  • The tale of the Israelites’ conquest of the Promised Land has long been an article of faith for Jews and Christians alike. But recent discoveries suggest that the military defeat of the Promised Land, as detailed in the Book of Joshua, never occurred. This archaeological standpoint will come as a surprise to many: no sudden invasion, no bloody defeat of ancient Canaan; instead, a simple ‘peasants’ revolt’ of farmers within the country.
For today’s State of Israel, where questions of history and archaeology have enormous significance, this new archaeological evidence is certain to arouse religious - and even political - controversy for years to come.

Egypt was not ruling over Canaan in the same sense that they were in mainland Egypt. Egypt had a few settlements in Canaan just to collect taxes and see that the pharaoh got support from Canaanite tribes. After Israel fled east across the Red Sea and wandered in the wilderness, Egyptian power started to wane. A group of unspecified warrior tribes called the "Sea Peoples" popped up on the northeastern tip of Egypt and pushed them out of Canaan, even attempting invasion. After Egypt lost power in Canaan, the Israelites moved in to Canaan from the east. The only way Egypt would be able to push Israel out would be to go up along the Mediterranean, through the Sea Peoples north of Israel, and then circle back southward to attack Israel. It makes no sense to assume that Egypt would be strong enough to drive out Israel, yet not strong enough to defend against the "Sea Peoples".

Yes, "critical archeology". The same "critical archeology" that said for decades that the Hittites did not exist. The fact that they find Cannaite/phonecian idols in Jewish areas does not dis prove the Bible, as the Bible tells us that: 1) they lived next to each other and 2) That some Israelites were worshiping these idols and subsequently punished by God. How they don not know this as studied scientists is either they need to study more or they have a bias against the Judaeo Christian belief.

The denial of the Hittites is interesting, but archaeological evidence changed opinion accordingly. Around that same time most historians accepted the Bible as mostly accurate, archaeology changed that. That's the same for here. @@ManiacMayhem7256 There is evidence of the Exodus right down to a mountain topped with black rocks. These rocks are only black on the top, but when turned over, are as grey as the surrounding rocks meaning they wouldn't be volcanic, and even if they were, there is no known volcano any where near it. The mount is called Jabal El Laws or Mountain of Laws to the locals. Near it are 12 wells, still in existence today. Near that is a huge stone with water erosion and a dry, eroded creek bed with obvious erosion. But these places aren't studied except for a few rouge geologist for 1)the Saudis have made them off limits. 2)political upheaval in the area. There were also two pillars found on either side of the Red Sea. One had had it's insertions washed off, but the other showed inscriptions of these cylinders being erected by Solomon in remembrance of the Exodus and crossing of the Red Sea. A lot of this stuff has become uninteresting to scientists because they are secular; you don't study what you don't believe or care about. But they are there. There is evidence of chariots at the bottom of the Red Sea. There are sulfur balls(white sulfur which is rare in nature) around un excavated ziggurats that fit the Sodom narrative. There is an Egyptian stele representing Joseph and possibly Ephraim. There is a lot of evidence; you just have to want to find it. And with the internet, it's not hard.

The Sea People and the Israelites campaigned against the Indo-European Hittite Canaanites and the Egyptians (also Canaanites) during the Bronze Age Collapse. What we know for certain is that the Bronze Age Collapse was a time of extreme raiding and warfare in Anatolia and Egypt that was led by the Sea People. At this time, the Hittite Empire (an empire of Indo-European Canaanites which grew to prominence after the volcanic eruption of Thera in the Mediterranean that caused the Exodus of the slaves of Egypt) vanished from Anatolia. At the same time, in China (named for the Canaanites, the Chiananna) the construction of the Great Wall began using the very same design as the wall that was constructed around the Hittite Empire in Hattusa.
Also, dolmen construction which originate in Northwestern Europe and spread throughout the Mediterranean, migrated to Korea (which now has the most number of dolmen in the world, 40% of the world's dolmen are in Korea). Also, people with elongated skulls of Southern Mesopotamia migrated out of the Persian Gulf and sailed to Paracas Peru. DNA testing of the elongated skulls of Paracas Peru has revealed that they carried maternal genes of Early European Farmers, and other haplogroups of Europe and Western Asia. These ancient people who were refugees from the Land of Canaan brought paganism, human sacrifice, slavery, and warfare that originated in Northern Europe and Northwestern Asia to Southern Asia, East Asia, Polynesia, and to Mesoamerica... in their DNA.
So, pretty much everyone in the world was practicing Canaanite paganism, except the peaceful Hebrews and Judeans. If not for the Hebrews, the Jews who created monotheism, Judaism, and Christianity, then Europe, Asia, and the Americas would be inhabited by nothing but violent, genocidal, cannibalistic pagans that carried the symbol of the swastika. Interestingly, the pagans are hunters who worshipped death and the dead, they have a preference for the color of fresh blood, they have an obsession with lethal weapons, they represent themselves with the colors red, white, and the symbol of the swastika, they are drawn towards conflict, they invade farming societies and rule over farmers (who represent themselves with the color green). The Hebrews are fishers and shepherds, they worship water, life, and the creation of life, they are drawn to the color of natural pools of water, they tend to be independent and flee from conflict.
This is the foundation of the story of Jacob and Esau. The older brother Esau, who was a hairy, aggressive, hunter, sold his inheritance to his meek brother Jacob for the food which Jacob had prepared for Esau. After Esau sold his inheritance to Jacob, Esau married several Indo-European Hittite Canaanite whores. This is the sequel to the story of Cain and Abel, in which the older brother killed the younger brother. The slaves of Egypt now inherited the world for the food that they had prepared for the aggressive Eurasian pagans for over one thousand years.

It tells you in the bible that they did not wipe them all and god was mad. When people says gods loves everyone. In the bible he clearly did not. Many time he flat out says when he doesn’t like someone or a group of people. For instance. Jacob I have loved but Esau I have hated. Same with Cain and Able. He excepted all of Able’s offerings but not Cain’s. When he doesn’t hear from able for awhile. He questions his Whereabouts. The Israelites was supposed to be the dominant rulers. I truly believe that God wanted to wipe out curtain nations that would’ve pose a threat to the Israelites later on. However. The Israelites didn’t do all that was commanded of them and spared some Canaanites. Those who were spared eventually some married into the Israelites. The Israelites were never Canaanites. But the Canaanites were absorb into Israelites cultures. It also says that Canaanites would never forget what the Israelites did. There would be a time when the descendants of the surviving Canaanites. Those who did not married into the Israelites would seek revenge.

@@AlexBigShid Thousands of years of translations? The Jewish scribes took extremely careful care to write down the Scriptures word-for-word since they were literally the words of God, and I don't know of any major translations that would alter the meaning of the text that severely... but at the end of the day if you are trying to figure out if the Bible is entirely historically accurate based on some rocks then the Bible won't do you any good anyway. It's not meant to just be a history book. It's the inspired word of God that directs us and gives us purpose and meaning. In it are the words of life. It's kinda sad that people care more about the Bible's historicity (which we might not ever be able to prove or disprove with archaeology completely) than about its meaning.

The Bible clearly says that the Israelites started in Canaan as Abraham had moved there from the area of the Chaldeans (modern Iraq).
Abraham's grandson Jacob was born in Canaan and was renamed "Israel" by God; Israel had 12 sons from whom the twelve tribes of Israel were formed. Israel's son Joseph was sold into slavery in Egypt by his brothers. Joseph became 2nd in command of Egypt and saved Egypt from famine. Joseph's eleven brothers later joined him due to famine back in their homeland of Canaan. Over time, the Egyptian Pharaohs forgot Joseph's work in saving the people and they plunged the Israelites into slavery. After generations of slavery, one of the Israelites, Moses, was raised up as a leader of Egypt. When Moses found out his heritage, he led the Israelites out of slavery and away from Egypt, back to Canaan, where they ultimately re-settled in the land and renamed it Israel. Of course, The Bible gives credit for all of this to the Guiding Hand of God.

My point in posting the comment was to answer what the video mentioned about whether the Israelites were themselves Canaanites from the viewpoint of the Bible. Regardless whether there is archaeological evidence of Israelite presence in Egypt, the Exodus, or military conquest of Canaan, the Bible makes the claim that the Israelites got their start in Canaan.
As to whether there is evidence of captivity in Egypt or the Exodus, there are credentialed researchers who claim that there is such evidence.

The Bible is metaphorical and allegorical stories to convey higher spiritual knowledge. It is not to be taken literally.
The apostle Paul says in 2 CORINTHIANS 3:6
"Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; NOT OF THE LETTER, BUT OF THE SPIRIT: FOR THE LETTER KILLETH,
    but THE SPIRIT GIVETH LIFE."

@@robertguest5215 No offense, but you're not understanding what Paul is saying about the "letter vs the spirit". He also says in Romans the patriarchs of the old testament weren't literal people but archetypes. Moses exists/never existed and the Exodus happens/never happened.
Moses exists because every human being IS Moses. The Exodus happens within each person as they (Moses) leave Egypt (lower mind) for the Promise Land (higher mind). Moses as an actual person described in the Bible never existed. The Exodus as described in the Bible never happened. This is evident in the Egyptians very meticulous historical records - nothing at all is mentioned of Moses or a great exodus of millions of Hebrews. Archeologists have found no evidence of any mass exodus taking place or any trace of millions of people having traveled from Egypt to Palestine. If the Bible was read and understood as it should be rather than literally this world would be much better because each person would have the power it gives. Most Christians today realize the power the Bible speaks of isn't found in churches or Christianity as preached and taught today. The Pharisees asked Jesus by what AUTHORITY did he teach his teachings. 🚩There was something different about what he was teaching.
He was teaching the masses there was no need for a middle man or physical temple - that religion was a scam, a huge money making business. He said: "The Kingdom of Heaven does not come by observation. For when they say Lo! He is here or there - believe them not for the Kingdom of Heaven is WITHIN YOU."
99.9% of Christians: Looking for and waiting for Jesus to return FROM HEAVEN at "The Rapture". 🙄

As an Atheist & Pagan and objective reader of religion, it is obvious that most of the Bible especially the supernatural stories in it are false. Israelites being Canaanites or at least another northern Semitic group nearly indigenous to the region nearly identical to the Canaanites makes the most sense. Bible does say that they lived in the same region that one of Noah’s sons was Canaan and that there were multiple tribes of Israel. Now Noah’s ark we know was influenced by older pagan flood myths and that flood myths were common in ancient civilizations that were always around water be it seas or rivers. There are two major reasons to why the Israelis replaced the Canaanites without actually doing it through actual warfare and that they lied about that. That like other great empires of the time they fell similar to Ancient Rome & Egypt & that their new monotheistic beliefs did demonize the earlier pagan polytheistic culture by labeling their gods as devils & false gods such as tje Canaanite deities Baal & Ashtoroth. If it was proven that Jews/Israelites were in fact Canaanites which I think is most likely given they were so close any way; it shows two things. That one that the Israelites were not bloodthirsty conquerers stealing land from the people there that they themselves portrayed themselves as but also that they in fact indigenous to the land as Cannanites but they were of the lower class the farmers that were able to survive as they were able to feed themselves and survive after the fall of the Canaanite civilization. Still while most of the Bible is false one thing that is true about it is that it accurately depicts the Israelites/Jews as that followed Judaism as sexist and oppressive & violent monotheists. Its their mentality that is proven truth of the Bible not the stories. It does prove also that they are indigenous to the land of Israel.

Remember the story of Joseph &his coat of many colors? Okay, Joseph & his brothers are the sons of Isaac and they lived in Canaan. Joseph’s brothers sold him to slavers who were on their way to Egypt. Then we have Joseph in Egypt eventually becoming in charge of the grain in storage for the coming famine. Isaac sent his sons to Egypt to buy grain because of famine in Canaan. Joseph & his family had a great reunion. Pharaoh had Joseph’s family move to Egypt where they lived for 100 years (?) before the the reigning pharaoh decided they might turn against Egypt & started treating them cruelly eventually making them slaves. There’s tons more to the story how everything happened but that’s a brief explanation of how the Israelites became slaves.
