My high school statsđ:- âą How I got into Uw Madi...
Hey Guys this is an Indian realistic college decision video 2021. I applied to 9 colleges as an international student and recorded myself. Cringe! The colleges are Uw madison, Purdue, Uiuc, Case western, Ut Austin, UGA, Cornell, Georgia Tech, and Northeastern. I think itâs harder for non- American students. My daughter got into Cornell and UW Madison and chose Madison (and some smaller colleges and conservatories) She didnât like Ithica, it was too far away from everything. She loved the Madison Campus with the lakes and the cool shops and cafes everywhere, plus close to nature. Cornell in Ithica is literally nothing except hiking and 3 coffee shops in town. We visited and she said âI would be so bored here, even though I thought it was my dream schoolâ She loves going to school at Madison. It wasnât on her original list but she got invited to tour from the music school so she decided to add it on at the end, applied on the last possible day- it just felt like the better fit. I tried talking her into Cornell at first but she was so excited about Madison. In the end itâs her choice and I think a great one!! Be proud, itâs considered a public Ivy and itâs a very good school. Madison is still out of state so I miss my daughter, but I can drive there in 1 day a couple times a year to visit since we live in the USA - at least is a very cool city with so much to do. She is a music performance major at Mead Witter which is very hard to get into. I now think she is very lucky to go to Madison. Probably less stressful than an Ivy and much more fun, in the end, an equally good education. Do you like it? Madison had over 57,000 applicants last year and 60,000 this year. Itâs not easy to get in. Online it says 50% acceptance but itâs more like 20% acceptance
Yup I love madison!!!@
Like is she moron?
Congrats from a fellow Telugu, Wisconsin is a fantastic school! I grew up in the states and attended a Big10 school, really can't go wrong with any of them. Good luck!
Congratulations man!!! I'm an 11th-grade student and I'll be applying next year.
It is such a relief to see someone speaking Telugu in a college reaction for the first time.đ

UW Madison is insanely good. Congrats
I am also an international student and just started to consider about universities in abroad. Purdue really got my attention. Can you inform me about the applying process (like how did you get accepted/what is the most important point for you) and also I would be so happy if you have any university suggestions to study aircraft engineering
I think my common app essay was good. I made a video on it recently. Just look at the top aeronautical engineering colleges on us news or niche and check them out

As a Class of 2021 UW-Madison graduate, youâre such an asset to the Badger community!!! Sorry you didnât get into some of the schools you loved, but I hope you love UW-Madison and will soon call Wisconsin home.â€ïžđŠĄ For computer engineering (noticed in the comments thatâs your intended major) weâre tough to beat, and Madison was just rated the best up and coming tech city in the US. Youâre in a great spot!!!
Thanks alot. I have really been enjoying college already. Can't wait to see what's ahead
Fact check wisconsin is not a tech hub like the top 5
dude i just loved how u dealt with all that with a smile and humor
That "VACHINDE" hit me hard bro! congo

Lol how come you only applied to reach or match schools and no safeties? It would have been so risky if you didnât get into Madison rite? But Congrats Madison is really good for cs!
I was going to stay in India if I didn't get accepted anywhere else. Thanksđ

What's your opinion on university of Wisconsin Milwaukee?
I don't know much about it
Lifelong Wisconsinite and recent UW-Madison graduate here to weigh in.
UWM is an excellent school and Milwaukee is one of the best cities in the US, in my opinion. Itâs full of great culture, arts, architecture, food, and sports and itâs very affordable compared to Madison. Madison is a beautiful city but honestly, now that Iâm graduated I want out, because the constant feeling of being in a sticky fraternity basement on a football game day (no matter where you are in the city or what day or time it is), gets a bit old, especially being that Iâm not a sports person. Milwaukee doesnât feel like solely a college town / upcoming Silicon Valley knockoff. And as a poor rural Wisconsinite, I donât love how crazy expensive Madison is or how it caters to coasties (our term for rich kids from the Bay Area and NYC who drive up the cost of living and take up lots of our very limited parking with their Range Rovers). Milwaukee feels more comfortable to people like me, I donât feel like Iâm merely tolerated there, whereas Madison often makes me feel like Iâm the intruder, despite actually being from an hour away. UWM itself is also more affordable and bigger than UW-Madison. If youâre a first-generation college student or low-income, itâll be more welcoming. UW-Madison awarded me unparalleled financial aid but I didnât know where to find my financial aid package, and I didnât even know I was first-gen for over a year because Iâd never heard the word before. I am one of very few people in my friend group and majors thatâs paying for college myself and works out of necessity rather than for spending money. UWM is full of brilliant hardworking first-gen, low-income students.
I was admitted as a music major and can personally vouch for UWMâs fantastic arts programs. However, it isnât ranked as high for its research or academics as Madison. If you want to be a researcher, academic, or go on to graduate school or professional programs, UW-Madison will give you the tools (and the name) to help you achieve your goals. Not that you canât apply to PhD programs if you do your undergrad at UWM, you absolutely can if you put in the work. But the vast majority of our faculty here are rockstars in their fields and working with them is an asset to future applications. Although I was admitted as a music student I was injured my freshman year and changed majors without a problem. I triple majored in Classics, Philosophy , and English with a creative writing emphasis. There arenât many schools where you can triple major in three years, in addition to holding multiple positions in my departments and clubs, conducting research as a McNair scholar, and volunteering. UW is full of overachievers so youâre always surrounded by smart people who are passionate about their work.
UWM has a far higher acceptance rate than UW-Madison. UW-Madison is considered selective with about a 48% acceptance rate, while UWM frequently has about an 80% acceptance rate.
My largest class was a biology lecture my freshman year and it had about 400 people. But the discussion sections were about 10 people. Other than that, nearly all of my classes have been under 30 students and most were in the 10-20 range. However, I took a lot of ancient languages and was the only person in my Biblical Hebrew and Aramaic class for two years and my Ancient Greek classes had 4 of us. Although itâs a large research university, itâs not impersonal. Neither is UWM, they also take great care to combine the benefits of research universities and small liberal arts schools. But I wouldnât say theyâre quite as successful at creating intimacy. UWM is a bigger school in a far bigger city so students do have to work a little bit harder to make close connections. If you thrive in any social environment youâd do very well at UWM. Youâd also do well at UW-Madison if youâre an extrovert but Iâm about as introverted as they come and havenât had any issues here. Introverts may get overwhelmed in Milwaukee.
Both schools are vibrant academic, professional, and social communities and Iâd highly recommend either. But itâs entirely dependent on what you want in a college.
