- finally made this 5 months after all results came out, but here is my college decisions & IB (international baccalaureate) results reaction video!
literally took me hours to edit and i didn't want to make the vid too long but other notes i wanted to add:
• i literally dk how people are applying to 20+ schools 14 was so stressful and only 7 of them were in the US... def start ur essays as early as possible (i did not do this)
• even though northwestern was my fifth choice, i really really love it here. the name of the college does not matter as much as the community you'll find and experience you'll have (US is def super different from the UK or HK) so i really recommend applying to colleges based on more than just name brand, make sure you'd actually enjoy the people, the weather etc!
• as an international student from hong kong, i didn't have many classmates also applying to the US and i relied A LOT on reddit and youtube to figure out how to write my common app and supplementary essays.
• for clarification just bc i hate my LSE reaction i didn’t realise it was a reach school (~5% acceptance rate for psychology) until way after i applied bc i saw the 38 IB points needed and thought that made it a target.

omg thank u haha for math i find it easy to just forget how to do everything/anything so i practiced constantly even during the summer pre-IB. i also used revision village as a resource and split the cost with three friends bc it really is super useful esp the videos showing you how they worked out the problem :) good luck u can do it!!

I took a degree in psychology from the LSE and later taught it to undergrads there for a year. I’m in no doubt you would have excelled had you been admitted.

Ady, let me give you a life advice.
Try to get into nursing in the school you chose in the end. If not, I highly recommend you transfer to a local college/university that offers nursing and attend from your parents' home. Don't waste money on rent trying to go to a school away from your parents' house. Finish nursing, start working from home, save, and invest.
You will be far better off than 90% of the graduates in all those schools you got rejected from.

hey! for bio memorisation is such a key part that i mostly did a lot of past paper long answer questions and drew all the necessary diagrams to revise. i focused on understanding each unit as well as possible (i know the syllabus has now changed but i struggled a lot with unit 8 metabolism so i prioritised studying that). for english, it's really important to keep on track with timing - in the real exam i ran out of time to read over my Paper 1 which made me really worried. i'd def recommend practicing paper 1 in timed conditions, and also watching a few IB English Guys videos!

Could you share tips for chemistry HL?
hi!! i struggled the most w chem HL but i got through by grinding past papers, textbook questions and chem study guide questions. i also found it helpful to draw mind maps especially for organic chemistry where i showed the different reactions to make different organic compounds, and covered the key parts of the mind maps to make mini worksheets for myself if that makes sense haha
