- In this ad from 1996, Debi Austin discusses her struggle to quit smoking even after having her larynx removed due to a tobacco-related cancer diagnosis. The making of the ad prompted her to quit smoking and tell her story to thousands of children and adults around California. Sadly, Debi passed away in February 2013 after courageously battling multiple tobacco-related cancers for over 20 years.
I can't believe that Debi is 46 in this ad. She looks 70.
Cigarettes age people terribly.
@@Beatles0223 I know. I am never ever going to smoke a cigarette. Not only does smoking tobacco mess us your physical and mental health, it is also really bad for the environment and what is even worse is that unpaid chlid laborers often harvest the tobacco.

I'll never forget it use to cry I never understood from that time until now why there are no updates for people I never smoked and i broke down when I learned Mt aunt has to see a throat doc but she never smoked either her problem is due to cancer she can't the this option ND if I had the same situation me either
Did anyone find it creepy she was smoking out of her neck thingy? This goes to show that cigarettes are so addicting that even with Cancer and having your voicebox removed, you still need that one smoke in just to get through the day.

I'm almost 18 during my 15th summer I smoked colts cigarillos while camping just for the fun of it and kept it up for a year and a half now I haven't touched em for months ( unless I go camping for a year as a small treat ) you don't inhale cigarillos or cigars anyway

@@marvinthemaniac7698 when he got it, he was supposed to get a stoma and was told he needed one to prolong his life and he refused so he passed away somewhat quickly after that.

Hard to belive drhia been going on for years and no updates for cance patients by now its sad why no new ways i have a aunt denying THIS, and i dont blame her she has been thru am so much cancer wise muliple surgeries trachea in throat rhat people need to BE AWARE DAMAGES THE THROAT EVERYTIME . Im sorry but i dont think a poke in the throat and a hole should be an option there gotta be more options she not being forced to do this and rwfuse to be forced ahould be able to do something with holes n thw neck is rather stay silent then deal with that but wveryonw different should be bettwr options by now

She's passed on. When a person has a stoma you have to turn away from the shower head so that you don't get water in it.
