  • In a turn of events that I never would have expected, Toys for Bob has officially broken away from Xbox and Activision to become an independent (Indie) studio. What does this mean for crash and Spyro? What does this mean for the studio? WHAT DOES IT MEAN PERIOD?! Let's talk about it!

I say they are planning their own spiritual successor to Spyro. Zera: Myths Awakened is already running into trouble, and the creator is somewhat of an ass in more ways than one, so a successor from Toys for Bob would be our only hope...

    Honestly I'm rooting for them.
Them becoming indie means they are their own boss and worker, they can explore new horizons without worrying that much about deadlines from above or external complications, while maybe get their own complications as Indie devs usually have, but I have faith on them.
About Spyro and Crash, I think them becoming Indie doesn't necessarily mean they are forbidden to work on any Crash/Spyro-related, they still can work with Xbox/Activision as a collab project or assisting studio.
Also, if they don't, some other studio can take the mantle to make more Spyro and Crash content.
At the end, this turn of events was wild and unexpected. I mean, I bet no one ever saw that coming.
But, I guess we'll just get used to it.

What I learned so far is Crash Rumble getting it's last update in March a year after I got my first platinum trophy on PS5.
I been though 3 seasons when it came out last June. Season 1 just saw the release of Ripper and N.gin expanding the roster.
Season 2 introduced the party mode and Ripto joins the roster.
And finally, Season 3 saw the release of Spyro and Elora joining the roster. Kinda shame that we won't get Crunch, Tiny tiger, and others after Season 3.

I'm curious what'll come out of it. I'm confident that they're days of working on Crash and Spyro aren't over, as the message seems to imply. After all, Sakurai didn't stop working on Smash Bros. after going independant under Sora Ltd.
And if they won't be working on Crash or Spyro, with the experience they have under their belt, they'd be able to make the next best thing.

Not to worry, back in the day Insomniac Games was an independent studio when they first created Spyro the Dragon as it was owned and contracted by Universal Studios for them to develop Spyro. This is the most ridiculous news I've heard lately with the state of the gaming industry, let alone the Entertainment Industry in general, to have what was a studio attached to a big company to split off and go independent is something you never see, although some good news they still will be open to working with Microsoft and company so it means that Crash or Spyro won't be completely out in the rearview mirror as they drive off in the sunset to this new opportunity they have going for them, I honestly do think they did this as a means of avoiding being completely dissolved as a studio or being laid off due the state of the industry, the fact they pulled this off is incredible and full respect given to the team that are now doing their own thing.

This has been a giant s*** show in the industry and we’re barely marching into month 3.
Honestly, being indie, TFB needs contracts ASAP to bring in money. I’m sure that’s priority #1 unless they get someone to fund them until they release whatever they want to work on.
Hopefully we’ll hear good news but them saying no more updates to CTR doesn’t give off the biggest vote of confidence. TBH I think them saying they left on good terms is a load of PR garbage unless Microsoft met with them and said we’re not keeping you so either we shut you down or you can opt out.
Either way, this whole situation is a giant mess.
I think they have the creative talent to come up with their own mascot if that’s the direction they want to take. I mean insomniac did that with ratchet and clank and they’re still alive and well.

oddly enough, that was the statement Microsoft made during the acquisition, that the studios now under their ownership could decide what they wanted to make. The acquisition would've allowed T4B to decide what games they worked on. Atleast, thats what Phil Spencer said, so maybe take it with a grain of salt.
So i wonder why exactly T4B went Indie (maybe if i finish the video first). perhaps Microsoft does have a say in things that T4B didn't want to be said, so they decided to speak for themselves.

It sounds like toys for Bob a trying to assuage people's fears that crash and spyro are dead by making these obvious references to them. Well I do think we need to wait For more information to come out, it sounds like they definitely have plans if this partnership with Microsoft still goes through and hey, if not then I'm sure B Knox will finish tomorrow four considering I've long suspected they've been the primary devs on it. And i still don't believe that Spyro 4 only entered development this year when the teasers have been happening for so much longer.
If I had to guess, this is a move by toys for Bob to free them from influence by Overwatch as well as Call of Duty scum. COD does not deserve support from anyone and this is TFB's way of throwing that hat into or should I say out of the ring.

Toys for Bob would be a great candidate for a new Banjo Kazooie game. They have already proven themselves as worthy in my book with both Crash and Spyro and I believe they will treat Rare's flagship characters with love and care and finally provide us with a Banjo Threeie that remains faithful to the franchise and Rare can even assist them if needed. I think it is about time for Banjo and Kazooie to make a comeback.

It's sad news for Crash Team Rumble, but it's also relieving to hear the servers are going to remain online for the foreseeable future with all the paid content becoming unlockable for free. I'm happy, though, to see this new era for Toys For Bob and what it will bring them.

  • @BLACKx_xPEARL
    @BLACKx_xPEARL Před 5 měsíci +1

I'm actually happy that Toy for Bob broke off from Activision and Microsoft. It is a good opportunity for them to have the freedom of being an indie studio. They can now create whatever they want and let their talented developers go crazy with their skills. I would happily buy the next IP they create because I genuinely love all that they did for Crash and Spyro. Sure, they are not financially supported in future projects, but I'm sure they'll be able to overcome and succeed. The amount of pressure that ToB had to deal with during the time they had to support Call of Duty and other Activision games, but now that they have no pressure from higher ups telling them to work on things they don't enjoy working on, or do not the required experience to work on.
I'm excited for ToB after hearing the news. I wish them the best of luck.

This is a good thing. Skilled games companies need to barter with these corporations to get what they want.
Ever since Insomniac Games sold themselves to Sony, their games have been increasingly Marvel focussed, take longer, and less creative independence. Insomniac still has a lot of their old charm, but something is always lost in the sellikg of conpanies.
Im optimistic, im sure this means that Toys For Bob will negotiate a licence for Spyro/Crash from Activision on their own terms. It means they will have more creative freedom.
Im sire this was also done as they became a Warzone devloper for a while, and they would rather negotiate what games they can work on, rather than being at the whim of what activision wants them to work on.
    This is good news.

To be honest I think this dision it going to be interesting.
On the one hand the probably have less money and on the other hand the have more control for what they do
I don't know what that means for the future and we don't know how big this company is
    The positive for indie is
    1. You work in whatever project you want
    2. Most indie developer's don't have dead line
    The negative off indie developer's
    1. Most indie developer's don't have the money to do what have in mind
    2. It may not have the nessery developer team and some people to do multiple different work at the same time
This Wean the weird part comes we have 0 idea how big this team is and how many people it's for each position
Most indie game starts from the 0 or for developer layoff,
but for what we understand this company become indeping with out all those fact's,
it's very likely to have some form off deal bihaind the Sean to and have good money to starting as new studios also because it become indepeding with out all those negatives it may not be small team.
But all these I'm saying it's speculation in really i have 0 idea what hapents.

I'm really happy for Toys for Bob. They'll have alot more freedom to focus on passionate projects now, outside of the wonderful games they've already made.

I think this is a good thing, y'all. Simply put, they're free agents now and can do what they want. However, they kind of hinted here that they can still partner up and do more crash and Spyro on a case by case basis with microsofts permission.
It's most likely just a more financially viable way to continue moving forward for both microsoft and TFB.

Well... we've finally reached that moment. It hurts deep down in my heart to see this game dying in just 8 months, but I honestly believe everyone knew this would happen. A game that had so much potential in expanding the Crash Bandicoot universe with new characters, new scenarios and even a new story was simply thrown in the trash can due to poor choices, lack of content and basically a multiplayer update that we were forced to pay for with the excuse of being a "new game". Honestly Crash Bandicoot is in a horrible position thanks to this game and depending on who Xbox puts in charge of developing the next big game we can say our goodbyes to this franchise as well. I sincerely hope I'm wrong and that many other things involving Crash Bandicoot come in the future and not that Xbox simply bury this franchise as it has done with several others. But unfortunately I can't see a good future for this franchise after this whole disaster. 😮‍💨😮‍💨😮‍💨

being an indie studio has positives and negatives. it means a certain amount of freedom but it also means a loss of stability. a smaller studio cannot simply reach over and lean on one of the large publisher's other studios to get a project finished - which is a critical tactic for a lot of modern game series such as Xenoblade and Pokémon. an independent studio could experience delays, crunch, or the ability to create fewer projects. at the same time, yes, it may be a good sign for the design process of Spyro games.
