By building a new religion, Akhenaten will be able to cut the influence of the High priest, as they used religion to influence the people.. but let's not forget that the Pharaoh is a living god for the Ancient Egyptians, so by founding a new religion, they ensuring that they will get a greater influence than the priests of Carnac....

Maybe the Amarna period is comparable to Henry VIII and the Reformation. When the dominant religion encroached too deeply on the king, it was time for the king to dominate the powerful, established religion. Maybe it is that simple.

For me this gives credence to the Biblical narrative of Moses coming into Egypt and totally defeating the gods of Egypt in the name of YHWH (the God of the Hebrews). Akhenaten's father, Amenhotep III acknowledged the existence of the people of YHWH at his temple at Soleb. Akhenaten realized the gods of Egypt were powerless against the God of Moses and he needed a god equal to YHWH, so he worshipped the one god Aten. The acknowledgement of YHWH by Amenhotep III and Akhenaten's actions gives credence to the Biblical account where one man Moses thru the God YHWH totally embarrassed Pharaoh and all the gods of Egypt.

Something/someone caused total chaos on the gods of Egypt. The Bible gives an explanation for the cause. The God of the Bible totally destroyed the gods of Egypt. This gives credence for Moses and the Exodus.
When will people start doing documentaries about the sumarians, they are the earliest known civilization and their 'mythology' is supported by science.
Not true Akhenaten may have founded a religion but it was not the first religion in history. He probably got the idea of monotheism from the Isrealites worship and belive in one God the creator of all things. How in the world can any one compare an Egytion preist to Moses or Yashewa. have come across some shocking scripture that we ALL need to pray about. In Matthew 11, Jesus praises John The Baptist as the greatest man born of woman, but then follows that by saying that John is LOWER than the LEAST in the kingdom of heaven,😳, of course I had to go back to the beginnings for context. Jesus tells how John witnessed miracles and heard the good teachings, yet when faced with death, John questioned whether Jesus was the Messiah or should he keep looking for another. We don't know how much Akhenaten knew about astronomy. Probably the ancients knew more about astronomy than we realize...look at the pyramid that is oriented toward Sirius and the knowledge
