I have to say it and it might sound lame, but you should not bring yourself to live the same way as her because you want her looks. She has an eating discorder : fasting, binge eating and then vomiting to keep an ideal weight is called Bulimia Nervosa ; and is usually treated. I don't think this is the best video subject ever, because her disorder is presented as a lifestyle, thus is praised. Please don't get me wrong, I am just giving my opinion, but I don't want to criticize this woman as a person though, she seems really kind, and is beautiful. I don't want to assume, but she definitely described bulimia as an eating disorder for her lifestyle. Intermittent fasting is great, good for your body even, but eating 1 meal per day is not healthy for anyone at any size (unless you are a bariatric patient undergoing treatment, and it is prescribed by your doctor temporarily). My mother (who is not overweight/obese) is obsessed with eating under a certain amount of calories a day, and I know how unhealthy it is for her. A lot of people recovering from eating disorders struggle with not counting calories, and it can make them backslide into old habits. Interesting video but please be aware that images like this are akin to eating disorders, and do not accept them as healthy lifestyles.

As a person who’s currently recovering from anorexia and bulimia.. a lot of people actually aren’t aware of what they’re doing to themselves. A lot of people with eating disorders, SPECIFICALLY anorexia or bulimia, tend to have body dysmorphia, so even when there’s literally no fat left on our bodies, we still see ourselves as ‘fat’.. and we don’t normally believe that till our bodies are about to give out. We never, ever believe we’re ill even if we have multiple different people telling us otherwise. I had to literally be on my death bed and had to be told I only had a few days to live if I didn’t start eating to realise the damage I was doing to myself.. and even then it was still hard because I still saw myself as fat. It’s different for everyone but this girl here, she definitely does know that it’s wrong, of course, but she’s carrying it on because it’s keeping her skinny which is the only thing people with anorexia and bulimia focus on. When I first started I didn’t really care that I was starving myself and malnourishing.. the only thing that I cared and was satisfied about was the numbers going down everyday on the scale. I hope she finds help.

Eating to look skinny is not the mindset that will help you. First and foremost, being able to do things you want with high energy and a healthy gut is important. After you establish better habits of eating, your body will naturally respond over time. We place too much effort on looking good instead of feeling good. And you can feel good and be healthy at the same time. Most people have an ED are not aware they have one. She seems to acknowledge that ED’s exist, but can’t see it for herself.

I've seen many people who suffer from disorders like this but don't realise it thinking that it's their will and so it's nothing wrong, but it's not right. Her body will be in a very serious condition when she'll be in her fifties as her body will be weak and unable to handle much stress. This is a very serious topic and making a video like this was not a good idea. I'm kinda disappointed with how the team of giggle let it be filmed. This can seriously encourage girls to think that this kind of lifestyle that she described is ok when it is not. I understand that being skinny is a big thing and an ideal standard in korea but using an international platform to normalise serious health issues is not acceptable at all. I think what we actually saw here instead of "Koreans meets slender girl for the first time", was how the dieting culture is a big problem in Korea, since their beauty standars are way too high, many young people, specially girls must be like "the skinnier the better". I hope she knows there's no need to go thru one meal per day to be pretty, no one should go thru such a extreme diets to feel pretty. Otherwise the PD's for this segment have either been intentionally or unintentionally irresponsible in producing an episode that could be seen to be endorsing these unhealthy eating habits, when they should be strongly discouraged as well providing referrals to the appropriate support services for eating disorders.

I'm so happy to see Bom where she belongs! 😄 She is such a sweetheart, she always tries to make guests feel comfortable. And her interaction with this young woman is adorable. 😍
But, the subject matter of this video is disturbing. Not saying anything negative about this young woman, she seems very sweet and she's beautiful. But she obviously has eating disorders. When she describes how she only eats one meal a day and is hungry most of the time. That's anorexia. And then she talks about how she sometimes binges enough food for 3 meals in one setting, then purges. That's bulimia. And this is dangerous.
A young woman that I was close to years ago had similar issues. She was a beautiful and extraordinary young woman. Unfortunately, she suffered from eating disorders. And no matter how many times I and many other people told her how beautiful she was, she just couldn't see it. She saw herself as fat. She was both anorexic and bulimic. She would starve herself, would eat practically nothing. She would eat laxatives like they were candy, so that she would go to the bathroom almost immediately after eating anything. When she would binge eat, because she was starving, she would make herself throw up. After years of her doing that, her teeth started decaying. Because the stomach acid in her vomit had eaten away the enamel on her teeth. And at one point, her health had gotten so bad, that her organs were on the verge of shutting down. Her body was consuming itself, because it wasn't getting enough nourishment to function. She had to be hospitalized. With a feeding tube ran into her nose. And after all that, she still struggled. She just wouldn't listen and she just wouldn't eat. After a while, I realized that I couldn't help her and I couldn't just watch her waste away. So I had to walk away. Fortunately, I heard that she survived her disorders. But she still struggles to this day.
I understand that there are people who are just skinny. And that's ok. We need to stop body shaming people. Just stop! Because you don't know what that person is going through. There is supposed to be people of every shape and size. That's one of the great things about our world. We need to celebrate our differences. And stop looking down on someone because you may think they are too skinny or too fat or too tall or too short.
I wish this young woman well, and I wish her good health.

In truth she really doesn't look that "skinny" to me, compared to Bom she has a heavier bone structure akin to an athletic build.. It's sad that she feels she has to starve herself to maintain the look she wants because in the long run the possible damage she could doing to her health should be more important. A lot of people are saying she has a eating disorder when the truth is that's merely a symptom of a bigger self image problem.

However i have to say i am very dissapointed with this video. It seems like it emphasizes idealizing being skinny, encouraging unhealthy eating habits and glorifying behaviour that is harmful to your health. I know it is a big toppic in Korea but especially for that reason i think there should be more awareness towards a positive body immage, away from the presssure to be as skinny as possible. I hope Giggle production team could reflect on this and also on the negative consequences this video could have on people who are already suffering from pressure on their body immage.

I started counting calories to gain weight and realized I was basically living like I was anorexic. I realized I barely ate anything, not because I wanted to be skinny but just depression. I look way healthier now that I weigh 125 lbs and feel a lot better. Hopefully she realized health is more important than vanity.

Some standards are toxic bcs only for being skinny you have to endure so much and put yourself in such dangerous diets is not good at all just for the sake of being skinny. The human body and the human mental health needs a lot of nutrients to can work properly,at the moment you don’t realize is dangerous but when you encounter stressful situations or even sad moments you’re affected even more if you don’t have a proper diet based on the needed nutrients which leads to mental disorders and even more issues.

  • @AishiBhattacharyaOfficial

I think the fact is that in Korea so much of stress is put upon looking beautiful, by the society. Most of the times we are talking about feeling and being beautiful. In some society its like being underweight skinny is considered beauty while in some society being obese is also considered beauty. Either of them are glorified at times, blaming it upon body positivity and not being judgemental…..Although its not feasible for most of us to maintain the ideal BMI range as our weight will definitely keep fluctuating depending upon our food habits, environment, stress and associated medical conditions, what’s important to realise that it’s not about just being or feeling beautiful. What’s most important is that we must stay healthy. For being healthy having an optimum BMI is one of the parameters. But even if you are a bit under or overweight as long as your eating and living habits are healthy you’ll be healthy, active and fully enjoy your life.
It’s very important that we love ourselves the way we are, irrespective of our body weight or body features. But practically speaking, I personally think it’s okay not to feel flawless or beautiful at all times, but taking care of our health is a must. After all beauty and society’s opinion about me is not my priority in life. Even if I dont feel I’m the prettiest it would be okay and I’d be still happy , as long as I know I’m living a healthy lifestyle.
People and their opinions will come and go, but our health is a gift given to us, which we must aim to preserve as a precious gift with utmost care. Without being healthy, no matter how much people praise you for your looks or you feel happy at your reflection in the mirror, deep down you’ll know that something is not quite right and that you’re unhappy…. So everyone, please look after your health, no matter what.

Looks can be deceiving. It’s the unhealthy relationship with food, and basing happiness on a body image of “thinner is better, I need to starve myself and be hungry in order to achieve this” that is the problem. Health problems will happen down the road if she continues this pattern. Your body will start to break down if it isn’t getting enough fuel.

At first you will gain a little weight but it will go back down quickly (usually). However, there is no excuse for anyone to make hurtful comments to her.
