- As the 75th anniversary of the D-Day invasion unfolds this month, many sites in Normandy are being revisited and commemorated, including a pivotal battle fought by the 101st Airborne Division on June 6th, 1944. In this video, AVweb's Paul Bertorelli looks at Utah Beach and the small unit action at Brecourt Manor, as depicted in HBO's Band of Brothers.

Paul, thanks! Amazing achievement. Read the books, seen the movies, I'm still in awe. "May we never forget their leadership under fire."
Thank you for sharing this and also for your very thoughtful words about European war losses and their effect on current European attitude towards military conflicts.
I was about to say the same.. True words.
Thank you for being in France on this 75th anniversary of D-Day and sharing this video. May God continue to bless the U.S. "Peace through strength".
Thanks for putting this tribute together.
Thanks. Never forget.
Never been a TV fan but Band of Brothers is a series I watch every year around this time. Thanks, Paul. Didn't know about the Elliot Richardson connection. All, including a Boston Brahman like Richardson, served in that war. A different time.
Thanks for this series of videos, Paul; they provide a great refresher on the history of Operation Overlord.. I’ll be there on the Cotentin Peninsula this week with my men’s chorus, Sound of the Rockies, representing the US and performing at ceremonies commemorating D-Day at the American Cemeteries in Brittany and Normandy, and in the town square in Saint-Mere-Eglise.
Wonderful. Wish I could be there, but not this year.
So very well done. Thank you.
Great video Paul, would love to see you do some more of history.
I was almost 2 years old. Amazing history of the brave.
Love these mini-documentaries. Rewatch your June 2017 video on gliders from time to time since I like it so much. Thx!
Thank you so much for doing this. Keep ‘em coming. May we never forget.
Thank you for making this, Paul.
EXCELLENT video! Thank you!
This is how to teach history. My hat's off to you, sir.
GREAT video Paul.
It's incredible how after so many deaths at war, there still is eager for more...
Some wars have to be fought WW2 is one of them
Other (most) wars are useless.
How many soldiers from several NATO countrys recently where needles sacrificed in Irak, Afghanistan and Mali.😭
Freedom is paid in blood and human lives, but often politicians don't give a damn of those who give the ultimate sacrifice!
Remembering them is the only way to prevent needles wars
@@obelic71 i guess the guys from the series Deep State may be accurate, the Lords of war and gun manufacturers are the ones who win the most.
Thanks, that was great.
You won a new sub.👍
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👍👍👍👍👍👍
Nice vid
Lest We Forget...
Hello were you rented the motorcycle, I like to drive Spain and France on one. Thanks in advance saludos
Very nice video. Out of respect for your hosts, the name Vallavieille is pronounced (approx) "valla-vee-EH" (rhymes with "say").
Further proof why I failed high school French. Thanks.
At he 3:40 or so mark you make the comment, "One thing that people don't think about is how the various countries suffered during WW II as far as casualties. France was near the top..." I think you would like this presentation on this topic: czcams.com/video/DwKPFT-RioU/video.html

Nice piece.
I worry about China and their need to take Taiwan by force. I hope it ends well for both Taiwan and the USA.
Ends? I hope "it" never *begins* or else there's a significant chance it'll end badly for everyone on this planet.
