior video since I'll be doing new carpet in my 97 eclipse gsx. Do you have a part number for the head unit you went with?
i love this kinda of video
I'm ready for the new video
I do not know what to say. Great work!
If you could I would like a more complete explanation of each component used and why it is needed I'm about to install a sound system in my 240 as well or provide links for all parts used if you could
if you ever decide the double din is too much and tired of the amp behind your seat there is a great sony unit with built in amp just like the kicker sub.
I run this setup in my mk3 supra. The 1 din deck powers my upgraded speakers and the kicker sub has its built in amp. just an idea for space saving.
no link to the products you used?
good job mate
YOUR VIDS ARE ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!!!!!
great video can i have the link of the speakers and brakets
you loom like a professional
Just curious if you are doing anything else with the 240sx?
GREAT JOB !!! SO DAMN GOOD
How's your radio reception? My 240's reception is pretty mediocre, have you done to your antenna?
So for the speakers in the rear you gotta connect that to the amplifier in the back and that to what?
good job
This car is gonna be bad ass
That’s the exact stereo I’m looking to put in my 2011 Jeep Patriot! Is it still holding up well?
Are those new e-brake cables I see? If so, where did you get them from, I am looking for some too.
Great work, but if you say the back seats is not useful why you dont take out and make the bagage bigger?
I swear if he sells it a year from now haha
If i am not mistaken but one Single din stereo is better to give out better sound then one dubbledin becuse of the limit of something that i have forgot atm.
what your screw driver you use that??
Kyle! May I please have the link to the adapters!!!
The OG carpet is so much better, can’t beat the tweed
You deserve so more views and subscribers!
